tf lol
Lol holy shit, its true
yeahhh really
Some folks are literally blind here 😜 he did BLINK multiple of times 😎
This is the First ever explanation(very detailed) that I have seen through my years of study...and I have just graduated several months ago. Thank you!
I seriously appreciate your work and actually you're a cool guy, Thank you so much for this informative video. 👍
Hey, Balkan!
Thanx for showing your face in this video, it is great to know you better! You read my mind in this and also in showing your computer setup...
And, because I am from Slovakia, I am pleased to see the Gas station on your monitor.
I am an architect active from 1991, I started on AutoCad9 or 10, I dont remember anymore, but I was one of the first CAD architects here. During those years I used almost all softwares being available and I spent rediculous amount of money on it. Today I left with Autocad, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion and Photoshop. In companion with MS Office bundle and a pretty solid HW it is more then I need to do almost any size of project. Getting older I just got me a bigger monitor, and a better mouse.
With the notebook statement you had, I would just remark, that it is not entirely true, that you cannot work on it as good as on desktop computer, I recently purchased Lenovo Y910 with 64GB of RAM and even Lumion is running faster on it then on my desktop! I was quite surprised to see that! Of course Revit runs like a rabbit on it and with bigger monitor attached you don’t even know you are on a notebook!
I would like to tell you, that I admire your Revit videos I watch them all, that’s because I share your fanaticsism (if it was a word) for Revit. I find it really great and you mastered it all! Thanks a lot and keep doin it, it’s fun! Regards Tomáš from Bratislava!
I love this video, it is 100% real, relatable, and Funny af!
Great content man. I'm an architecture student in Toronto and I totally agree with some of the points you brought up. I can't tell you how many interior designer students will only use their laptop with or without a mouse!!
Thanks a lot balkan for tips, as for suggestions for next videos, what about adaptive components, I am willing to see that simplified by you as always. Thanks again
Brilliant,articulate tutorials keep them coming,cheers.
I appreciate your work and I really love the tutorials in your website they’re ver good.
Thank you so much, this video is really helpful
I work with Revit2017, Windows7, Dell Laptop, core i7
Love the music! ,thanks also for the tips
Your videos are an informative and invaluable resource. Thanks so much
Thank you for the insight much appreciated
Amazing man. Thank you!!
I love it! Thank you!
Finally i saw the great teacher That’s amazing vedio looking for long time
Just give your vedio little smile 🙂
Good job Sir! Thanks for sharing ;)
You are right on the Quadro cards. One point you forgot was that your chances of model degradation when moving around is much less with quadro cards. Good video
Brother it was wonderful information what you shared with us thank you so much
Thanks bro this helped a lot 😊
Thank you .. very informative and to the point
Your videos has changed my life a lot. I am now a Revit expert. I am very grateful. Please keep doing what you are doing
Bro thank you so much for this video
You are a blessing Balkan
You're a living legend, thank you for the videos
Such a smart cutie! Love your videos! Very educational! 💙
That was very informative 👌
Thanks for all the brilliant videos. You are amazing.
Hi Balkan Architect, your channel is amazing, thank you to be here 😊.
I would like to know your advise about Microsoft surface studio and Microsoft surface book 2, Is it good idea to buy them ?
this shit has me howling. thank you for this! any 2-1 suggestions?
excelent u r keeping ur promise uploading videos constantly
It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it! ;)
Thank you very much!
brilliant very amazing person. according to me, Architectural design and technology student in the UK (London). I uses Dell i7. I have used this laptop for three years teal now its fantastic.
helpful. thank you so much
thank you very much for making an informative video......
You are the best, I have learnt a lot from you
The man, the myth, the legend! Love the video!
Very helpful video thank you!
Great vid my only comment would be that its very Revit slanted and for that I agree on all your observations (also a Revit user). However if you use ArchiCad, Vectorworks even AutoCad now these all run natively on Mac OS. I think a purely Mac system could work.
