May - I've turned a number of people onto tofu. I explain to them that you have to understand it. Tofu is like pasta - it's a blank slate (ever eat cooked pasta with no salt? it's horrible!) so you have to do something with it. Once they get that concept the door cracks open a little bit more. A good (male) friend who went vegan at 68 (now 79) was very wary of tofu. Now he can't get enough of it - especially siracha or sesame tofu, his 2 favorites. Maangchi, you are the BEST!!! I began cooking Korean 20 years ago when I moved to Seoul. Once I was adopted by a young Korean couple (who had no dad) and I became their adopted dad, that meant I was always cooking something for them. So, I had to learn Korean food preparation. It was hit and miss from the start as well as my own inventions combing American food with Korean products. I struggled and they ate! Of course we ate out often which was much of my learning. Street food was also lots of fun. Now back in the US, watching your videos make me reminesce and home sick for my kids back in Korea. Thanks for the memories!

Because those tofu recipe in the US or in europe you can normaly find, are not made by asians, who has been using this ingredient for millennia. Also the tofu itself is dry and crumbly when it is made by company run by american/european corporations.
I tried this last night and it was delicious, but what really impressed me was that I put the leftovers in the microwave today and it was still crunchy! Will definitely be making this on the regular. Thank you!
Maybe i can make this tofu for breaking fast during ramadhan
I was thinking the same thing
I think will try this
My plan today, too!
hello! My girlfriend is your big fan in cooking. She really loves your recipes. She can cook now at least five Korean dishes. Thank you Maangchi you really are a blessing to most people who really loves to cook.
Thank you Manchi, I learned a lot of easy korean side dishes from you. My family really love it.
That's great! Happy cooking!

@@Maangchi omg thank you so much for responding to my comment 🥰🥰
maangchi talking about us telling her about matched lunchboxes, she really feels pride for us and deservingly for herself as she taught so many of us :)
Friday evening on a cold night in New Zealand and I made this for a comforting end of week meal by the fire. Delicious! Thank you so much, Maangchi! I served it on thinly sliced steamed, green cabbage and the flavours and textures went so well together. We love your recipes :)
👍
@@Maangchi Kamsahamnida. You know you have a fan for life now, right?
@@KD-lf5vn Thank you so much!
Made them last night. It was so good! Thanks for the recipe.
👏
Every time I go to the chinese grocery store, I come back home with my ingredients and start watching Maangchi's video, to have some inspiration for the dinner. Love your video!
I tried it tonight and i am in love with this recipe :D So crunchy, spicy and sugary at the same time. I added sesame seeds and green onions instead of pumpkin seeds :) Thanks Maangchi !
Sounds great!
I just tried this recipe and izzz so good. Plus the tofu's crunch is unreal! Thank you Maangchi!
몇 조각인지 세는데 둘 넷 여섯... 영어를 하고 있는데 익숙한 숫자 세는 방법에 웃음이 나네요 ! 항상 여러번 영상을 돌려보게 되는 매력😍
Your positivity during a time like this is such a relief.
Maangchi! I tried this recipe today and it saved my day! You managed to make me eat tofu ❤️
I'm so glad!
I love your accent, you sound so happy and full of energy! I can't wait to to make this.
A vegetarian from India. Falling in love with Korean cuisine. Made Dubu-Ganjeong. Came out deliciously, restaurant quality. Thanks. Had to substitute gochujang chilli paste with shezuwan chilli sauce.
Maaangchi I'm your secret admirer for years now! Love Korea, love Korean culture and food and your lovely videos!! Hungs and kisses, your favorite fan 😍
👍
Made this with honey instead of rice syrup and it was incredible on some cornstarch-coated tofu! I know this would be amazing on some chicken too
Wonderful!
I was thinking of trying honey too! 💜
Made this tonight for Lunar New Year, and it was absolutely delicious!!!
Wonderful!
cooked this 2 times already and my family. loves it.. even my mother and husband who are not fans of tufo likes it
👏
I've made this tofu twice. It really is super crispy and the use of corn or potato starch to crisp it up makes it also super light!
thanks to maangchi for whom I got to learn so many Korean dishes
Maangchi, this is the first recipe I tried. I loved it. And so did my little family. My toddler loves your videos, and after eating this dish, is a big fan of tofu.
Great news! "My toddler loves your videos, " so cute~ : )
I made this for me, my mom and brother and we all LOVE this!! I actually bought your second cookbook and when it arrived I made 2 other banchan paired with some dessert... I love you Maangchi ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing your recipes
Excellent!! I have some sissies in my family who can't take the heat, so I made them a batch of sauce with less gochujang. If anyone is making this and can't handle the heat, I suggest you put in 1 1/2 tbsp and then taste, then add more if you can. Thanks, Maangchi!
Omg.. I LOVE YOU Maanachi! Thank you for creating all these veggie dishes. Many of our local Korean restaurants do not have many veggie options. Now I can love Korean food too! Thank you! 🖤🖤🖤
I made this as soon as I saw it. So good! And vegan!
13 years ago have passed since I subscribed to this channel. I've learned a lot of Korean recipes that now it takes part of my meals 😍😋☺️ The past year I visited Korea and I saw a television that it showed Maangchi RUclips channel. I was so happy when I saw it haha
I forgot to say I used cornstarch for the tofu and it turned out really crispy crunchy, it was sooo DELICOUS
Great!
Good to know! I'll do it too
From Maangchi, I not only get new insight 'bout delicious dish recepies, but also inspired how Maangchi express himself so friendly, smile, and vibrant. More than it, I also learn English language from him, love it, such English language is simple
Thank you so much Maangchi.. hope you always healthy and happy❤️
Seeing your dishes I started loving Korean food ...thank you
To think all this time I've been dipping tofu pieces one at a time in bowl or cornstarch and making my hands messy. I can't wait to try the shaking technique!
I just made this for dinner and it is my favorite thing I've ever made 😋 😍 That potato starch is a game changer! This is the crunchiest, most delicious tofu I've ever had and I don't even like tofu. There are so many possibilities for sauces too. I'm going to do a buffalo wing style soon 🥰 Thanks for sharing this!!
👏
This looks just like the tofu I get from my favourite restaurant, but I can never get mine to taste the same. Soooo excited right now!!! Thank you!!!
Just made this for the first time, and it was my first time eating tofu. I absolutely loved the recipe! Amazing flavours 10/10 👌🏼
Great! 👏
Thanks to you - I make this recipe a lot. It is AMAZING. Crunchy, a little spice, sweet, salty - the best combo of texture and flavor. I love your recipes, they're so great.
Wonderful!
LOL “1/2 inch social distancing” cracked me right up! Maangchiii you’re too funny!!! I love your eye makeup you’re beautiful just like spring!💗😇😊💕😘
