@gutter 529 I think it's the perfect "tarantino" movie. Something like Django or Pulp are more widely appealing. Even if a bit "off" from normal big name movies, they still are a bit faster paced and suspenseful and straightforwards. Easy enough for an average popcorn muncher who doesn't care about QT to follow and enjoy. But among my few film nerd friends who love Tarantino, H8 is our favorite. Basterds comes close.
TBH if I were ever stranded in a horrid blizzard somewhere, I think I'd love staying in that log cabin (haberdashery)! Man, that place looks pretty damn cosy, especially with that warm fireplace, wool blankets, comfy leather recliners and hot coffee. Wouldn't mind living back in the late 1800s! :D
I write this while Once Upon a time in Hollywood is about to premiere. Is crazy to think how fun this tráiler looks, and how dark The hatefull eight was. I dunno what to expect from Tarantino now.
A friend and I saw it in theaters, maybe the night it came out, who knows? Once Upon a time in Hollywood is about 2 hours of some guys down on their luck scrounging about in Hollywood during the summer of 1969. And then...oh dear god the ending. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, so I'll just say that it was set in the summer of 69 for a very specific reason.
There are two kinds of alcoholics: 1. One who takes a whiskey shot under a second, roll their eyes and tongue & ask the bartender for another one. 2. One who takes a single fine-whiskey shot, drag it for an hour or maybe even more, sipping a single drop at a time but cherish the slow-moving of nectar down their throat while carefully analyzing the bar where they are in currently for each and every insignificant activity going on. This film is made for the second category. It was such a slow-placed movie. But every second was so worth it. Incredible movie. Highly recommended !!!
+Ryan O Right, right, I feel ya on that... but how much COOLER would it be if every movie didn't have to take place in a larger cinematic universe, and just stood on their own as a quality flick devoid of any connections or similarities outside of a subtle Easter egg? Like... mind blown, ya know?
+What A Lovely Day Yes, support the cops no matter what... even the ones who commit crimes www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2015/11/jeremy-mardis-police-shooting/414789/ and boycott the movie to show us your "true colors". Respect the honest cops, and the celebs who call out the bad ones.
+What A Lovely Day His true colors? You mean holding police responsible? Not being ok with over 2000 us citizens killed by police in 2014 alone? How dare he talk out against corruption. Why couldn't he just bend over for them like the rest of us? Maybe I should boycott this too. Absolutely ridiculous that he wouldn't be ok with police brutality.
+What A Lovely Day Actually, there is a lot of outrage. And there is a lot of effort being made to stop it. There's one big difference. The "black on black" violence is a crime committed by criminals. However, the police are supposed to uphold the law, not violate it with impunity. Yes, there are times when cops have to use lethal force in the defense of their own lives or innocent people, but there are too many cases where they rush to kill black people and then get protected by the police organizations. Nobody asked you to cry. But justice is supposed to be even handed, and cops are to be held to a higher standard in return for their ability to use lethal force.
I finally watched it yesterday, it's a good film, with those elements that usually make a good film of this genre and Samuel L. Jackson simply rocks kicking butts so hard that their asses go flying across the set like rockets. However, perhaps this film is a little underrated as I don't hear much about it. I think it deserves more recognition The only thing I don't like about it is this ultra-wide ratio (2.76) which I consider exaggerated. I prefer the traditional 2.39 Cinema Scope, which I think is enough for an “epic” look, but this is the director's original vision and I respect it. It's worth watching this film for anyone who likes this genre. 👉Tarantino has some good movies and this is definitely one of them.
That was me it didn’t hype me up as much as django but after watching the extended edition it moved up to one of my favorite films even topped django , I like it so much he kept it on one room and interesting
So.... what's the movie about?? It looked like some badass guests are staying at an inn for the winter where crappy stuff goes down 'cuz there are some bad guys after one of them (most likely the woman). Is that about right?
+Marshanah T. It's like "The Thing" crossed with "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" crossed with every Tarantino badass character that's appeared in one of his previous films put together in one place. That's this movie.
+JustAnotherKevin Ah, that's interesting. I never thought of that. When I saw the movie poster for this, my thoughts were just that it's probably another bounty hunter movie. I didn't think about it being a sequel to Django.... But if it was, wouldn't they have put it in the title? I mean, it would be cool if Samuel was playing an older Django, but I think this may just be a spin-off. Like, this is in the same world/time period as Django, but it's a different storyline.
Marshanah T. Yeah I looked into it and it was a different character. I was kinda disappointed because that would've awesome if it was revealed in the movie that it was Django and that would be like a twist in the movie or something.
+JustAnotherKevin QT said that after Django Unchained was released he decided to write a novel about him. But about 20% through he realised that this story would be better if there were no character we'd knew. He wanted everyone to be questionable - so he ditched Django and replaced him with Marquis Warren. So yeah, you're right - initially bounty hunter was supposed to be Django, but now he isn't.
Yeah that looks like it will be his 8th best movie. Looks like a dud to me. Don't give me this crap about how trailers are supposed to tease and not give away too much. I've seen enough. Let me save you the suspense. The girl will be the lone survivor. A bunch of deaths and she lives. End of story.
+cev7788 You really think so? How can you tell?? I mean, yeah, Tarantino's known for having strong female characters in his movies, but what's the giveaway in the trailer?
+Marshanah T. It's just obvious man. The trailer focuses on all the male characters and leads you to believe they will all duke it out over their issues and greed over the girl. She's barely shown because they want you to feel her role is secondary but she will be the most vicious of them all and slowly manipulate her way to freedom. She will be the only survivor.
cev7788 Hmmm.... I guess it is obvious when you put it that way. Sounds like she's one badass character, tho. I still wanna see this, even knowing what the movie's outcome will be like. Plus, it's a Quentin Tarantino movie; I'm always down to watch one of his.
+Marshanah T. Lol. It's just a guess man!! Obviously I am not positive the story will be this I am just guessing. I will always watch his movies no doubt.
+cev7788 No dude I read the leaked script, the girl does not survive and the ending is mind blowing. The girl is a foxy character though. In fact all of them are. But Tarantino has changed that ending,so i guess the new ending will be even better.
The most underrated of Tarantino’s if you ask me.
This and Jackie Brown both are underrated.
Great film 👍

How cool would it be it if Reservoir, Pulp, Inglorious, Django, Jackie, Kill Bill and Hateful all took place in one Tarantino cinematic universe.