Thanks i need this☺️
Laptops have a vast range of specifications that can be good or bad for your intended purpose. I have used laptops for many years and have had very few problems, though when they go, they tend to go completely. Desktops are great for fixing, servicing & upgrading their specifications. Laptops will have limited options, though todays higher end laptops have more than adequate grunt to drive Revit/AutoCad, etc. The best advice I can give, is to learn as much as you can about computer hardware. Computers are the main tool of your trade, software the other. it is very important to be able to diagnose & repair any problems which may arise while you're working with them. It will save you lots of time & money! Get to know the tools you have to work with!
The most important factors to consider, are a fast processor. Especially with Revit. A higher clocked cpu works the best with Revit. An i5-i7 Quad-core is very capable though if you want to do lots of rendering, then go for the 8+ cores that are available now. At least 8gb of memory, with 16gb being a sweet spot for most project files. You need a decent graphics card, and with Revit, even a good gaming graphics card is more than adequate for Revit. Usually being faster than most of the low to mid range "Quadro" or "FirePro" graphics cards. An SSD drive is *much* better for Revit. I would consider the SSD one of the *MAIN* requirements for your CAD system. Loading & saving the large files that Revit produces, happens *MUCH* quicker. A normal HDD is great for backup storage, but to work on project files, do it on an SSD.
The other factors to consider are a good ergonomic wireless mouse, and keyboard. You will want to have the best fitting mouse for your hand. When you are working for hours every day, trust me, your hand will feel it, especially if the mouse is too small. I also recommend a good gaming mechanical key keyboard. It just feels more accurate & quicker when driving your keyboard commands & shortcuts over a whole day. Hope my feedback helps you.
I am using my Lenovo Thinkpad P52 laptop for business - i7 8850H., 16gb ddr4, Nvidia quadro P2000 4gb., and at home Asus TUF Gaming FX504 - i7 8750 , 16gb ddr4, Geforce GTX 1060 6gb. I am using Revit on both. It goes smooth on both, but it depend on size of project. But in general Revit works good also on gaming card with more memory.
Great Video Balkan - All of your videos have been great! Have learnt a lot from your Revit tutorials which is very much appreciated, Thank You. This one was very amusing. Keep up the good work.
As requested, Current machine - Dell 5520 Laptop 15''- Intel Xeon E3-1505M - 32gB Ram - Nvidia Quadro M1200 with 4GB - Running Revit - Autocad - photoshop on windows 10
That's a fast machine!
I few suggestions from a "Pro-Sumer"
- Razer Naga Epic wired mouse. Program the followings keys : enter, esc, delete, ctrl-v, ctrl-c, ctrl-z,
- Highest single threaded power. 4790k, 7700k, i3-8350k, etc.
- You can find some good deals right now on cards that were used for mining. No matter what, you can't go wrong with a 1080ti. You can probably find an EVGA with a couple more years on the warranty.
I agree with you about gaming laptop. I use DELL PRECISION M 4800 with quadro grafic 2014 years 500 euros in France.
Thank you I really design my Desktop
what do u think about cloud storage? and what monitor do u prefer for better color calibrating? thanks
Thankyouuu
Firstly thank you so much for all of your videos, i improved my revit skills by watching them and im gonna build a computer soon but i cant decide whic cpu should i buy, a six core intel i seven or an amd ryzen 7 series cpu which has an 8 core but slower clock speeds. Im using autocad revit photoshop and lumion mostly if you can help it will be great 👍🏻
Edlir Habili yeah threadrippers are insane but they are too expensive than others. I will wait the second gen ryzens for compare with intel
I want to say threadripper too they are the best with the programs that can use them, but for Autocad you can have a higher clocked Pentium beate an i7 just because it uses only 1 core. I'm not familiar with Lumion and how it works the best thing is to Google it and choose the hardware according to it's optimization with the programs.
