tgoh1 It's really not the same everywhere. I have been to several matches at NC State and Wake Forrest (who are number 1) and their fans are really respectful. They definitely have the let's go chants after points but these guys were talking during the points and saying rude things. UCLA seems to be the worst from what I've seen on these videos. Must be something about these preppy western schools.
I was in a close match in singles and the crowd was like this, I didn’t know his name before the match but I definitely knew it after, high school tennis btw. I lost 7-5.
Briste that’s not the team. It’s just students. They’re probably that one group of guys that goes to every sports event the university has, as such, they have no idea about tennis and standard etiquette that comes with the sport.
I learned a lot from this match. Really cool to see the mental adjustments from the players. Filip starts off playing way too aggressive. Spacing and placement. Tones it back. Mike is playing defensive, works against the extreme aggression but not the higher percentage play. Starts working in more aggressive shots. I think the difference maker was Filip had a hard time with his balance while moving foreward on his forehands. He lost quite a few points while striking from an advantage. I'm sure he realized that, he did it a lot less towards the end. Would be cool to see a rematch.
I put the video on mute on the second minute, the players played really good points, but the only thing I can say is that, players are so tense and points ended far prematurely.. which can be easily fixed, thanks for quality video!
To all the people hating on the crowd, did you never play amateur tennis in high school? This is par for the course, these players have undoubtedly had years and years of experience dealing with obnoxious crowds.
i don't think there's much of an equivalent to this outside of US school/college tennis, so no this will be the first time for most non-american viewers
Amazing to think that if this is the #3 singles match, how good the #1 and #2 matches were. Also cheered against the Stanford guy because of the obnoxious crowd.
If you guys have a problem with the cheering, you clearly haven't played high school tennis in California. This is a must have energy with each and every team, I would have never thought it would have been like this on a Stanford team tho haha
He played dangerously and made a ton of unforced errors. Aiming for the lines, changing direction when it was dangerous to, etc. I think he beat himself.
Only watched the excellent tiebreak. Great tennis, guys. I noticed in the tiebreak that Filip was hanging too much in his backhand corner, leaving too much space on his forhand side. Michael used that in his advantage. He lost at least 2 points with that. Besides that you both should have won.
Two good players, good game. Heated collegiate tennis. "Mickey's" fans were videotaping so we only heard them, other guy's players were probably just the same. Let's not be so biased.
ITS VERY UNFORTUNATE that the first thing that came to my mind after watching this wonderful match was that I would not want to be friends with those Mike's obnoxious friends...
Dude, I swear to God, if my opponent shouts “lEtS gOoO” like that every fucking time he wins a point, I am forfeiting the match while breaking a racquet.
Everyone is acting like cheering for your own teammate is a crime. Cheering loudly and obnoxiously like that is very normal in college and high school tennis. That was a extremely intense match and they were fighting to clutch the W for their team. Good job Mikey.
When the Stanford guy is serving from the Deuce side, he seems to serve a fault every time his body crosses the center mark into the ad court prior to contact. An umpire in a semifinals game in ITF called me out on it. Interesting that in US college tennis it's not called.
Interesting match. Mike, you are a good player, sure, but you know what? It would be better if next time your friends are not trying to influence the game in this way. Completely unfair, really. Next time you should win without such help. Winning in this way probably doesn’t feel that great. It is up to you to tell your friends to calm down.
It’s not a bad crowd if someone like Roger Federer scores but as soon as the crowd tries to give support to someone less known and you can hear the words of the crowd, no one likes it. In the Lavar Cup, there are so many celebrations between big points and even the smallest points but you can’t make out what they are saying and they aren’t famous and known that much. Have you ever heard of the French Open which is known for its loud crowd. This crowd in this video was made of about 5% of what the French Open is.
I think the Stanford guy is named Mikey. idk tho
Pretty sure his name is “big guy”
really how did you find that out?
He's full name is Mikey Hecanthang.
legend has it they changed the name on his birth certificate to mikey on the spot
His name is big mike lmao
i was rooting against Mikey just because his friends were so obnoxious.
