Wow great video, when the FO pulled back the prop handles and the sound dramatically reduced, it reminded me of when i was flying the twin engine seminole. Amazing how quiet it can get after adjusting the props and rpm
Thank you very much, unfortunately the weather was a little foggy that day, hope to go to St. Maarten again, and then I'll just visit Saba again and it's a dull weather, so I have to take a flight with Winair again another day :-)
It is the Pilot to the left (Roger) who offered me a headphone so I could listen to internal talk and conversations with the control towers. I rent Rogers apartment when I'm on vacation on St. Maarten, I choose those flights where he is a pilot and so he makes sure I'm in seat 2 behind the cockpit, last time he offered me the trip to Saba for free. So he is a good friend to have over there. Pity KLM 747 has stopped the flight to St. Maarten, but there are lots of other planes to look at, if you live in Roger's apartment it allows you to stand on a terrace where the planes land approx. 300-400 meters from you.
Kurt Panduro That's a pretty sweet deal and you can film great videos like this one! I went to med school in the Caribbean and once my friends and I were coming back from holidays and got "stranded" in St. Maarten because Liat decided to leave an hour ahead of schedule so we missed that connecting flight... I'm so glad they did that because we had to spend the rest of the day and night on the island which is absolutely amazing!!! Maho beach was great... I've got a video on my channel getting jet blasted by departing MD11 lol
My wife and I dived off of San Saba on our honeymoon and took this flight to get to the island. Those little cockpit fans at 0:29 are required - every little bit of lift is needed to keep from dropping down into the water :-) We missed our flight out (2nd to last of the day) due to our driver being smashed on rum and my forcing him to stop speeding along the windy roads. We were on the other side of the island and just when we reached the apex and started to come down I saw our flight take off. When we got to the bottom of the hill and the airport i told the steward of our dilemma - no overnight clothing, no luggage! and missed out flight. They were Island calm and told me to wait till the last flight and they would get back with me. We sat around nervous as heck. After everyone else was on board they waved us over and they shoe horned us into the aircraft with me sitting in some tiny jumper seat. The flight took off and unlike the video, when the aircraft left the end of the runway we actually dropped down toward the ocean significantly due to the heavy payload!! The engines were screaming full blast and the plane slowly started to rise and climb out of the hole we were in - it was a blast!!!
I'm amazed they found a piece of land long enough and flat enough to build that strip...though Saba being Dutch, they'd have probably 'poldered' it if need be.
THere is severe static noise coming from your GoPro man. If this happens always (when there is no radio, wifi signals around) consider updating your camera´s firmware or using a proper Micro SD card! I had that problem once! regards!
They're taking off from the shortest commercial runway in the world and you want to add weight, complication and power drain? The Twin Otter is a STOL design not a luxury executive aircraft.
I absolutely love the Twin Otter and had I become a pilot, it would have been my 1st choice! Great video!
The Twin Otter is like a four wheel drive Suburban truck. The engines are P&W PT6 Canadians. Super powerful. You picked a good one friend. 👍🏼👍🏼
i remember having this same pilot back in 2013 and 2014 :o cool, calm and collected :)
Very nice video of one of the most versatile aircraft ever built!
The 5 square mile island of Saba is a storybook place well worth the visit even if you don’t dive. Wonderful people.
Yep and if you're a hiker its great too

Great Pilots! Without any word!

Excellent takeoff from Saba and landing on St Maarten and the Pilots make it look so routine but flying in and out of Saba is not routine.
At 1:11 the FO points to the "Door Unlocked" Caution Light and pops it out so it is no longer indicating.
LMAO
de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter?

Thank you
I like it your video channel RUclips channel thanks for sharing the video channel I like it saba landing 🛬 and takeoff and 🛬 landing in st Maarten
Fantastic aircraft, fantastic pilots!
I take it the throttles are on top because of the high wing configuration?
Audit Recon more that the yoke is central, nowhere else to go!
Why there are ceiling fans on pilots heads ???
very clear video quality. nice. crew looks competent.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
I love this type of video thank you men

Kurt Panduro you were wearing an aviation headset, could you just plug in with the crew ?

Very experienced pilots
Long runway in Sint Maarten, easy landing ;)
DE ZIEGLER Kim lol that's why he let the first officer hold the yoke

Going out = Carrier take off, Coming in = Carrier landing. :-)
I wonder, isn't it impractical to have the thrust levers on the ceiling? Especially in bumpy circumstances? Thanks.
Wowwwwwww thank you
Great video.........but you would never ever get me on that plane.
Than you :-)
Where's your spirit of _adventure_, man? lol
exelents
Thanks

Beautiful fantastik
Dam 👀👀👀👀👀👀
Velivolo suggestivo e molto maneggevole ma rumoroso come una caffettiera volante
.
Throttle in the ceiling is not ergonomic at all.
Neither is having no a/c in the cockpit, just those puny fans running. I'd have expected more from a passenger airframe of that size.

Captain with gold bracelet.
they touch every single button with no checklist.
They used one checklist