Aca Krnjaic revit autocad etc are only using 1 core the rendering programs like lumion vray they are using multi cores im gonna buy 8700k because it has the highest clock speed on the market thanks for the comment btw
Hi , can you make a video where you talk about the both BIM programs, Auto Cad Architecture and Revit???
very goood
wish I saw you video a few months ago, Before buying my Pc
TIP : folders like 'my documents' , 'downloads', 'pictures' etc can be assigned to a different drive. Go to properties and select 'location'
It's been 4 yrs since this clip was posted...
These are my pc specs:
MB: Asus Z690 Maximus hero
RAM: 64gb (2x32gb) g.skill Trident Z 5600mhz ddr5
NVME: 2x Samsung nmve 1tb 980 pro
HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 4tb 3.5"
CPU: i9-13900k
GPU: Gigabyte 3080 Ti Eagle OC
COOLER: Gigabyte waterforce 360
CASE: CM TD500 mesh
PSU: Corsair HX1000
I know it may seem like overkill, but I've future proofed it a little as well. I have to say this machine is super fast!
I use Autocad, Revit, Lumion, Photoshop, 3DS Max.
I would not recommend a small SSD for your system drive, if you use autodesk software. It loads 2/3 of its info on the system drive even if you direct it to load elsewhere.
Thumbs up!
Video is little old, but let's comment anyway :)
I'm using laptop (Revit, AutoCAD, PS, etc.) mainly because I don't have good a chair. My back is quite sensitive, so I use to change place of work - from desk, to sofa, sometimes to bed. And biggest problem in that case is dust and fluff that gather on ventilation inside computer. Though laptop's parameters are still good, the phisical condition goes down faster.
Thank you for your videos. Regards
Hi Messi , you are the best! Can't wait for your next face video! :D
Thanks for all great videos you provided, very informative, Learn a lots from your videos, My System: Acer Predator Helios, 15" Full HD 144Hz, i7 9750, RAM 16GB, GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti, SSD 256 GB, HDD 1TB
Hello! Do you think that the GTX 1650 is good enough for architecture students?
Hey mate first I'd like to thank you for what you're doing since literature is scarce on the internet regarding Architecture ...I was wondering if you can provide us with titles and authors for textbooks about designing processes and structural solutions, I'm a student and even the simplest form create problems for me and where I go to uni there isn't much literature around so we're kinda left on our own ..The only one I posses is Architectural Data by Peter and Ernest Neufert. Serbian/Croatian language will do just as well as English in my case :D ...Thank you again ,and all the best.
I agree (in general), but laptops are not bad choices like a couple of years ago, and they are definitely
lightweight and you should not need Cooling Pads if it is well designed and is suitable for using programs that demand great performance . With the graphics cards the same thing happens, the GTX series has improved a lot because of the demand and you can perfectly use it for architecture and they cost generally less than the QUADRO series, of course, this last is the most appropriate as you say. Also, today the best hard drives are the PCI EXPRESS / NVME SSD, these are the new generation of SSD and are incredibly fast, so you can have both types of SSD and forget the HARD DRIVE if you want.
Thanks for the video

Hello, I would like to ask you if imac and macbook would run smooth revit, autocad and 3d max? No crashes and possible bugs
Good video man.... Hey guys, remember revit and vray and other programs, rebderize whit cpu.... I think a great machine would be : i7 or i5 9gen /R7 ; ram :16 ; SSD at least 256 GS and if you have money a card grafhic dedicadet over 3000 points passmark
Dear friend
Does the laptop Lenovo legion y520 is better for using Revit Auto Cad and Photoshop will u recommend this sort of laptop for an architect.
