Cool video. Cool list. I'm not a gamer, but a lot of my favorite Black Series figures of '23 were Gaming Greats. Darth Malek, Cal Kestis, Starkiller, Old Man Maul, Darth Malgus.
The issue you have with the Endor Rebel Trooper is the same issue I have with Black Krrsantan: he should not be a $33 deluxe figure. Nothing about the figure is deluxe. He's smaller than every other Wookiee figure, as you pointed out, and he only has one accessory. Hasbro basically overcharged for him because he's a unique body mold that they'll never be able to use again probably.
Thanks Ryan! I agree! The gaming greats line was hot this year. Hell we got a lot of dope releases in 23. This top ten was difficult for sure. I wish I got a hold of starkiller and cal but haven’t pulled the trigger yet or found them in the wild. Both look like great figures (especially cal). And Darth Malgus is just absolutely a hulking masterpiece. The old cinematics I watched on RUclips years ago I just thought he was a dope sith from legends and didn’t know much about him. As soon as I got the figure I had to start doing research on his character.
There is an ok amount of paint on him and some incredible sculpting but I do agree 33 bucks was a bit much. They could have thrown in some extra accessories like the TVC version. It would be cool if they gave used this mold to give us a Tarful or just a generic wookie soldier or something. I would love that and I bet many collectors would love extra wookies on their shelf. They would sell!!
There are some changes being made at hasbro lately so hopefully that will change things some. Patrick Schneiders leaving to go to nerf, Steve Evans is coming back. Not saying those two people are going to change everything but it’s clear hasbro is rotating positions a bit it seems. Maybe with proper marketing and design little mistakes like that will slowly trickle out.
Other than a few deluxe figures that shouldn’t be deluxe due to lack of extra accessories or slot of paint apps, or just overall character selection or design. A lot of people think and safe to speculate with some evidence that marketing is a big part of the reason the haslab rancor failed. But that’s a whole other convo lol.

I got the Ashoka Padawan this year for Christmas and I was blown away by the figure. I do agree with everything you said about Ashoa as a character and this figure. Especially her face is just perfect. I have her and the Mandalorian Season 2 Ashoka as my only BS figures (I mainly collect TVC Figures) and they are both great but the Padawan one is just perfect overall.
Only bad thing about it was that the package did not have any transparent plastic window so that you can see the figure without unpacking it completely (BUt I will always unpack BS figures in the future, because it is so much fun to make different poses with them.
I would also love to get my hands on the Rebels BS Ashoka and TCW Season 7 Ashoka but unfortunately it is Wal Mart exclusive and super hard and/or super expensive to get in germany 😢😢
I hear ya Ysoserious! Glad you agree on Ahsoka. And I feel the same about the PFP (plastic free packaging), I like to see the figure personally when I buy it so I totally get that. And as far as opening them the PFP has made me contemplate opening more of mine lol. I’m mostly an in-box collector but I have many loose now. There’s a couple I keep on card tho.
TVC has awesome cardbacks too. I only have 3 or 4 TVC. Just two generic battledroids, a Death Star ll Vader, and a scout trooper with speeder bike.
I’m sorry you haven’t been able to find a TCW S7 ahsoka. Have you tried to look on AliExpress? Just pay attention to the packaging and you can find a genuine hasbro one on there for a decent-ish price. I got mine about a year ago for 40 bucks. It took almost 3 a month to show up. But when it did it was legit.
I know stuff across the pond over there for y’all is a bit more expensive as well. From what I understand anyways.

Great list man! Absolutely love black krrsantan as well! He hasn't left my desk in awhile. Definitely would have to be my #1 figure for the year. I absolutely need to grab that Darth Malgus soon as well. Cheers man 😁

Hello, I find it very interesting and I am in agreement with you in most of the places, I would only change the order in the figures but we agree on the figures that should be and I would only add some as honorable mention.

Nice list,I want the Darth Maul but cant find him and the Rebel trooper is a rip off and I cant buy it.the phase 2 clone is great and a must have.

Thanks hyperdrive! I appreciate it. Ima sucker for a good Luke skywalker lol. I wish they could just get the head sculpt more accurate. The dagobah Luke sculpt is amazing imo. Wish more of them looked similar to that one.
@@hyperdrivecollections6460 the Luke and grogu build up pack I really dig the kinda ghee ninja martial arts outfit he’s got on that figure. And the grogu is a little bit of an upgrade as well. I like the slightly darker green they used and the hair has much more highlights and detail. And the arms don’t pop out like “the child” red & black box version. I can’t speak much for Malak because I don’t own that figure but he does look like a decent figure and iv seen him in a lot of peoples top tens for 2023.

Mando light cruiser luke’s outfit in not accurate to the scene, he’s supposed to have prequel like Jedi robes in all black, baggier pants and they got the belt right, not his rotj outfit, which is his black shirt and tight pants with gray tabards over and scuffed belt instead of silver
To be honest I never even noticed that man. But it is the closest one we had in the line intill the latest-ish 40th release with the replaceable folded and unfolded shirt with the white flap showing.
