Love this recipe, it even is liked by my husband who is a meat eater. Thanks for sharing this video. Cook down 1 onion Garlic Mushrooms Zucchini Tomato Carrots (purple, yellow, red) 1/2 cup 1/2 cup capcicum Jelopeno chilli (half) 4 cups greens (spinach or kale, bok choy, nappa cabbage, swiss chard) 1/2 cup parley 2 cans beans (rinse canned beans) 1/2 cup salsa Rolled oats Mash oats and beans together with other cooked down. Mash together. Add spices 4 grinds black pepper (1/2 tsp) 1/2 tsps white pepper 1 tsp mrs dash. Cook in 2 loaf pans. Spread bbq sauce in bottom of each loaf pan. Half mixture between both pans and spread bbq sauce on top before baking for 1 hr.
I make this from the book but because I have wrist arthritis, I just place all ingredients in the food processor and pulse it a bit, works fantastic, the texture is more like ground meat and it's delish.
Update: made this yesterday and my family and I are completely hooked on this dinner. I have two toddlers and they ate it and loved it. Thank you so much for sharing

@Kyler Jakob Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Omg! I threw this together last night and we had it today for lunch. It was so good but so filling! We are stuffed! Very glad the recipe made two loaves. I dropped on off at the in laws. They’re vegan due to being too lazy to cook and me dropping meals at their door
Seriously, one of the best vegan loaf recipes I made. This one doesn't have that starchy/paste mouth feel like many of the lentil/potato versions. This recipe can be easily modified with various herb and spice combinations as well as veggies. Thank you!!!
I love this recipe. Have one loaf in the freezer. I like to whirl the beans in my stick blender’s mini processor so they are mashed more and bind the loaf a little better. I think I like it because it has so many veggies included.
I know this is late but I just discovered this channel. How would you cook the loaf you have frozen? Do you cook it ahead of time and then freeze it, or defrost it and then cook it?
You two are my very favourite lovely women. I made 3 eat loaves and took them to friends to prove that plant based cooking is the most wonderful, delicious, healthy and ethical way to cook and eat. Thank you so much for all your videos. I will be following you forever. Suzanne. Xx
I made this again the other day but finely chopped the veg in the food processor before sauteing. I also threw in a cup of bulgar I had hanging out in the fridge plus a small eggplant. What a difference it made in the texture! There is no way anyone could tell it wasn't the old flesh version except that the flavor is out of this world good. And BBQ sauce is a huge improvement over ketchup. Thanks for this yummy recipe.
Hello ladies I've been a vegetarian for 30 plus years and this is the the best flavour & healthy ingredients loaf I've ever made & tasted 'perfect' i enjoy the use of oats instead of wheat in most of your recipes & that's made a huge benefit to my meals thank you. I really enjoy watching the videos, please don't change, best double act I've seen in years 👏👏😍
I came back and cooked along with you, today. It was lots of fun. I used leftover lentils from dinner last night and also added celery. I like your recipes a lot when they add oodles of veggies to an old favorite. Veggies Rule! I serve it with salad and scalloped potatoes made with cauliflower bechamel. Thanks again. Have a lovely, blessed day.
Hi regular meatloaf uses bread crumbs, an egg for the glue- flax eggs maybe a good substitute? I'm going to use this recipe modified to try stuffed cabbage ? substituting oats - with riced cauliflower, eliminating BBQ (for hunt sauce), eliminating mrs. dash & jalapeño maybe use little veg. broth, flax egg & nutritional yeast?? Idk 😅, mix in with all varied veggies & beans. Stuff'roll Par boiled cabbage, tomato sauce bottom of lasagna pan & place rolled cabbage, top with sauce.. bake 350 covered w/foil 45mins -1 hr. Wish me luck 😅 You both are such a blessing to all of us learning plant based cooking. Thank you so much!
Just made mine! I add several Tbs of both chia seeds and ground flax and it worked very well. I also let it cool in the fridge for several hours before cutting it. So good!
This is one of the dishes that I miss so bad from my mom’s menu! Now I can make my own. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us. Much love my friends 💕
I made this yesterday. AMAZING!! My husband helped me....and he had his doubts....but he was the first to say how good it is. It stayed together...YUMMY!!!
I made this recipe but I did chop it all up in the processor as the previous person did. Delicious!! Tonight's dinner was so good. I've tried a lot of plant based recipes which were a disappointment. Thanks, so much for making my day!
I made this the other night and pulsed the veg in a food processor before cooking it. It really helped the structure of the loaf. And it was delicious!
