- Tucson, Arizona is a fantastic city with an amazing food scene and fantastic adventures to be had all over the city. I spent the better part of a week exploring Tucson and compiled some of my favorite spots into this list. These are just a few of the great things you can do in Tucson and they include museums, hiking trails, scenic drives and historic points of interest. Let me know what you think of these recommendations in the comments and be sure to let me know if I left something off.

I grew up in Tucson, 1958-1969. When I say "Tucson es mi corazon", I mean it! 👍
Oh, yes; don't forget the submarine races on "A" Mountain! A favorite spot for high school students back in the day!
"Submarine races"!!! I haven't heard that expression since I was stationed at DM (74-78).

In 1966, when I was in high school, I did a summer program at the University of Arizona. We toured many of these same sites. I saw the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum when it was far smaller (been a member ever since), and toured the Titan missile base when it was still operational. Now, THAT was a tour! Unfortunately our transportation was an old school bus with no air conditioning, and when we were leaving (or trying to), they declared an alert as an exercise and sealed the base. We sat in the baking sun inside that bus for 45 minutes.
For the hipster in you... Don't forget Fourth Avenue.

That's it! I'm going to have to go back to Arizona now. I spent 3 months in Phoenix for work and I explored the area along with Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, Monument Valley, and Page. I fell in love with those areas, but never made it to Tucson. I'm happy to have another excuse to go back.
You missed some VERY cool things: Tohono Chul Park, Tucson Botanical Gardens, Tubac, Tumacocori Mission (a bit south of Tucson), Saguaro National Park East, Catalina State Park. Not sure I'd recommend University of AZ unless there is an event to see as parking is impossible. And if you visit in January and February there's the Tucson Gem and Mineral show (largest in the world) and the Tucson Rodeo.

that gem show alone is worth going for. I went a couple of days in a row ! And what about the old tucson film studios? that is a really neat thing, specially if you have seen some westerns. I think even bonanza was filmed there. Spent a whole day there. Ah the good old days LOL
The drive to Mt Lemmon is worth it for the view and to get away from the Tucson heat as it is like 75\80F up there during summer. A great humm bird feeding\ watching spot is the Santa Rita lodge parking spot and Madera Canyon for day\overnight hiking, when weather gets cooler. Southern AZ is nationally known for the migrant bird stop during winter. I also add Kartcher Cavern if you have an extra day stay.

Next time you're in Tucson, drive Campbell dr at night as far north as you can. Totally free spot to see Tucson lights at night. Very beautiful!

I live in Tucson in the Foothills at the base of the Santa Catalinas.The Sonoran desert is green and magical and the sunsets and sunrises never get old. Thanks for showing some love to my fair city.

My husband has just been offered a good job at the AF base-we plan to visit there in two weeks (the company he’d work for is flying us there to see it/feel it out)-
Wondering, especially from those of you who LIVE there, where should we be looking at area-wise for the best charter schools and real estate options???
We are moving from a little town in Oregon where we were raised and moved back to after having kids.

Was in Tucson back in 1982 training on the A-10 at Davis Monthan AFB. My favorite tour was the aircraft boneyard.
Two A-10’s over head every 15 minutes during the summers. I also remember one went down near the UofA. The pilot egressed successfully and no one on the ground was killed. I was living in student housing near the university hospital in 82’
Two things. You forgot to mention that you can Summit Mt Lemmon by taking a ski lift to the top. It really is an incredible experience. Also you can’t go to Tucson without stopping in at Tombstone! It’s an incredibly iconic destination with the site of the most famous gunfight of all time!!
She was highlighting Tucson, not Tombstone! That's an hour and a half south. Let's be fair, eh?
Been feeling homesick. I used to live on the west side of the saguaro national park west. This list is pretty comprehensive. Old Tucson is reopening soon. Definitely add it on your next trip. Particularly if you have youngins.

I haven't seen Arizona in a few years but, it was amazing! I miss it. If you decide to go, don't forget your sunglasses, hat and lots of water. It is hot. Hot, hot ,HOT. Did I mention it was hot? Late October is perfect. Like summer but not letscooksteakonthehood hot.
Also worth mentioning is Arizona Zipline Adventures 1 hour north of Tucson via AZ 77

The saguaro national park is incredible during spring. The summer monsoon season is pretty incredible too. Best time for sunset viewing.
Tucson native here. It snows on mt. Lemmon every year. It’s pretty cool.
Probably the fakest review I have ever read.
Another recommendation is Madera canyon south of Tucson, which also has the Smithsonian institute observatory visitors center on Mt. Hopkins. Madera canyon is in my opinion a better visit than Sabino canyon, while your in that area, visit Tubac as well.

My three suggestions, Colossal Caves, Kitt Peak, and Desert Adventures Silver Mine tour.
Nice job, but for one significant "Ooops!" ... on the slides, it's consistently misspelled TuSCon ... Nope, it's TuCSon ... and you did miss some biggies ... The Boneyard (largest airplane storage facility in the world!) ... bird watching paradise ... Paul McCartney's ranch (yes, THAT Paul McCartney) ... well, you'll just have to come back.
I travelled 11 times 6 weeks across the states, but I still discover new places to visit, thanks for share it. I think to come back in 2024 for 3 months more 😀

Sabino Canyon is fun! You can take the shuttle to the top and there’s a paved trail too. Lots of cougars in that canyon probably because there’s a stream running through it. I took the shuttle($)! There’s also a nice gift shop and little museum/educational displays of wild life.

