- When looking fro a great meat grinder we had plenty of options but first go around we chose the cabelas carnivore. It was a good grinder but not quite big enough. We then went with the New Meat your Maker Meat! grinder in the 1 hp range. Meat! did not offer this when we upgraded before so when looking at these we decided based off of reviews and cost, this was the best meat grinder for the money.

Great video. Almost bought the 3/4 hp carnivore today at cabalas for 550 dollars but only got a 60 day warranty ,,could have bought a 3 year extended for 150 dollars ,felt i was getting ripped off so i will keep looking. take care.
I had the 3/4 Hp Carnivore as well. These Meat ones are great and heavy like the Carnivore.
@@BBQbyBiggs unfortunately they dont ship to canada.
That is one nice meat grinder, and quiet too! I enjoyed the video and I'm always watching how others grind meat and stuff sausages. I too have purchased a new meat grinder and will be uploading the video soon. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend!👍
I will be watching for it! Be safe out there!
I have 3 of their 1-1/2 hp grinders. GREAT products I really love them! In fact, all of there products are wonderful, well built, dependable products!
They are heavy duty for sure!
I heard u need to apply some gasket to auger? Otherwise u can get metal shavings in your meat like it happened to one of the users? Did you had any issues?
I bought the 3/4 hp Cabelas based on your review. Using it for the first time this coming weekend, I was wondering if you have done a updated review on it?
I have not. It works perfectly. Both of these are great grinders. I have nothing bad at all to say about the Cabelas. I appreciate you watching.
@@BBQbyBiggs I appreciate your channel. You definitely have a loyal subscriber
Not gonna lie, that was a lot more interesting and engaging than I thought it would be. Looks like a great purchase.
I appreciate it. I try to cover things that I like to know. Appreciate the comment.
Thanks for the demonstration! So two years later, how has the grinder held up?
@@Nightmare87-128 no issues at all.
@@BBQbyBiggs Thanks man, I think I'm going to grab one!
@@Nightmare87-128 I have a lot of their stuff that I bought not given to me and everything has been top notch.
Thanks! Just ordered the Meat! 1 hp grinder on sale right now for $399 and grabbed a sausage maker also.
Hope you enjoy it!
These are all made in China, Fabio Leonardo is only one thats made outside china, in italy, except hobart which is for businesses
@@ia6980 so are apple phones but is that stopping you or other USA citizens from buying apple products? Products are built as per company's requests/requirement.
Good stuff. I love my MEAT processing equipment. 👊
Yes sir! Making some jerky in the dehydrator today from a deer we killed last weekend!
Looking at the cool-tek ice packs, they have them for #8, #12, #32 and #42. What size did you use for your 1hp Meat! Grinder?
I had the Carnivore 3/4 Hp and used the cool tech from it on the 1hp. It’s really tight. I know they do not make a 22 but the 32 may be large but fit better. I know the 12 works. I now just freeze the horn and it stays cool enough for 25lb or less. If doing more I’ll put it on.
Sweet grinder, made short work out of that brisket!, pretty darn quiet too!👍 thanks for sharing Aaron, have a great one brother, you all stay safe!👍👊🍻🍺
Thanks, you too!
Yeah, that's Awesome👍🏼. I like my little 500 Watt, I've done over 100 lbs of meat through my little one, they do save money for sure. Great review AB thanks👍🏼🇺🇸🥃
Thanks Man! I saw that thing in action and it also chewed through that beef!
Knowing that this is a #22 grinder plate and head and having been around the meat business my whole life (my dad was a professional butcher). The really important question is (since I cant get an honest answer from MEAT).....is will other #22 plates fit on this grinder? I do a LOT of italian sausage and I use a 1/4 inch hole plate....I am looking to buy this grinder but ONLY if I can find the 1/4 inch plate from a vendor.....Since MEAT doesnt sell optional plates.
Can you advise?
PS dont mind the name...its an old biz name...
Yes any brand of plate fits. I know the Cabelas brand does for sure as I’ve used it. I believe the LEM is the same size as well but have not tried it.
Great tutorial, I was just getting ready to purchase a Cabela's now it will be a MEAT. I do like the frozen sleeve Cabela's has though, I hope I cna buy that separately. Anyway, thank you for a great video.
You can and the Cabelas one does fir. Just choose the same size
@@BBQbyBiggs thank you.
Big ups friend ! Fully watched and supported 💪🏻🇺🇸
Appreciate you Nate! When you going to Vegas again since you are on the mend?
I want to say it was early Febuary I was all set to buy the 1hp version one night on their website on sale for I think it was $430 but my wife was sleeping and I didn't want to possibly wake her going to the bedroom for my wallet. The next morning when I came back the price was back up to $499. I have been watching like a hawk since then for another sale! I have 3 briskets and a couple deer in the freezer I need to grind up. Looks like it does an amazing job.
I decided to do a search today and found a coupon code for 15% off so I went ahead and ordered the 1hp model. $424.99 delivered!! Now the wait begins.
