After doing some more research, we learned the correct pronunciation for Abert's in Abert's Towhee is like "A" as in "Ace", A-bert-s as opposed to Ab-erts. Just a heads up! :)
We moved from Midwest to SW. We miss some of our old bird friends but gained a whole new extended family of species. Where we live our local habitat the Abert’s Towhee has become our new Common ground bird instead of robin. They are resident year round. We have seen a robin or two in the grassy city parks. Glad you were able to see our local friends during your visit. The Sonoran Desert Museum should be on your list next time.
It's crazy seeing all your Arizona uploads! I birded this same place a couple years back allllll the time while living in Tucson. Such a great spot and the people there are super nice and helpful. Sora's live in those bigger pools of water and there is a spot across the fence where a ton of ducks sit. Gambles quail are about as common as robins are in certain parts of Tucson, but have always been one of my favorite birds of the south west.
I would love to visit this area, as well as Saguaro National Park. I'd enjoy seeing Gamble's quails as well as the greater roadrunner and Scott's oriole.
Lovely. You two get around a bit don't you?! I wonder how many miles you've done so far this year? I love those quails with the black feather pointing forward on their heads. What an extraordinary feature. It looks quite comical! 🤭
Thanks for the video of desert habitat and different species of some of my favorite birds. Love your calm, articulate style paired with buttoned down excitement necessary to keep the birds from scattering. 😂😊
Good spot to see a bobcat as well. There is a female that comes in from along the Santa Cruz River corridor. I’ve seen her a couple times. Once feeding on a rabbit she’d caught.
It’s so awesome seeing you guys in Arizona! The quail and the towhees both visit my backyard daily. I’ve never seen the Verdin though what a sweet little bird.
Fantastic place; I've seen foxes, bobcats, coyotes and all sorts of birds there; the redwinged blackbirds nest there all over the place, and it's a regular hunting ground for three or four species of hawks. Tons of turtles, too-- I think some of them have been dumped there; I've seen several really sizeable softshells of some sort in the ponds.
It's so great that you guys are venturing far afoot! I love your travel videos and your enthusiasm for all the new species you get to see for the first time. :)
I was just there in may! If you guys get a chance to ever go back, do it! I was there around 10-11am and was lucky to spot a vermillion flycatcher right beside the lake. I’m assuming they hang out there all spring-summer.
Greetings! I've been away from the channel because I'm no longer truck driving. I wonder if you guys passed through El Paso, Tx to get to Tucson... El Paso also has the Gambels Quail, the chicks are extremely cute as they will follow mom and dad in a single file line as they move along. My neighbor across the street was blessed one year as a family of quail nested in their yard, or at least found shelter there for awhile. We also have the Nighthawks, and as mentioned before the White Winged doves in great abundance! Nice watching your videos again 😃
For a second I thought this video was about Sweetwater wetlands where I live in Gainesville, Florida 😅 It's also a great birding hotspot, especially for wading birds and waterfowl, but we get many different types of birds there.
Hey guys! Just found this channel, and it's awesome! Love the bird ID tips, birding adventures (like this one), and when you just sit down and talk about stuff as well. Anyway, just wanted to pop in to show my support and let you know that you've gained another subscriber! Definitely telling my birder friends about this. See you on the nature trail, and as always, happy birding! -S.C.
No problem guys! My pleasure. Say, have y'all ever really birded the Great Plains? We have some awesome stuff out here I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy seeing.

Have visited twice in the last year. A favorite!
Great place!

The quails were adorable! And really beautiful. Another excellent video.
Wonderful birding day. I enjoyed the Quails very much. We have California Quail here and I just love watching them.
Glad you enjoyed it! Quail are awesome!
We got our lifer Abert’s there, too, a couple years ago. Parking lot bird upon arrival. What a thrill. And that is a fantastic space indeed!
Must be a great spot for them!
I have a pair of them living in my yard, when I found them in my field guide I was surprised how small the range was
Quail!! Love them!!
As always very interesting guys thanks Steve🇬🇧
You're welcome!
First 🤣. Lesser nighthawks are nice. Hoping to get GAQU in CO. 🤞
🥇 Good luck on the quail quest!
