Damnit...I'm possibly one of the biggest Alstom fanboys in the world, and this still made me P myself in hysterics! 🤣👍 Though in (fanboyesque) fairness: If FGW had bothered to maintain them properly... 🚄💯😉
Both the 175 & 180s (same train pretty much as they were part of the same order with First) were plagued with reliability issues when new the 175s whilst reliable now are suffering from corrosion issues the 180s are still suffering with issues now. I find the 175s much more comfier and quieter than a 185 which is one of the Coradia 1000s strong points, if Alstom had managed to sort the problems out before service I think more would have been built as they do have a really nice layout
I know always thought the curvy front on these was hideous and I still think it is in fact I think it looks better under the grand central livery. Its funny how he can say its the safest train in the world when there is a pendolino in the background which already is brilliant. The class 180 stands no chance against a class 43 hst the hsts were much better than the crappy class 180s which are dangerous grockles.
DigitalSciGuy All 14 to have ever existed do exist. Now they have the 800 which can do 140 and has an electric mode so they don’t have to use as much fuel. Two operators have them and one wants to get rid of them.
I'm not going to go anywhere near the reputation the Adelante gained in service, but what I can't get was what on earth fGW were thinking ordering 5-car DMUs for services that were ordinarily operated using HSTs with *eight entire cars* to them? 😲 And they wondered why people complained about having to stand... 😼
I wonder what sound levels will be like inside the carriages? I look forward to travelling in one to see how much engine noise can be heard inside. One thing i liked about loco hauled trains was the low noise level in the passengers areas.
The Class 800 cannot use its 140MPH top speed thanks to the ECML Limit of 125MPH. (I talk about the ECML because the only Class 180s operate on the East Coast.
Um, these were all built in 2002 - it's an old video you see so the trains aren't actually new now! First Great Western got rid of them in 2007/2008 because they were so unreliable! They got some back in 2012 but now they're going again! Fourteen were ordered.
A person might expect a fire extinguisher or two or a first aid kit as well as safety systems to stop the train. along with a bitter coffee and a pre packed sandwich curling at the corners FFS what's new!

alstom be like: "haha, we didnt make these for reliability! we made them for paul tyreman!"
4:36 foreshadowing on a level you cannot make up
I love how they a bragging about how it will be reliable yet 20 years later, they are still suffering from problems!
Very nice trains these. Brakes are the noisiest in the world but still cool :P

Due to poor punctuation this is hard to understand but are you saying the TPE 185s are Alston? Because they are not, they are Siemens Desiro.
"Class 175 have corrosion issues"
*175 runs on the coast

Did they ever fix the engine problems on these?
no

Badly

Which one wants to get rid of them? Im assuming Hull Trains because why not? (I mean GC are refurbishing them)
They haven’t…

..they've been around for years and are good apart, perhaps, from a reliability issue?..
800 is better anyway. It tan go 140 and has electric power.

@@NaenaeGaming The ECML has not been upgraded for 140 yet anyway so the track is not suitable and also 800s operate GWR too, not just ECML.