SO @BRETT S, HOW Are you liking it/.?
@@BBQbyBiggs Loving it. I have 50 pounds of deer/pork 50/50 mix hamburger, 16 pounds of brisket burger, and another 22 pounds of straight deer burger through it and all was stuffed using the grinder in 1# bags. Not one hiccup either. I have yet to try to stuff casings using the small tube but using the large stuffing tube was very simple to do.
When I purchased mine they were out of foot pedal switches so I went on amazon and purchased a switch I think was made in Ohio (I kbow it was US made) and it is VERY heavy duty, built like a tank. It makes a one man operation doable.
My only complaint is the stuffing plate you get with the 1hp. I have a rural king near me and they had the #22 stuffing plate in stock so I grabbed one of those as well as a medium #22 7mm grinding plate just since they had them.
@@Brett_Syou still liking it? You wouldn't happen to still have that coupon code would ya?
@@joemoneytaker1766 Valley10 still gets you 10% off at checkout. If you are wanting it cheaper than that I would wait until Labor Day as a ton of companies do promo codes around that time. Also subscribe to their email, I can't remember if I got a first purchase code or not when I did.
I am 100% satisfied with the purchase. I haven't had a single issue and I have well over 1000 pounds, probably closer to 2000 pounds of deer, beef, and pork combined through the grinder. I have also stuffed 1 and 2 pound hamburger packages using it as a stuffer with no issues but usually I use an electric 30 stuffer from LEM with deer sausage and snack sticks. My only gripe would be with the stuffing "star" which is just a flimsy piece of metal used for stuffing. Their other models include the actual stuffing plate instead of the star. I would recommend buying a #22 stuffing plate and getting rid of the star stuffing plate that comes with the grinder. I paid $12 for a stainless #22 stuffing plate at rural king. One other recommendation would be to pick up a cheap set of nylon bristle pipe cleaners. While it is fairly easy to clean 99%, there are some areas near where the shaft enters the neck that has some hard to reach places I can't fit my hand in to thoroughly clean, which is the case with pretty much all grinders I have used.
One thing to consider now as well is they make "dual grind" versions. They use double sided knives and 2 grinder plates instead of a single, lets you do 2 grinds in 1 pass. Even if they had the dual grind available when I purchased mine I would have stuck with the single grind. We do ALOT of cured deer sausage and I do a more coarse first grind with the seasoning on the meat, then it goes in the electric mixer, after about 10 minutes of mixing we add the liquid cure and mix about 10 more minutes and do a regrind. We have always done multiple passes like that when doing a cured meat.
I hope that helps!
Brett
What size Cabela's Cool-Tec fits this unit? Never mind. It is #22. Ordered one and nice review!
The 22
Finely ,I just ordered the same grinder, they were out every time I went to buy one last year.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy
That looks like a rebranded Cabelas carnivore which is what I have. I’ve snapped the front auger pin twice, and no I didn’t over tighten the plate. Looks like all grinders are made in the same factory in China, just with subtle differences. I’m trying to find one where the Auger pin has a better design, or better steel.
It looks a bit similar but it is a different machine. I have the carnivore as well.
@@BBQbyBiggs what made you buy this, and what are the differences?
@@peternelson9865 my carnivore is 3/4 HP and this is a 1 H/P. I wanted a little bigger throat to work faster and keep heat down. Like last Tuesday I ground up 8 briskets to replenish my Hamburger meat. Takes a few minutes and fat stays crisp and cold. I purchased both on sale so they were actually similar in price. The carnivore was pre pandemic so I think I paid 349 for it at the time.
@@BBQbyBiggs purchased mine about 5 or 6 years ago 3/4hp 550 watts but has a 23/4 throat. Was at Cabelas the other day and I see they’ve cheapened them in features not price.
Need one of these for all my brisket trimmings so i can turn them into burgers!
Them brisket burgers are 💣!!
Looks like an older Weston design, any idea who makes it for them?
I have no idea on that. It is still chugging along. I bought it a while back.
I just ordered one. When you are making ground meat do you ever run it through the 10mm and then the 4mm? Or only twice through the 10?
I do the 10mm twice. The 4mm created too much protein extraction and gives it a more sausage texture. Kind of like cheaper ground beef sold in the tubes or chubs. Some people like that but I like a more traditional ground beef. For chili I will only run it through once. It’s chunkier that way.
@@BBQbyBiggs ok thank you for replying, I will try it out
Nice my man, what vacuum sealer do you use and does it work well? 👊
I actually use a cheap Amazon one right now. Had a big food saver on but it crapped out. Looking at the Meat ones now but have yet to make up my mind as the 30 buck one is working fine.
@@BBQbyBiggs good to know thanks my man!!! 👊
Just curious someone sent me the link to this video asking me if this is the grinder I have.of course it is!I have all meat products and yes I buy mine to!for my bbq restaurants.but clicking on your link to meat your no longer advertising or affiliated with meat!now I’m not a fan of big brick and mortar stores either..just curious now
They switched affiliate providers. Working on changing all of the links. This is still my go to!