Jane! "Nubs and stubs of whatever is in the fridge." Love that. You trained under the Queen, your mom who can spin a delicious feast out of anything. What a duo. Look forward to giving this a go.
Made this for the first time last night, but replaced one of the cans of white kidney beans with fat-free refried, added some smoked aminos, and a couple tablespoons of nutritional yeast. Oh my! I refrigerated it and sliced it up this morning and put it in individual bags to freeze for meals whenever. This is amazing, dear ladies! Thank you for being kitchen and health pioneers!!
I made this tonight and it was absolutely delicious. I am new to the plant based diet, but I’m being drawn in by your wonderful recipes. Love watching you both, I have a smile on my face the whole time!
I made this and it tastes really good but it was mushy. When I sauteed the veg they produced a lot of liquid. I drained the excess but I didn't squeeze it out. I wasn't how sure how it would be. I love that it is healthy and makes 2 loaves. Next time perhaps I should saute it at a higher heat to reduce the liquid. The onion alone was fairly wet.
I just made the eat loaf and it was amazing! I am new to the plant-based whole food lifestyle. This is by far my most favorite thing to make so far! Thank you for posting this recipe, I really enjoyed it!
I made a double batch on friday last week. I wish I could add a photo of my sandwich tonite. Jane is right. Gets better after it sits in the fridge a few days. I subbed raw shredded Chioggia beets for carrots cuz thats what I had but followed the rest. Make it but let it sit a few days, then slice and heat in the oven. Fabulous recipe!!
I finally got around to trying this, and oh man it's delicious! I used the Grandpa's Eatloaf recipe which is just slightly different than the version in this video, and I modified it a bit. It didn't include kale but I added it because extra kale is always good I also added some liquid smoke because I like it. I left out the tomato because I don't like tomatoes, and the mustard and sage just because I didn't have any. My mouth was watering at the smell as it cooked, and it tasted as good as it smelled. I'll be making this regularly now. 😋
I made mushroom gravy- added some garden veg - next I’ll turn it into eat loaf- or like 1/2 eat loaf and save 1/2 gravy to go over rice this was so so good!!
Oh my goodness!! I made this last night for dinner and this is hands down the best, most flavorful vegan loaf I have ever had. Better than any meatloaf recipe I have had in the past!
Enjoy your channel. Stop eating this way during covet. 100 percent back to it now. Never looking back. Craving meat loaf though. I had meat eaters come to live with me and heard constantly how I am killing my husband he needs meat etc. He got a Hernia and I caved, he had to have surgery to repair. All I know is blood pressure out the roof on him and weight gain, me too. I felt like crap too. No energy, just three months back to eating this way and his blood pressure is down, mine too but still have it high sometimes. Weight has just came off me. Your channel is a great support for me. Just ordered your newest cookbook and have this one too. So will be digging it out of bookshelf. Thank you I wish you were my neighbors. I know no one who eats this way. I get told all the time you need meat and dairy. Even my doctor doesn't agree with diet. I am going to find another one. Just cannot figure out how. I cannot really pick my own have to go to the one my insurance recommends. I live in Central Florida, and its country.
I’ve made this and we all liked it. You didn’t mention the oven temperature but no big deal as it’s already cooked when it goes in. I enjoy the simplicity and the slightly chaotic presentation. Your camera guy has the best job as you always give him a sample.
Just wondering is this flavor enhanced good for you? If plant base is our natural food why try make it taste like meat? Need to understand when I'm asked this question.
@@whatisgoingonineedtoknow. Because some people like the taste of meat loaf. Because it helps some people transition to PB. Because it's plant based doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't taste meat based. With that kind of narrow thinking, we couldn't even make the "eat loaf" because it's a substitute for meat loaf. If it can look like it, it can taste like it. So ask them "why not"? The reasons for being plant based usually has nothing to do with flavor. Ohh LOVE the name! 😆... you two are so funny! THANKS so much for all you give and share 🤗. Such a great support source for a healthy whole food, plant based way of eating.
LOL, yes, egg is used as a binding in meat loaf. This looks delicious and I will be adding this to my bean recipes. My favorite meat loaf (seldom made anymore, alas) uses onion, celery, worchestershire sauce, and poultry seasoning along with salt and pepper. I will adapt those seasonings to this as I found out it was the seasonings folks found they loved rather than the meat! Meat loaf sandwiches were popular the next day, and I think this will be good for that as well.
Can’t wait to try this one! I’m sure you don’t want to know what’s in a meatloaf recipe. However, as binders, you do have the oats which can be used or breadcrumbs, potato chips, etc. Usually, an egg or two is added. Yet, if everything holds together without it, it would be just better. So, I think you have natural binders there.
