Ed was being very perceptive about the music moving around and shifting from region to region. Back in the 90s you immediately knew where a rapper was from based on the production and his/her rapping style. The hip hop game was regional. Today, I could be in the Bay Area, travel to New York or Florida, turn on the radio and hear the same thing over and over again and not know where the rapper is from. Today most rappers sound like the Migos. I'm not really a fan but I think they are the most influential crew in hip hop. Ever. And I've seen a lot of crews in my lifetime. Not to mention I don't think there's ever been an area or genre of hip hop that has had a grip on hip hop like the down south, trap music fellas over twenty years. Ed is from the boom-bap era to which is my personal favorite.

New York hasn’t carried the torch in a min. And it’s now new artist from there that’s even close to holding it down. Most exciting shit out of New York from recent times was the Lox vs Dipset verzus. And that drill shit weak.

No disrespect whatsoever, but I never heard of special ed until his nwa comments on drink champs. I’m from California tho so maybe that’s why. Does he have any hit songs? Or was he like big in the underground scene on the east coast?

I ain’t goin lie…I’m honestly tired of VladTV with the east coast vs west coast questions to every rap artists and where they were at during the time. I wanted Vlad to ask questions of “Revelations”! That album was where Ed was on his grown man shit! His curly afro with the Helly Hansen jacket looking serious asf on the cover! Majority of that album Ed was on EDGE 💯👏🏾!

Special Ed: "We was humble. We and 20 lowlifes sat on 2 rows at the Source Awards that we knew wasn't ours. We didn't care. I gave up my seat. Nate Dogg comes with an usher to say those are his seats. I wasn't gonna get up for just anybody bc we was'Nt bout to get up for nobody. But all due respect we love artists. We was humble"🤨 "I then told the Ushers don't come back over here. I don't care who sitting here."

To me the regional thing didn’t happen until the late, late 90’s. From ‘92-‘95 hip-hop was universal every region was cranking out classics from Too $hort to Wu-Tang and everyone in between. Once Master P caught fire, then the regional surges became a thing.

pac going out at the wrong time because of someone telling him the wrong time is very possible. youd think at a event like that it would be more organized but depends whose running it. other stories said pac just walked in gave the sound guy his tape and said play this and went out on stage. but ive done around 100 shows and theyll rearrange the schedule alot and not tell anyone. or doors will be opening and they still wont have the times yet. or theyll psot the times on a sheet of paper and hang it up and not tell anyone. theres alot of people behind the scenes who dont know wtf they are doing and dont care
