I don't even collect Black Series, but I do like Star Wars and I just really enjoy your videos. They're very laidback and chill. I collect Marvel Legends, mostly MCU, and I agree with you that it's crazy how good Hasbro have gotten with their actor likenesses. I know everyone likes to crap on Hasbro but the faces on their movie figures are really rivalling the $90-100 import figures now. Keep up the great work!

Unpopular opinion in 2023
I'm a bit behind on some releases (I mainly rely on BBTS for my dollies as an overseas collector). I just got that Migs Mayfield yesterday. I'm super impressed by him. And to think I nearly passed on picking him up. He's fantastic!
Fun retrospective - R2 and Chopper (even though he was a re-release) were my favorites this year. Glad to hear you’re feeling better
I want Syril and Dedra from Andor.
The best ones for me this year were definitely Omega, Padawan Ahsoka and Ezra. Just so happy to have better versions of these characters, love the new Cal and Sabine too
Hope you’re feeling better now. Bought another Endor Rebel Commander recently. Have six now. Want two more. Just wish they would do an action packs with the two double back packs and a face plate pack. Say four different faces. Seen them 3d printed, but I haven’t got your customisation skills.

Such a tragedy about Shin, Baylan and Marrock's scale and paint issues.
I don't mind the brighter red on the HK droid but Hasbro barely painted it. Some washes and westhering, plus visor paint would really help. Your custom paint job looks phenomenal, but I'd keep it a little lighter and brighter.
I have to say the shoulder pads on a rotating ring is a good idea in theory. In practice not so much. I have figures where the pad has sheared away, because the plastic is so soft. I ended up glueing the pads to the upper arms.

Luthen Rael definitely a sleeper hit of this year, that likeness is on point. Starkiller, Malgus, Malak, Bad Batch S2 Hunter, Old Master Maul, 2-pack Cad Bane and Scorch are definitely among my favorites of this year.

I would add Wicket, unless he was late 2022.
Wicket was one of my favourite figures of the year, glad they finally got around to making him as we definitely need more Ewoks in the line!
That Luke figure is great! Might have to pick that one up this holiday season!
I just hate the fact that we'll probably have to wait quite a while for a new Baylan figure (if Hasbro makes it, that is). As I commented in another of your videos, that figure is beyond saving. Not even an Archive re-release could fix its flaws. He needs a brand-new mold with the correct height, an orange lightsaber blade color, and maybe a fabric cape and "skirt" for better poseability.
Shin Hati is also very bland and underwhelming. Wrong blade color, lousy paintjob and sculpt, and no cape. I hope Hasbro will eventually release a 2-pack with new, improved versions of them.
Bumping his height up with Reva thighs made a massive difference but I agree I wish the sculpt was better

Yep Baylan needs bulk as well as a height boost. Also why didn't they give them.orange blades for the sabres?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't completely in love with the Sabine figure's face sculpt. It's good, better than Hera's blank slime colored face but it's missing something.
Love the new clones and that they finally realized people were painting the heads under them anyway!
I'm surprised how good figures have gotten.
I haven't collected since I was a kid; my aunt gave a box full to the brim of old school kenners and I added to the collection with all the 2000's era and prequel stuff. I had to leave them all behind when I moved with my folks to Australia.
Been looking at figures lately; all the old stuff I had looks worse than I remember but this new stuff looks great.
I might start buying again.
I’m not a TBS collector, but I couldn’t pass on R2-D2. Just an all-around wonderful release. Having it next to Chopper is just great!
The new R5-D4 is also great with those two
Started collecting when 5 below sold sequel figures for $5. Then Walgreens had them for $10. Local stores have stopped selling them. BAM had Mando black series for a while. $18
Malak is one of my favorite figures period. The head sculpt is amazing especially. I wish we got more possibility in the arms for 2 handed lightsaber poses and/or some life drain effects (ik that’s more of a marvel legends thing but doesn’t hurt to ask) but other than that basically perfect imo
Bix is a solid figure
It’s a dead ringer, I think. I agree with Luke that Dedra should have taken the slot, but Bix is a home run regardless.
My favorite must be cal or Andor such great possibility just can’t stop fidgeting with them when there on my desk
I haven’t collected a whole this year so I’ll just give the 3 figs I enjoyed. 1. rotj Luke 2. Marrok 3. Appo. Also, glad ur feelin better 👌
Every single figure you highlighted in the “best” section of this video is an absolute banger, and while definitely disappointing, I still enjoy Baylan, Shin, and Marrok for what they are, and luckily I haven’t had many issues with the MagnaGuard, so I love it. The line is in a fantastic place right now! Really hope we do get figures of Dedra and Syril tho, maybe for Andor S2!
Top three best is Malak, Malgus, and Starkiller. Loving the Legends love! Worst is probably the aforementioned three Ahsoka figures, but like I said, I’m good with them for what they are.

