I ended up in the hospital this past March - as a processed food vegan. The doctors said that they wanted to diagnose me as diabetic (blood sugar 400) and test me for nonalcoholic fatty liver and high blood pressure and they wanted to search for other things and put me on insulin and statins, etc. Well, I switched from processed food vegan to Whole Food Plant-Based and my A1C is already down to 6. A month or two more and that should be normal. I haven't tested my liver enzymes or cholesterol again. But will be doing those soon.

I enjoy hearing Wade's pure honesty in telling all to Ann and Jane. The history of his past, not only his, but his family's too. Sometimes going backwards after knowing what he's known as he's been filming and taping all plant-based Esselstyn events. I love the authenticity of his journey, as many more people can relate to his path he was on. Thank you Wade for this interview with Ann and Jane. I thought that the prepared foods were probably not good for you, but now I know for sure! So many people tell me that eating vegan and gluten-free are expensive, but it really isn't if you cook from scratch and eat whole foods. They must be buying prepared foods. Congratulations Wade!🥳🥳🥳. I was faced with the choice of starting statins. 5 years ago, my numbers were high and family history was scary! I had to see a cardiologist and he wanted to give me meds, I said, NO! Give me 3 months to make some changes. He looked at me with skepticism but agreed. I made the lifestyle change that day to WFPB. Three months later my numbers and weight were done significantly, my doc was so happy he told me only 10% of his patients do that. He had me come back in 3 more months, numbers and weight were down more and he said goodbye, you don’t need me ! Gave me a hug and a blessing for continued good health! Nothing feels better than taking control of your own health!

This is so awesome! Congratulations to Wade. 🎉 I went through a similar process and dramatic change. But my journey started with the first time I watched Forks Over Knives. I watched it regularly for a few years. Then I had the bad labs 1 1/2 years ago at age 65. My doctor of course proposed statins. And I had already been just trying some of your recipes to see if I would like the food. So I told her (a Cleveland Clinic doctor) that I wanted to try this first. She was fully on board. So 4 months later I did a follow up to my labs... Everything was normal. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you so much for doing what you are doing. ❤😊

Then I’ve been slacking due to memorial weekend. Didn’t get back on track until Sat ( had an issue pop up again) I know now I can’t cheat at all anymore. I going strong from here on out. Can’t wait to get energy back.

I had trouble with this too. I recommend Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s book Eat to Reverse Diabetes.

I have been incorporating more raw food into my daily diet. I cook legumes and brown rice but eat all my vegetables raw. After doing research and watching Markus Rothkranz and Cara Brotman here on YT who are raw 'foodies', I am convinced that cooking and baking our foods kill the enzymes which our bodies need, and we end up eating 'dead' food. Eating 90% raw foods and intermittent fasting has helped me drop my extra weight and I feel like I have been 'reborn'. I have watched your videos and have gleaned some great tips and recipes that I can use. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom about being healthy human beings.

I am going through something similar. I had no trouble giving up animal products, but I struggled majorly with giving up ultra processed snack foods, e.g., chips, soft drinks, fries, chocolate, cookies. Almost all of my meals since I went vegan a couple of years ago were healthy, home cooked WFPB meals with low oil, no refined sugars and minimal salt, and then I would inevitably end up snacking all evening on junk. At my last checkup and blood test, my doctor told me my cholesterol was high (didn't give a breakdown) and option 1 was meds, or we could try lifestyle changes for 4 months and see where I am at. Of course I chose lifestyle, because I actually knew full well what I was supposed to be doing thanks to you ladies, Dr. Barnard at PCRM and the Exam Room Podcast, Dr. Greger and others. It was the kick in the behind I needed to finally get that ultra processed junk out of my life. It has only been 6 weeks and I am down 15 lbs and the cravings for junk have passed so I have a lot of hope that I will keep progressing before my next blood test. Congrats to Wade and thanks to the Esselstyn family for everything that you do for humans, animals and the planet!