I think everyone was
Closet Grasshopper moreover they can‘t hit a Ball properly
I was rooting for him because his friends were giving him support. Until you play college tennis u don’t get it
BRUH I FEEL THAT
same here, and I'm a lefty
They sound like the seagulls from finding Nemo
Lmaooooo that’s the best comparison
instead of "mine, mine mine" its "Let's go big guy"
that dude who kept saying 'big guy' was so abnoxious
*obnoxious
"Come on"! "Let's go"! "It's all you"! "You got this"! "Yeah baby". Stanford's finest!
tgoh1 It's really not the same everywhere. I have been to several matches at NC State and Wake Forrest (who are number 1) and their fans are really respectful. @@joshcarter260 that was Stanford's crowd you dick
Yes, I can not watch this video. It's annoying.
dude this is all over college tennis not just Stanford
Donny brook whic one is Stanford
Kudos to Filip, he had a lot of class to circle around two times in order to get the handshake from Mike the victor.
I would love these guys to comemtate atp matches :p
This feels like watching Cobra Kai play tennis.
I couldn’t agree more
Get him a body bag!
AAHHHHHHH hahahahaahha
25:13 "my grandmother could have hit that one"... stay classy Stanford.
25:11
@@adamcang4683 appreciate that
Ugh I hate mikey’s friends lmao
Stanford, future date rapers, and politicians of America.
Worst crowd ever
No doubt. The constant "he can't hang" comments were absurd. He had multiple match points... clearly he can "hang" morons. LoL.
The constant "Woo!"
Ikr 😤😤
@Jensen HARGREAVES haha
If im playing and those guys are screaming like that, after the match im throwing hands. No doubt about it
0m3g4s straight up. Fuck those guys
@@joshcarter260 yessir I would told them, "FUCK OFF DIPSHITS!!!!!!!!!"
I’ve done it.... you can bet these little wieners would be wetting Their pants against anyone who tells knows how to fight.
I was in a close match in singles and the crowd was like this, I didn’t know his name before the match but I definitely knew it after, high school tennis btw. I lost 7-5.
If you still have energy
The Stanford team is ridiculous cheering on unforced errors
Briste that’s not the team. It’s just students. They’re probably that one group of guys that goes to every sports event the university has, as such, they have no idea about tennis and standard etiquette that comes with the sport.
they are like when i play iolani at home in hawaii the parents, i fucking hate them
its cuz they are a bunch of douchbag tools... guess the baseball team was full, so they had to play tennis... fuckin jagoffs.
6:36
JackSockIsTheBest ayyy you live in Hawaii too? Nice.
Big guy needs some new friends
6:36 wtf he literally faulted and the stanford bench is acting like *mikey* just won the superbowl
filip's forehand is so clean
That’s an insult to Edmund
Yeah I like it
What a tiebreak!! And good for the umpire for making the right calls
i love that I wasn't the only person annoyed with mikes fans LOL
all i hear is "It's all you mike, it's all you big guy" lol
I was looking at the Stanford yearbook today and the guy’s name really is Mikey BigGuy.
IT'S YOU MIKE LETS GO MIKE
Filip's game style reminds me a lot of Kyle Edmund
Annoying teammates make me not want to play in college
Teammates were on the court, that's just drunk/high students that go annoy everyone at sporting events.
Just play for the tennis. I think that's the best you could do...
Mad Myers it actually strengthens you’re mental game/focus
Youruk_Hunt lmao shut up asshole
Then filip gets a pep from Novak Djokovic
I think his name is mike
"He can't hang Mike!". They're tied in a tiebreaker. That's the very definition of hanging.
thanks for the quality upload! love your vids
Thanks.
LET"S GO FILIP! IT"S ALL YOU BIG GUY >_
Poor Mikey, all he wanted to do was play
I think i heard somewhere in the video the Stanford player is named Mike.
Excellent video quality! Cali's strings/racket is bright!
I learned a lot from this match. Really cool to see the mental adjustments from the players. Filip starts off playing way too aggressive. Spacing and placement. Tones it back. Nove observation. These adjustments can be so subtle at times
The definition of heartbreak...
One of the best college tennis match in you tube I’ve seen so far. Both players are beast at the tennis court
teammates make me not want to go to stanford even if i got in.
Let’s be honest, you don’t need to worry about that.
You're suppose to cheer when they actually make good shots, not when the opponent makes an unforced error xd
They're so scared of coming in to the net
25:10 "My grandma can hit that" lmao
That shot at 9:00 was amazing
I put the video on mute on the second minute, the players played really good points, but the only thing I can say is that, players are so tense and points ended far prematurely.. which can be easily fixed, thanks for quality video!
When they said "we gotta be louder"💀☠️
Timestamp?

i can’t watch this omg
let’s go mikey cmon big guy
I really want these guys to show up to my next USTA 4.0 men's 40+ tournament or league play match. Would make my life.