3:00 - What about AMD's RX580 or RX590, if not Vega ? In regards to NVIDIA Quadro, it would be nice if you've added benchmark references in render time etc. in order to demonstrate some impossible ROI (or value as dollar for performance vs costs and contractual downtime)... But anyways this clip targets school students and such on a budget, so yeah, you're right. I'd also lurk towards AMD's GC which are cheaper for about the same performance. And in regards to architects and engineers, as opposed to NVDIA's gaming solutions (including the RTX 2080), its ALU cores allow for 64 bit double precision calculations... Personally if I was a student with a budget, I'd go with one RX580-RX590, or better yet, two or three RX580 in Crossfire (AMD's Crossfire also adds more relative efficiency than NVIDIA's SLI). The RX580 is cheaper, offers more memory and works better than a NVIDIA 1060 and compares to a 1070 (I'm not talking about gaming fps...). Two in crossfire easily beat the NVIDIA 1070 and competes with a 1080 or 2080 in several areas like calculation hash (kind of the same iterative stress imposed by finite element mesh rendering for instance)
as a quadro user i may share a little secret - quadro doesnt do shit for 3ds max workflow, nor are they good for most renderers. they have their use in solidvorks, and some other software, but it really vary from software to software. in fact you will be way better of with high end gaming card in 3ds max.
the video is mostly an assembly of "professional" cliches you might read on forums where people have no idea what they are talking about.
Thanks a lot Balkan, I watch and learn from your video’s every day!
My personal tip for small businesses is: get your computer from your local Autodesk supplier and let them solve every problem you might run into.
I run a constructional engineering business with full 3D output, calculations and modeling.
My setup: HP zBook 17” with lots of good stuff inside, @office an LG 43” 4k monitor - laptop screen = off Logitec keyboard and trackball working both the zBook and an iMac.
Is it possible to build on a AIO? Like the surface studio? I love the fact that I can draw on it but I want to add on to it, I'm just not sure how to.
I want to add 2cents to the gpu stuff. A quadro card is overpriced due to error checking. If you are working as a freelancer for big arch firm then get a quadro if you are a student go for gtx1070ti its the best of the new stuff and the 1070ti tend to be as good as gtx1080. Dont ever go below gtx1070 the memory required by rendering 3d will cause instability even on sketchup.
Hi, thanks for the video!! i have the same graphic card (quadro k620 and i like it). recently i use Lumion 7.5 ansd these day i ordered a gtx780ti because lumion needs a big one but for Revit (in the future i will use it) make me think if the gtx will be better. what you think?
7? 80? What in the... Bro. I don't even know what to say to you. I have never once in my life heard anyone talk about a GTX 780. BOI you should have either gotten a GTX 10 anything or wait to get the GTX 2060.
For laptops with g card for Revit, cad, sketch up, which is best to buy a laptop please tell me name.
How much graphics card used to minimum
hes a legend. hes not blinking
this guy has Revit obsession
No Ryzen processor in recommendation? They are so much better for rendering in price/performance ;)
Edit: there are many videos about Quadro vs GTX for Revit and 3Ds MAX, you can go with a gamer GPU :)
Which is best processor among this Intel i7 , i9, xeon or AMD 2nd gen ryzen threadripper
Hi, can you tell me how is that professional graphics card (k620 2gb 64bit) better than, for example, GTX 1050-Ti (4gb 128bit)? On benchmark, GTX has about 3 times better result in every single test. What are the advances of professional card over gaming card? They are almost the same price (about 200 euros), and I'm so confused right now.
Keep up with good work, cheers! o/
you need to change that cooler for your CPU, man any gen i7 on stock cooler is like calling for a reactor meltdown and get a ryzen pc, cuz Revit now uses multiple threads
I think his workstation laptop recommendation is wrong ... gaming laptops literally offer same performance in many rendering softwares while being much cheaper than a workstation laptop
Yeah, and going for a workstation Quadro gpu with a mid range consumer cpu is kind of a joke too.
I have a decent gaming laptop that I use at Uni for Revit, SketchUp and AutoCAD and it works fine.
OMG! so that's the Mighty Balkan Architect 🙂 !!! anyway, I missed your Russian accent 🙂
i guess this is the first time we saw this voices face :)
Actually for Revit you need high single thread performance, graphic card is almost irrelevant. Average GeForce is perfectly fine and will be faster in rendering than pro card, the only advanatage of professional cards are certified drivers and less power consumption they are targeted at corporate clients which require tech support etc. For rendering in Revit only then one needs more cores.
