    I have lived at the base of the Santa Catalina's for 33 years and I concur that everything about the Sonoran desert in this area is AMAZING. Tucson alone is just lovely.

I've tried to explain how/why it's so special, to some people in other areas who aren't familiar with the area, but words don't really convey what is so magical about the Santa Catalina mountains, and this desert valley of Tucson. @@dannoringer Yes, Dan - I would move back to Tucson in a heartbeat, but it seems like everything there has gotten prohibitively expensive lately - probably ditto for everywhere else since the pandemic. If you know of any cheap temporary places to stay while I am looking for a more permanent place to live, please let me know. As torrential rains continue to pound southern California, where I am right now, I am constantly reminded of how drier desert weather is much more suited to me. BTW - my favorite bookstore in the whole world, Bookman's, is located in downtown Tucson.

      @@naiman4535 Thanks again for the comment. Yes, I agree with your assessment about the inflation of property in the Tucson area. @@emnurse2056 Dear em: Thank you for your comment. I think both Colossal cave and kartchner are excellent cases. Certainly Kartchner is an amazing cave and a great way to spend an afternoon visiting it. I assure you that Kartchner will be in one of my (near) future videos. One of the issues I may have though is that Kartchner doesn't allow cameras inside the cave, and my style of producing is that I like to show my viewers some of the interesting "stuff" associated with any given venue. Maybe kartchner would provide a waiver for a video like this, since it's to inform the public about the venue, but I'm just guessing on that speculation. Anyway, I'll find out, and if they will allow it, then you can bet that I'll be including Kartchner in one of the next few videos. Thank you again for your comment. regards, Dan

      Dear Maccasey: Thank you for your comment. I am always trying to work on my narrating and speaking skills, which I am sure are far from perfect. But I'm slightly confused as to what gaffe that I made attempting to narrate at 16:26(min:sec elapsed time on video) Unless I'm mistaken, that is just one second before the end of the video, and I had already finished the narration, and as far as I can tell, there isn't any voice track at that moment. Please tell me where my gaffe is located so I can work on doing a better job next time. Thanks again for noticing and pointing out my mistake. I strive for mistake free narration and editing, but it's not easy. Regards and best wishes to you, Dan

    Good video, but it would hold viewers' attention better if it was 8 minutes long instead of 16 minutes.

    • @dannoringer
      @dannoringer  Год назад +1

      Ken: Thank you very much for your comment. I think that you are spot on, that shorter videos would probably do better. But it's very hard to cover 6 subjects, each with only about 3 minutes each, and at 8 minutes, you're talking about 1 minute each. To convey so much information in 1 minute will take a lot more work. If the pay was better, I could spend more than the 2 weeks on each video that I currently spend. But I will take your suggestion as a challenge on my next video to reduce the duration by 10 or 15%, or 4 or 5 minutes. Thanks again for the great suggestion !!! Regards, dan

      @@hlw1306 Dear HLW: Thank you for your comment !! I especially appreciate that you enumerated the things that you liked about the video, and that you didn't like. That there wasn't anything that you didn't like is also good, although it's harder to improve if you don't know what people really don' t like. But I guess if there isn't anything, then that's a good sign, that I'm getting closer to my goal. Yes, I really do know what you mean about video that spare the viewer looking at the producer's crazed expressions or watching them doing innane or ordinary things that the viewer could care less about watching. I also have learned from watching the works of other producers, and it seems there are many bad habits out there to be avoided, that most producers doing travel videos don't appreciate or fully understand. I try to explain what the video is about with a friendly greeting that only lasts for a few seconds, and then on with the subject matter, which is what the viewer came to this video to consume. I have had other viewers complain about the length of the video lasting 16 minutes, but with each of 6 segments being an average of 3 minutes each plus or minus, it's pretty difficult to provide enough content or information to fully cover the segment topic in less time than I used here, so much for my problems. His point is that everybody would like to get the most information in the shortest amount of time, and I'm like most people in that regard. So my goal in the future in these videos is to make each segment as close to 2 minutes as possible without cheating the topic, but I mean you really should see what I have left on the cutting room floor, it's a shame. But it's important to stay on topic and be focused, and viewers do appreciate that discipline. So that is what I strive to achieve. Anyway, thanks again for your comment, it was very helpful feedback. Best regards, Dan

      @@hlw1306 HLW: Again, let me thank you for your comment !! Again you provide very useful information to me as I get VERY LITTLE feedback, unfortunately, and what I do get I cherish. THANK YOU !! About snakes, gila monsters, and other creepy crawly things that you (and most people) would rather not deal with... These creatures are what are called cold blooded creatures, meaning that their body temperature is controlled by their environment. Unlike humans, these creatures do not have internal controls on their body temperature. Consequently, these creatures hibernate starting when the outside temperature average drops below about 80 degrees farenheit. This normally occurs in Tucson sometime around the second week of November, and the temperature begins to average above 80 degrees Farenheit after about the third week of March, although most snakes aren't fully active until a couple or three weeks after that date, or about mid-April every year. So my wife and I travel to Tucson about the 2nd week of November every year, and we leave for the northwest about the second week of April the following year, spending the "so called" winter months in Tucson, where it is normally about 65 degrees F. to about 75 degrees F, and there are no bugs, no Scorpions, no Snakes, no Tarantulas, and no gila monsters, nor any other creepy crawly creatures out and about. As far as the heights goes, the Tucson valley is at about 2,500 feet plus or minus, and the mountains vary from about 5,000 up to about 9,000feet above sea level. If you have any other questions about Tucson, I've spent time over the last ten years here, and I know a bit about this area, and I'd be glad to answer any other questions that you may have about this wonderful area. Again, thank you for your comment. Regards and best wishes, Dan
