In this video, Renos demonstrates how to shorten blinds. He shows us a really short window that needs a vinyl blind cut to fit. Because the window is only a third of the height of a standard window, and off-the-shelf blind has to be modified and shortened to fit.
Renos includes a list of necessary tools needed to shorten a blind, as well as a step by step tutorial on how to shorten the vinyl blind.
Watch this one all the way through first to makes sure that you understand the blind shorten techniques used. Then got back through it once you've got your tools, and are ready to shorten your own window blind.

Gad, I wish you were my next door neighbor. This has been my project for two days now, and it has driven me to drink. Literally. In addition, the two vertical strings that make up the ladder at the very top-left have little metal keepers that have come unattached, and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to put them back in their proper places. At 75 I can't see very well anymore which doesn't help a bit. But that's another story. Best video on the subject, not just on RUclips, but on the internet. It's given me hope, and that's a big deal.

here's a tip: take a lighter and CAREFULLY & quickly burn the end of the frayed string, to melt the tip of it, you can mold it with your finger be careful its hot.. its easier to thread through the hole that way.

A small blind length, so knotting the ladder strings together before stuffing is not important. However, my blinds were long and therefore hevy- so I did the ladder string knot thing

I would have to try that before I could say yes or no, and it would really probably depend on how the bottom portion of the blind is sealed. That sounds like a stressful project.

May I suggest that if you use tape, use a longer piece and run the long axis of the tape over the length of the string- making a two inch stiffly taped length that is much easier to thread- less fumbling
Am I missing something. Just wondering why you just don't leave a few rungs and cut the bottom right off to start with.

They are $3.99 near me, so when they're dirty I just consider them disposable. I buy a new one and pop it in.