Genender's gameplan in tiebreak was obviously to hook on every far sideline call. That line is still in 21:04
It's good the call was changed
yea, no cool at all. no hesitation to call the lines out.
Filip is a great player. I felt for him.
Guy sounds like lucio from overwatch
The Cal guy went for too much at the wrong time. Fitting it end with an error.
Love to watch tennis matches I miss to play big tournaments too.. hope we can connect
Amazing to think that if this is the #3 singles match, how good the #1 and #2 matches were. Also cheered against the Stanford guy because of the obnoxious crowd.
I would’ve jumped into the stands if I were the cal guy
Mike's friends made him look bad, they were being a bit rude almost to the opponent. Idk that's just how I felt.
nuisance of a crowd
Swede would have won easily if he had aimed for 2 feet inside the sidelines instead of on the line...
Great match, thanks for the upload
That was a high quality and enjoyable match for college tennis players, annoying noise from the ppl who recorded it was a small price to pay
If you guys have a problem with the cheering, you clearly haven't played high school tennis in California. This is a must have energy with each and every team, I would have never thought it would have been like this on a Stanford team tho haha
Bergevi played better
He played dangerously and made a ton of unforced errors. Aiming for the lines, changing direction when it was dangerous to, etc. I think he beat himself.
Every time that dude in the crowd screams "woo" a child dies in Africa
Good match. Some clutch backhands by Stanford in the 3rd set tie breaker.
Great, entertaining match. Much appreciate it!! 👍👍
@0.30 That was naaasty! 😂
wow very good set.. the guys cheering were annoying though
Stanford teaches a class, Cheering Skills 101?
Great hitting from both 👍🎾is this a D2 or D3

Mikey's supporters sound like they're wearing MAGA caps.
Yeah, go figured lol. I wouldn't be surprise if they're the type to wear MAGA caps....
wow; close match; i'd be exhausted after one game!
ITS VERY UNFORTUNATE that the first thing that came to my mind after watching this wonderful match was that I would not want to be friends with those Mike's obnoxious friends...
I have never rooted for anything out of the state of California more than i have here
Dude, I swear to God, if my opponent shouts “lEtS gOoO” like that every fucking time he wins a point, I am forfeiting the match while breaking a racquet.
- Wooooo
- what did you say?
- Wooooo
- and...why did you say that?
- ....Wooooo!

dare to change, dare to attack, Michael deserves more respect!
but the real question is did Geneder take gender studies as his uni program? :)
who would of ever thought of a situation where the guy wearing "california" on his back would be the humble one
I guess Filip is now playing on the tour
3:16 That must be so distracting for Mikey when they said OOOOOOOOOOOO
I'm starting to think this is all Mikey
What a terrible call at 18:14
Was in
Jacob S-H that’s in by a fucking mile.
What did they say? I didn’t understand
So annoying omg “my grandma coulda hit that one”
All I hear is Let's go MIKE!!!
What a fight !
Everyone complaining about mike’s friends cheering him on but when people cheer Roger Federer on, no one complains.
Hey, how did you edit he raw video, did you do it manually or use any software?
Everyone is acting like cheering for your own teammate is a crime. Cheering loudly and obnoxiously like that is very normal in college and high school tennis. That was a extremely intense match and they were fighting to clutch the W for their team. Good job Mikey.
Every point- whew! Let’s go Mikey let’s go! Let’s go Mikey!
"Mikey," that's one UGLY pair of shoes. I wouldn't wear those to a dog fight. Nobody's gonna accuse you of being a fashion plate.
let's go mike both of you played good
When the audience just got back from a baseball game and they see a tennis match going on
awsome hitting..hey what type of string is mike using??!
0:26 why did he just not hit it to the right
When the Stanford guy is serving from the Deuce side, he seems to serve a fault every time his body crosses the center mark into the ad court prior to contact. An umpire in a semifinals game in ITF called me out on it. Interesting that in US college tennis it's not called.
The shot calls by the Stanford guy at 18:13 and 20:39 were a terrible calls.
i can’t be the only one who actually loves how his friends hype him up!!
Sounds like Ross from Friends...
kind of poor court mangement to have the screen turned on during play
Interesting match.

amen - I feel like calling the coach at Stanford, referencing this vid, and asking him if he thinks this is ok.
It’s not the team is drunk frat boys! Also mike ain’t readin this shit he didn’t post it
would love to see the drunk guy who kept screaming mikey play just so I could obnoxiously scream the entire time against him.
Amazing set 😎😎😎