My son and family just moved here. I was there for a few days helping them get moved in. So beautiful up along the Catalina foothills
I was at Mt. Lemmon a few years ago before returning home after a work trip, you are right that the trip up to the mountain is long on a vehicle. The climate on May is very rewarding when the valley around the mountain is on the triple digits and near the summit is on the 60s.
I have no recommendations bc I think you do fantastic in all of these videos but I LOVE the food recommendations. I love finding a new place to eat at. So well done. Good job man. Keep the city videos coming!
I lived in Tucson for five years from 2011 to 2016. I have to get back to visit friends. You did a great job covering the great spots to visit. I lived close to Mt. Lemmon and the National Park. There are a lot of great places to hike.
I was born and raised in Tucson and lived there until I was 24 (1993). I spent a year in Sierra Vista (which I greatly preferred, probably because it was different lol) then moved to Western Oregon in 1994. I have not been back since. Lately, my husband and I have been talking about going since he's never been there. Many of the places on your list are ones that I've told him are must-sees. I'm also hoping the planetarium at the UofA is still open, I want to show him the AF base (mostly because I grew up about a mile from there) and I'm hoping the person below who said Old Tucson will be opening again soon is right because it was always one of my favorite places. I'm also hoping the Golf n Stuff/Things (can't remember which one it was last lol) next to Trail Dust Town is still open because they have no good mini golfing here. Of course, we'll have to go to Eegee's and Lucky Wishbone, too! Thanks for the video, it actually made me miss Tucson a little lol! I'll show it to him so he can get a better idea of the things I've told him about.

Good video. We spent a couple of days in Tucson, but we were at Loews Ventana Canyon. We went into the city for dinner a couple of times, but didn't have much free time. Next trip, we can rewatch this video before we leave.
I have good friends in Tucson and would love to see the national park there. Cool to see what else is there

The museums sound very interesting.
No words can truly capture the beauty of Arizona... Specially Sedona you could say there are these huge red sandstone rocks everywhere jutting up from the desert and making everything else feel tiny by comparison.🌵😍

Dang it's crazy that I have been to a lot of these mesuems as a kid in school and always found them quite interesting but as a kid I never took too much time to actually think about what I was looking at. I'm definitely going to have to revisit all of these.
Thanks! Bring or rent bikes and do the loop trail to check out the murals (My avatar is part of one as well as my desktop background). We rode about 32 miles and saw dozens of fabulous murals and other art works, plus a family of javelina crossing the trail. I'd definitely do that again!

Tucson is a pretty good place to live. I do love having the National Park as bookends and get out to one side or the other at least once a month. And yes, that cookie shop on Mt. Lemmon is ridiculous in the best possible way.
Old Tucson needs its own video. As does MLB Spring Training. My wife and I love your channel.

Way cooler than I was expecting! I thought it would just be cacti and desert which isn't that fascinating to me. Loving all the cool sights like the museums and restaurants.
At 7:19 you said, "it's incredible how many there are" in relation to the miniatures. Audibly, that sounds funny...like a pun! Haha.
I live in Tucson, and the Miniature is my favorite Museum. They sell some miniatures as well. My granddaughter played the violin, and I found a miniature one, case and all!
You missed the wineitos sleeping in the park across from the public library, two blocks from my middle school.

We are not really city folks although we have found some we really like and Tucson is one of them. It does a great job combining the natural with the cultural--come to think of it that may be why we find certain cities enjoyable while others not so much.
We would highly recommend staying at the Hotel McCoy while in the area. It is such a jewel and so much better than staying in a typical "cookie cutter" one.
My great aunt and uncle lived in Old Tuscon in the 1930s. The move to Sacramento area around 1940 (+/-). I have some old paintings by someone that lived in Old Tuscon that are nice.

@Mutant , Are your paintings done in charcoal? My mom was the manager of the wax museum and her sister drew paintings of John Wayne, and a lot of the people who were on movie sets at old tucson . The both were so very talented and accomplished musicians who played in Chicago philharmonic orchestra . My aunt played piano and my mom played the violin. Their parents started the lessons with each one 3 hours a Day every day starting at age 5 and 6. (1930) so if you ever made it into the wax museum, you may have met them both. 🤗🦊🏜️🌵🎻🎹
We did a Tucson trip last year!! Did you eat at El Guero Canelo Sonoran Hot dogs? Also a Titan Missile Museum???? We did Pima Air but I did not know that was there! We also did a run to Tombstone. I love Tucson!!!

Mt Lemon and Sabino Canyon would be my recommendations. The Foothills of Tucson is the place to stay and hang out along River Road. Great golf courses and resorts in that area. Downtown Tucson is tired and run down. Old Tucson used to be a fun stop west of Tucson which was a great movie set to many old, iconic western movies made, by John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood to name a few. I believe it burned down years ago and was not replaced. A short drive from Tucson in the direction of Benson, leads you to Tombstone, a fun historic stop.
You've not been here recently, have you? Downtown is so revitalized. There's a lot going on downtown these days.

The Presidio Foundation is supposed to take charge of the Fort Lowell Museum, and get it reopened sometime in the not-too-distant future.

I took a trip across the U.S. when I was 17 years old, ended up in Tucson and fell in love with the state and Tucson area. I told myself I will come back to live there. In 2014 me and wife went to Oro Valley to help our sister-in law to cope with her husbands death [ wife`s brother] sadly we haven`t been back since. Its 2023 now and I wish I could back, maybe one day in the future. My wife does not want to leave our grand kids in New Jersey. I told her the kids and our son and his wife will have a new place to visit. I pray one day it might happen!

Great video. . .but! I worked in media a long time and have just a few tips: 1. If you using a darker based make up, consider blending it down your neck. In some shots you look like your wearing a dark mask. 2. There is an adjustment to you phone/camera that will flip signs around. It's in settings. GREAT VIDEO! A good watch and very professionally produced! Just a few tips.
Heard that if you don't like 100+ degree weather, don't go to Tucson during the summer.
