You are a mad genius. Watching your videos gives me new ways to look at the processes of making everything. So, thank you for teaching me to stretch my imagination. I'm 51 and this will be a new career for me.
I have seen these before but never realized the purpose of them being concave, did a quick Google and found that it's to keep the meat and their juices in contact with each other, you learn something new every day, great job as always.
Jimmy you are so clever.....that my friends is called experience! These lessons are usually learned through years of trial and error...thanks Jimmy for sharing yours!😎
I once made a simple little ashtray for a friend of mine, and to carving the centre I used an angle grinder with a multi purpose disk, but it's nowhere near close the inventive you used to make this cutboard. This is why YOU ARE THE KING! And this is why I always watch all of your works! Chapeau!!
I’m sure there will be plenty negative comments about how this was dangerous or it will never work or ... but I for one love the ingenuity of the process and the final outcome. Keep inspiring us, sir!
@@romandybala I think it is all in how you say it. I find it usually to be best to voice a concern you have in the form of a question so the poster can answer and address your concern that way.
I have the same exact planer in my lineup and it sits alongside several festool tools and a huge CNC. That delta 22-250 just doesn't quit. And I bought mine second hand off of a retired cabinet maker who used it for years. I've only ever replaced the blades. and done regular cleaning and maintenance.
Always making ur own path. Always love watching and learning from your videos. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work Jimmy Diresta. Keep making God Bless
Very time I watch one of your videos you never seem to amaze me. Enjoy seeing how you tackle a problem and come up with a simple solution. Major props.
Loved how it keeps the cut food together & the spalting adds to the eye candy so well, just beautiful especially as it was made with such a simple jig fashioned on the geometry of a circle. Wondered if it could be set up to make decorative coving for around mantles or similar. Thanks for sharing!
I don't care about a cutting board but I know if I watch Jimmy's videos I will learn a number of building techniques that I can use the next time I'm in my shop
Cool cutting board, you don't have to wait 20 years for the "dish" to occur naturally from thousands of hours of cutting!, Dip those "Keep All Ten" push sticks in Tool handle dip for a no slip grip and they'll look like they have gloves on!! great low tech video, most anyone can use a CNC but to create the tools and make it work takes a special talent, your the man 👍
Sunday funday with yet another awesome jimmy video!!! I like the thought process and how you "engineered" on the fly to achive the concave part of the cutting board. Great job as always! Smart fella...
It has given me some great ideas and as always it has Educated and Entertained me .. Stay well Taylor , Willie , your crew and of course you my brother.
I watched the IG story before this video. Was interesting to hear how the edge of the knife matched the angle of the pocket in the board. Your videos always inspire!
Jimmy, I was just listening to your podcast, I really don't think you have to explain yourself in relation to the excess epoxy video, you have to be up there with the best for reusing things. Pay no attention to the negative stuff, thanks for all the brilliant videos
I find it ironic that a 'food safe finish' says: "Harmful or fatal if swallowed." lol :-) (yes, I realize it IS food safe after it is totally dried) Nice cutting board!
Every video I see you use that planar it's on the floor, it's charming but it has me scratching my head while you haven't made some sort of DiResta stand for it.
Well, I think Izzy Swan has a different approach which seems faster once you've built the whole jig, and this one seems better for a one off. That being said, what intrigues me the most if the whole anvil stand and that "foot-brake" system. I don't remember seeing that before, but I may have missed it or maybe my memory is in its decline. Anyway, it's a really, really cool way to move the whole thing around.
nice! now i want to see a convex one. ;)
And a concave knife?
And cut jelly/jello on it !!
Well you would just need to swap the board and the grinder, static grinder and moving board.
Worst cutting board ever lol
🤔🤔🤔 I can do that 🤘🏻
You are a mad genius. Watching your videos gives me new ways to look at the processes of making everything. So, thank you for teaching me to stretch my imagination. I'm 51 and this will be a new career for me.
Yup. Using the anvil as a base for spinning wood working was a stroke of either genious, or madness. But it worked.

In the 70s that would have just been a huge ashtray. ❤️
Did Jimmy just make a homemade lathe to make a cutting board? Yes he did. Your imagination, ingenuity and skill are all off the charts!

Thanks for slowing down the vid on the big bandsaw start up and wind down,
I love hearing that beast purr !

Definitely!!!!!!!
Way too safe! Should have just hung the grinder on its cord from above. ;)
Ok, so how do you make a constructive comment without it appearing to be negative?
@@romandybala I think it is all in how you say it. I find it usually to be best to voice a concern you have in the form of a question so the poster can answer and address your concern that way.
The way you think of and make tools yourself to achieve the desired result is just ingenious!
The only maker on the planet to have made a canoe before a cutting board. #TheGodfather

Adding to your comment and like counter!! 😂😎
@@jimmydiresta love and respect as always brother. I really dig cutting boards..but I don't do much large food prep or cutting.
I'm pretty sure he's made a few cutting boards in his time, maybe not for RUclips...
@@edwardhunts on IG he said it was his first
Per usual, the method is unorthodox and the result awesome. Thanks.
The DIRESTA CNC. “Thank you.” You guys are great!
Inspirational video on how to think outside of the box! Very slick solution. Thanks for sharing!
When daddy makes, he makes right. F-ing loved seeing the process and looking over the shoulder of a great craftsman - good on ya!
My head exploded (in a good way) with the angle grinder jig. Always inspiring...Thank You!!
What a great idea Jimmy. So much better than a boring lathe video. Loved it brother.
A new iconic Diresta design! Bravo!!
I miss these kinds of videos. Awesome.
One of the few uses for poplar...Very nice work Jimmy.
I love that jimmy has every tool known to man, in several awesome shops, but is still using a little lunchbox planer sitting on the floor. 🤣
Yeah we need a go fund me to get him a new planner with a dust collector set up

Yeah but you don’t run it on the floor with no dust collector. That’s barbaric

I like how you and Aaron decided that the danger level was a little low so you added the drill to kick things up into Izzy Swan level territory. 🤟🏻👍🏻
Thank You for using the suitcase planer. This made me feel right at home!
This was the first project in my highschool intro to carpentry class, video brought back good memories with old buds
I love this idea. Can’t wait for you to get a giant planer. 😅🧎
We LOVE Jimmy because where there is a will there is a way. :-)
I like the Izzy style jig with the grinder. Coin roll at the end was a nice touch 👌

Coin roll for the win 👍
Wow! Really didn't expect that ending!!
Awesome idea! It reminds me of the Inuit Ulu curved cutting bowl/rocker knife system they use.

So cool!! A friend of mine did something similar, only he used a router hanging from the ceiling by a long rope.
Lathing without a lathe ... that's seriously next level.
Very nice I particularly like the coin at the end . Very neat
The sketchiest lathe I've seen since MikeCthulhu. Love it!
Simply elegant, as usual.

Very cool, Jimmy. I would have liked the spalted bits on the ends, but that's just my taste.