I like that. Thanks for the great review. I make a fair amount of a couple of sausages I like but I grind a lot of produce and I'm looking to upgrade from where I'm at and that looks like just the ticket for my needs.
Thanks for watching!
That thing's a monster! Any idea where it's made? I don't see that information on their website so I assume not in the USA? I've been looking for an American made grinder and haven't found one I like that I can afford. Yet.
Found the info I was looking for. Sadly they are not domestic.
No. Imported. Looks pretty well made but is not USA.
@@BBQbyBiggs Thanks for checking! BTW got my fabrication email for my large IVS. Hope to have some videos out shortly after it's done. 😎
@@evilTexanBBQ that is awesome man! You will enjoy it
The throat size should be what the width of the grinding plate is rite ?
Yes right at that
Thanks for the review, looks great. For that grinder, you could save yourself alot of time by only cutting the meat into strips, no sense cubing it all. Great video though!
That is how I do it now. My old one did not have the HP to do it. This one sure does.
The guard is removable ?I noticed the others were spot welded on.
The one I got was a plastic one that was removable
Looks like a great purchase👍
Thank you, and thanks for watching and the support!
Insane how quiet this is, I have a $50 Harbor Freight one, for $50 it makes amazing smash burgers. But it’s probably 10x louder than this and is super slow and sounds like its motor is going to give up every time I use it.
I definitely need to save up and get one of these, the 1st time I ground up Brisket for smash burgers that was it.
Worth every penny! Thanks for watching
Got an update video planned on this thing?
Yes I do but it will be a bit. It is still chewing through meat like new on same blade. So far so good!
Where can I get cool packs for the 1 hp #22 meat your maker and what size will work
cabelas.xhuc.net/5bmnj1 select size 22
How do you like it so far??
Love it so far. Upgraded from a 3/4 Cabelas Carnivore. It chews through meat faster than I can keep up usually. All parts are available anywhere too.
@@BBQbyBiggs thank you 🙏 for your replying
@@jordank2529 any time. I have links in the description if you decide you wanna give it a try. If you have any questions let me know. I use it all the time making sausages and such. Blade still sharp like new. Take care.
@@BBQbyBiggs I did Uesd the link yesterday
Can this grind chicken bones? I make raw dog food for our puppy and am looking for a good grinder that can handle chicken drumsticks
I have not tried it yet but you may want to send them a message and ask.
@@BBQbyBiggs Thank you! Will do!
How can I get one where did you order
Links are in video description
Is this only sold in usa? Canada?
Mark I am not sure. I live in Texas and had no issues. Not sure about Canada. I would give them a call. If not I’m sure you could use a mail forwarder.
You should have mentioned their warranty! You will never need to buy another grinder (given the fact you bought the right one for your needs).
Good call out!
Excellent review Brother!!
Appreciate it! Have a great weekend!
My grandmother would make brisket ground beef,
Be careful!!!
My grandmother always soaked her brisket in vinegar and lemon juice before making her ground beef to kill any E coli etc on the outside of the Meatz.
My Grandmother was Black though, we wash our Meatz😁
I will keep that in mind!
As much as it cost me to have a deer processed itll pay for itself the first time. Thanks for the review.
Absolutely. Also, after buying brisket on sale and grinding as Hamburger, you will struggle to buy store bought again. It is that good.
Any one know why they say the 50lb mixer wont work on it?
They told me the adapter was different. Said last year they were working on one. Haven’t seen it.
Nice that went threw that meat sir
It’s a beast for sure. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there!
I hope they sold that grinder when it was on sale.I DIDNT.RETAIL $635,Sale price$350.PPL thats a $250 dollar difference.Customer service is arecording. And Im still trying to get the rest of my order delievered.Grinder does work as it should. But is the Porkin u get worth the headache????Dont get PORKED like I did. Good LUCK.

Thanks for the info. Fortunately it works great.
A 1hp cabekas is $50 cheaper, and almost identical besides the color. Your video states that meat was cheaper, and a larger grinder. NOT TRUE AT ALL. Theyre both a #22 and cabelas like i said is cheaper.
Ok,this was 1 year ago and at that time the 1HP meat grinder was actually 40.00 cheaper than the Cabela’s. Looks like Meat have gone up over the last year or Cabelas Down. Second, I made the comment about size because I was replacing a 3/4 HP carnivore from Cabelas and the size of throat is indeed bigger just as the Cabelas brand is bigger when you step up HP. Never said this 1HP was larger than the Cabelas 1HP. Lastly, both are great grinders and I would use either one any day. Thanks for watching.
Meat has the #22 1hp on sale for $419. Cyber Monday it was $349
you didn’t mention ANYWHERE to put the gasket on the auger. I followed your video and got metal shavings in 60lbs of meat. You should remake this video or take it down immediately so nobody else follows your inability to follow directions
None sure what you are talking about. Unless they changed the design I am looking at my explodes view and the actual book of instructions and do not see anything like you are describing.
