100 years from now, people won't know or care who had the most tour wins or grand slams on which surface, etc., But they will always come on RUclips to watch videos of Roger before they play a local club match (like I do) just to soak in this form of art. Roger is a walking, talking clinic of how beautiful this game can be played. Federer is Tennis Perfection.
I think you are right Rick!! Wish I had more footage of him personally but there is a lot around and I will always want to see it! His game is especially beautiful!
If tennis continues to be played 100 years from now and people are still watching grand slams, they will always care and know who had the most tour wins and grand slams.
His records will be broken, but simply no one can play like him..... He must practiced a billion strokes to get to this level of graceful, fluid, balletic, effortless power. You could watch this all day and not get bored.... Watching him practice with Stefan Edberg ..... no words
His backhand sucks. that's the fact. it really showed later in his career. He did a lot of amazing flicks and digs with his backhand but also a ton of simple unforced errors that people seem to overlook. The modern game just doesnt favor single handed backhand. Just look at top 200 players and count how many has one handed back hand.
@@claus1225Are you serious? While many former great tennis legends admit that Roger possesses the best one-handed backhand of all time, you state it sucks. Amazing, dude. Where do you come from?
Watching Roger practice highlights the difference between him and Rafa. Roger makes you believe in the fantasy that perfect tennis is obtainable by the rec player. Rafa does the opposite. He's the reality check in that he makes tennis look like it's a completely exhausting sport that you shouldn't even bother trying to play.
I’m a Rafa fan but like most Rafa fans we admire Roger! It looks so effortless. Rafa and Novak have to work harder to compete with this overflowing raw talent.
Well said. A lot of players like me started playing because of inspiration from Fed. A feeling that playing like that is possible. Playing like Rafa is impossible even in my dreams. The greatest of players with absolute contrast of styles.
I play with exactly the same racquet as him; have emulated his style. My coaches say ‘you can’t teach a “style”’. ‘Everyone should learn their own’; I disagree and have worked for years to make almost every move like him. And have enjoyed some (little) success in doing so. It is an ongoing journey.
@udayanbhanot2509 Your coach is somewhat right thought...you can learn tennis by watching Federer as a paradigm along the way you make progress...but eventually if you want to bring out your full potential as a tennis player you will need to find your own style which you naturally play your best...just like Federer's tennis style is unique to himself, any tennis enthusiastics is bound to discover who he/she really is on court, not just copying or mimicking other players' technique/movement
I have never seen him running, sliding, falling, struggling to reach the ball, barely missing the ball, shouting, screaming, annoying nor annoyed, hurting or getting hurt, breaking raquets. I simply see him TENNISING
Just because you haven't seen him shouting, screaming, or annoyed, does not mean he hasn't experienced all of the above.. there are a few videos of him getting angry, but i do agree that they are few compared to most of his other videos.
@@ZOMBIELANDakaUSA dude..struggling shouldnt be evident in his level of tennis. By the way falling can get u injuries. I meant his level headed ness is amazing when playing so cooly. U decide if u r a dude or a DJoker.
its amazing to me how he split steps on every single time, he times the split step to finish landing when his opponent hits the ball and there is a pop, his timing and footwork is impressive
Of course, the strokes released from Federer's relaxed posture are beautiful. However, this is because the hit partner returns it accurately to the place where Federer can hit without changing his stance.
His grip change is so minimal. It's amazing that he can play at world class level without an extreme grip. Classic! Not sure we will see any next gen playing this style any more....
Watch him dance and bounce between hits. Watch him bounce and dance. He never gets tired of a tennis ball coming at him. When he wakes up in the morning he makes a fresh pot of tennis balls. "More tennis" says Roger F!
Beating his records might be possible, simply striking with such grace, is it possible? I'm challenging his all contenders who is close to his records, including joker n his papa. 😎

Agree totally

Lots of respect for Nadal and Djokovic but both of them are hard workers When Roger is playing tennis it is an art