What about monitor, which monitor good if we use softwares like revit, Photoshop and lumion?
sorry man but you are wrong with the laptops. I am not a gamer and I use Alienware 17 to work with Revit, Autocad, 3d max + vray , sketchup, rhino and Adobe products..... I never ever had a problem and it was as fast as my desktop ( both brand new at the time).
i use my laptop with a second monitor as well.
Edlir Habili I use to buy workstations with dual processors and high-end video cards but the cost/benefit radio compared to lifetime of the hardware doesn’t make sense now.
an I7 or I9 processor and 32/64GB ram with a high-end Geforce is a monster in most of the cases.
Why would a gaming laptop be bad? I mean I know they are heavy and all and aren’t ideal for portability, but the have good specs and a good graphics card which would be great for auto CAD and revit.
Hii
Best laptop for interior design
Use cad sketchup 3ds max
I confuse
Where buying a laptop
Did he really say they are bad? I don't think that's what he meant!
It all depends on what you want to throw money at computer wise, but bear in mind laptops can't handle the higher end cpus because of thermal throttling, so definitely when rendering you'd be silly to use a laptop, since it can't handle having the cpu maxed out.
Should invest in processor with turbo boost than with more cores
I adore you
Bro...i have a sony vaio i purchased it in 2010...i need to buy a pc...i am confused weather to buy lappy or desctop...i might need my lappy im college or at work ..so i should go fr desktop or go fr laptop..
Hhheeeyyy you got a face i was expecting a robot hehehe nice advice keep up the good work
Humans suspect nothing, the disguise has worked hehe
Pozdrav. Pitanje u vezi monitora. Ako nije problem. Ravan 34 ili zakrivljeni 34 monitor, ista rezolucija 3440x1440, ravan je IPS panel a zakrivljeni je VA panel. Koji bi ti licno odabrao od ova dva za Revit. Hvala
Sir which Nvidia rtx series graphic card is equal to qudro series card???
Because Quadro series is much costly...
Running windows on macbook pro can we install pirated software of autocad & revit ? By downloading it by torrent or any other links ? As my student license is expired , even autodesk subscription is too expensive !
i feel like he's staring into my soul
hahaha me too
Hello sir I'm a architect student this video was very useful and I've planned to buy a work station, thank you sir.
Don't waste your money on the quadro GPU just get a GTX GPU, the best you can afford. Spend what you save on the GPU on the CPU. Revit likes high clock rate better than more cores.(well for Revit 2018) not sure if this is the same for Revit 2019.
Daryl Summer Do you recommend an RTX to CAD? The Quadro graphic cards are still expensive...
I love youuuuu
what happend with subtitles! thanks balkan!
Pls review these two machines for 3ds MAX - VRay rendering.
ALIENWARE AREA 51m ( intel core i9 - 9900k & RTX 2080 , 32 GB RAM ) it's a desktop replacement device.
&
Alienware m17 r2 ( intel core i7-9750h & RTX 2080 Max Q , 16 GB RAM)
I don't think Quadro K620 works so well with Revit when the 3D model is a little bit complicated. It's the same as Intel processor graphics.
Ryzen card or Intel core processor. I can't seem to decide.
I think gaming laptops are the best laptops for architecture, they might be slower when rendering images but most of them have good graphics card(lag free 3d modeling) and a great cooling system which can withstand heat. I've been using my gaming laptop for 5 years and I could say it's the best investment that I've ever made. It only broke once and that's because of the power supply. Workstation laptops are expensive and have a poor cooling system, my friends broke their laptops or Pc's often when rendering or 3d modeling building
My man's wants to pair a dual core or quad core with a quadro
hi,
i stil still confused about witch better Quadro k6000 or RTX 2080 ???
& witch better CPU xenon or cor i9 or i7 ???
any one try ??