Glad you're feeling better got worried about you. Quick video idea. Can you do a video about your ah figuarts and mafex? I supplement sh and mafex when they do a great job with a character in my 6 inch figure collection.
Darth Malak deluxe is dope just got him and he might be my black series of the year
Ha! Marrok is one of my top 10 of the year. I totally agree that the paint is off but that's just so low on my priority for figures. His posability is just so buttery smooth and his design looks so dynamic. I got two! And I'll get more if he ever goes on sale. He's a trooper in my head canon haha
Marrok kinda makes me think of the old Shadow Troopers from Dark Forces 2. You might've convinced me to pick him up now!

I love TBS figures, been trying to collect lots of Legends ones too (i love that they even make them). I have the Sabine and she's very nice, though I also have a Pre Vizla whose sculpt I like but he has a lot of difficulty standing up by himself (same with Endor Leia, its hard to pose her with my Han without a stand)

You forgot to mention the new clone torso.
I fixed my Marrok with Vallejo Oily Steel and 2 washes of Vallejo Black Wash. Then hit the rust spots with the Tamiya Weathering Kit. Looks so much better! Matches the Hot Toys paint now.
Malgus and black K were the best drops IMO. Love both of those.

I’ve really scaled back on collecting black series, but I just picked up Krrsantan recently and find him to be a great one. He’s definitely one of those that I pick up and mess around with. Along with Ned-B

I really enjoy the longer formatted videos and I hope you continue to produce in this way. I think this year has been a big one in terms of Hasbro’s quality and getting their stuff together. Every figure is improving and I’m loving it. Awesome content, Luke! ❤

Great list. I don't really collect them, but my goal was to make 2 dioramas for each canon Movie and Show and when there is, games or comics too (Jedi Survivor, Aphra). Each diorama has two figures. The only exception was the whole Bad Batch, Clone Wars and Rogue One Crew. Each diorama was one square in my bookshelfe with printed background and decoration for the floor and sides (snow, grass, stones, rocks, trees...). It's fun. I ordered figures for Baylan Skoll VS Ahsoka and Sabine VS Shin Hati. But they will be released in February, where I live. I hope there are plans for Ahsoka in white clothes and Ezra with beard. The figures really look better when displayed properly. They look good for the money.
There are people in the comments, saying, they are not worth the money, but what alternatives are there in this price range? Most of them cost 15-50 Dollars. Diamond Select, Hot Toys or Iron Studio are 200+ for one figure. Hot Toys often 300-500. Sure they are way better, but they price and look of the Black Series are great for the price

You forgot to put the clone commandos onto the bad list. Complete lack of outlines on all the delta squad and the blank commando really kills the detail
LandspeederLuke @9:53 your R2-D2 doesn’t have the characteristic “molding dent/crack” that was on the earliest R2’s. I swear I had seen it in your earlier review - did you get a new R2 here or am I just not seeing the crack/dent (it’s on his mid left side of his dome , right above the blue square. Just curious if they finally corrected it as I’ll definitely need to order a new R2! :-) Which is fine as I finally finished customizing mine (the Periscope is now integrated into his dome instead of a separate tool, which took a lot more work than I first thought!). Added: arg, I think I can just see the dent @10:24, but so brief I can’t be sure!
Hey Luke odd question about Shin, would you be able to see if a thigh swap with the book of boba Fett Luke from the deluxe set would work on her to make her shorter but a tad bit taller than the Koska thighs?

The Bix Caleen figure does look good. I've never minded getting background characters as Star Wars figures. If they're interesting and well done. It doesn't matter to me if they have minimal screen time.
I think the malgus is the best one I think it might just be the best black series there is
I liked my Hunter mercenary armor, also Darth maul clone wars. Haven't picked up old master maul yet but plan to. Where I live stores seem limited on what I can pick up which is a bummer. I have never seen the Cad Bane double pack in store otherwise I would have definitely picked that up.

Jedi Luke is a great figure, I'm glad I finally have him. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for the new R2-D2 figure, R5-D4, and the R4 coming out next year. Maul is another great figure 👍.
I agree with your worst list for the same reasons. The scaling looks terrible in my opinion. I hope Hasbro will release better figures even if we have to wait for a while.
