100 years from now, people won't know or care who had the most tour wins or grand slams on which surface, etc., But they will always come on RUclips to watch videos of Roger before they play a local club match (like I do) just to soak in this form of art. Roger is a walking, talking clinic of how beautiful this game can be played. Federer is Tennis Perfection.

His records will be broken, but simply no one can play like him..... He must practiced a billion strokes to get to this level of graceful, fluid, balletic, effortless power. You could watch this all day and not get bored.... Watching him practice with Stefan Edberg ..... no words

His backhand sucks. that's the fact. it really showed later in his career. He did a lot of amazing flicks and digs with his backhand but also a ton of simple unforced errors that people seem to overlook. The modern game just doesnt favor single handed backhand. Just look at top 200 players and count how many has one handed back hand.

Watching Roger practice highlights the difference between him and Rafa. Roger makes you believe in the fantasy that perfect tennis is obtainable by the rec player. Rafa does the opposite. He's the reality check in that he makes tennis look like it's a completely exhausting sport that you shouldn't even bother trying to play.

I play with exactly the same racquet as him; have emulated his style. My coaches say ‘you can’t teach a “style”’. ‘Everyone should learn their own’; I disagree and have worked for years to make almost every move like him. And have enjoyed some (little) success in doing so. It is an ongoing journey.

Your coach is somewhat right thought...you can learn tennis by watching Federer as a paradigm along the way you make progress...but eventually if you want to bring out your full potential as a tennis player you will need to find your own style which you naturally play your best...just like Federer's tennis style is unique to himself, any tennis enthusiastics is bound to discover who he/she really is on court, not just copying or mimicking other players' technique/movement
