I made this last night as a side dish for grilled salmon, and I ate most of it standing in the kitchen before the salmon was even cooked! It's sooooooo good! I usually don't like sweet & sour sauces, but this was just right. Super easy to make, too. Thank you Maangchi!

No matter what when I'm cooking asparagus I always feel bad for throwing away like an inch of food away. this is the first time I've heard that you could put it in vegetable stock this is amazing!
You can also peel the lower half so you don't have to cut it off

@@keepitreal8939 not as expensive as Korea for sure!! Certain vegetables and fruit that aren’t local to kore are way way more expensive. I remember being shocked at Korean grocery stores!

I tried this yesterday, I loved it.❤❤i cuted 5cm pieces and after mixed everything, wait 30 mins and then eat. Better than eat immediately. Sauce go into asparagus 🥰

아스파라거스 다른채소들이랑 볶아먹어도 진짜 맛있더라구요. 서양식재료라고 생각했는데 의외로 우리나라 조리법이랑도 잘맞는 야채인거 같아요.
양배추나 깻잎, 호박잎 데쳐서 저 양념장이랑 싸먹어도 맛있을것 같아요.

When I was a young boy in the mid/late 60's asparagus used to grow wild in the ditch behind our house, Used to love picking and eating it raw. My great grandmother always grew her own garden and that may be why I like things like broccoli and asparagus ,(Also crab apples, eggplant , wild strawberries okra ... and fruitcake.). In later years I grew to love pan fried asparagus fried in butter with nothing more than salt and pepper. Thanx for the reminder, I actually have some in my fridge right now...Will be cooking it up this weekend.

Actually, it's not that commonly eaten in Korea unless we're having some sort of fancy steak. It's on the rare and expensive side, but it is available!
@@user-nm7nl5jh2j that's crazy it's so expensive! It literally grows along road sides in the US. My late Papa's farm is almost over run with the stuff at this point.

Where I live in Germany we have very sandy soil perfect for asparagus and strawberries! We always look forward to spring to be able to eat it. White asparagus is very expensive tho, so sometimes people call it the white gold over here :)

A huge gamsahamnida for this lovely recipe! Aspargus is quite cheap here in Sweden (at least comparing with South Korea). And it is also in season now! For many people here, aspargaus is a culinary synonym with spring itself. 😊

Maangchi... Is One minute all the Asparagus needs to cook? Everything you made looks so good, so colorful and fresh.. I want to grow Asparagus in my garden... it lasts for sometims 40 years.. as One huge plant as it matures
Yes, asparagus with thin stems will need only 1 minute blanching but if they are thick, blanch 2 minutes.