I love your sweater, Jane!! So beautiful and beautiful on you 👌😊🌟 I love, love this recipe, and find your videos with your Mom so enjoyable and relaxing and great tutorials. I have been Vegan, plant based for 6 years!! I love it 💖😍🌟
I just made this recipe from the book, and may I say... WOW! I literally LOVED this so much! I hope it freezes well, I cooked the 2 pans full and am going to freeze one for later. Great job!!
Just made this. Lots of liquid so I drained the veggies before adding to dry ingredients . I used Catsup cuz that’s all I had on hand. I also used 1/2 kale & 1/2 spinach. So delicious! I only had lemon pepper so that’s what I used too. This is going to be made at least once a month if not more! Yummm can’t wait to see how the sandwiches are. My husband loved it too!
I love your videos! The thing I like about your recipes is that they're pretty basic...down to earth...nothing fancy. I think I have most of your cookbooks but have only tried a few recipes. I have this lazy bone in me and I struggle with the motivation. (sorry for the true confession 😊). I definitely want to try this one. Thanks for all you ladies do...and the rest of your Team!
I have the same problem with motivation especially with cooking. I need to get the cookbook to try their recipes, since I am new to WFPB eating. This looks delicious! I have watched a lot of their videos and the food looks great.
I could probably put complete mixture in food processor to mash and combine a little better, correct? And I like the chia or flax egg idea for seeds in it too!
This was tasty! I added an additional 1/2 cup of oatmeal based on comments. I also let the vegetables cook longer cause I used kale and it dried more then too. I also added 1/4 cup bbq sauce to the mixture.
You girls should chop those kale stems into half inch pieces and throw them in for the fiber so recommended by Dr. B - they are not bitter. Can you say "microbi-yumm".
Just made it and am very pleased with how it tastes and holds together. I have your cookbook and made your roasted roots casserole as a side dish. You inspire me to try new vegetables!! Love that it is all fat free and that it also has a whole bag of chopped spinach. I would serve this to company.
I love this recipe! I would use a food processor on everything, but reserve 1/2 of the oats. Once I get it out of the processor, I will mix the remaining 1/2 of the oats in, for texture.
Ok, YT just suggested ur video, and u two are a little quirky, but I LOVE UR ENERGY and interaction together. I watched u two make a salad w every green known to man in it. Now, I am excited to make this Eatloaf (love the name). I quickly ordered ur cookbook.
I love Ann's hands and forearms. They remind me of my Mother's . Cherish her very moment you are with her. Listen to all her wisdom❣You will always learn from her knowledge and intelligence. My Mother died 2 years ago. Katie, she was 92, abd a terrific cook. I miss her so very much. Bon Appetite!
i was thinking a flax egg might be a helpful addition? but after i saw the loaf that was cooked last night....and how nicely it held together....maybe a flax egg is unnecessary! im gonna use kidney beans and black beans in mine so it looks more meaty (for visiting non-vegans) and ooh Jane i cant wait to do what u said & FRY UP SLICES OF IT the next day then i will mount each crunchy~crusted slice upon a pile of hot mashed potatoes! Mmmmm.
I made a loaf with oats a few weeks ago and I found the texture unappealing. I made another with chick peas and loved it. This recipe has many more ingredients. Maybe the oats will be less mushy than in the one I made.
I would just like to say thank you for the channel. You 2 ladies are making learning 2 cook plantbased super fun. I have last night made this dish. It's already my favourite. Yum yum. Thanks so much from OZ. O I have newly gone plantbased day 11 now. And hardest was giving up milk. Dr E made it easy though by listening 2 him talk on RUclips.pls keep making new videos.
I love to make this. Just 2 in my home. We eat some the first day with mashed potatoes and green beans. Then a couple of sandwiches the next day. I cut the second loaf into serving sizes and freeze. We eat that over the next month. Always good!
This is DELICIOUS. I was wary of the beans, as I dislike the consistency of beans, but they are so good. This whole recipe is out of this world. It’s going to be my go-to for potlucks. I just have to believe this will make converts to more healthy eating.
I made this the other night. I made half of it as a loaf. For the second half, I tried just throwing the ingredients in a bowl and microwaving until hot and mixing the sauce in. The texture wasn't quite the same but the flavor was fine and it was a huge time-saver. 8 minutes instead of an hour. I used Sweet Baby Ray's sugar-free sauce - because I am trying to lose weight and that only has 15 calories per serving. (But it is higher in sodium, so there is a balance)
This is delicious! I made it a day ahead as suggested in the video. I used Trader Joe’s sriracha bbq sauce. I only made half of the recipe (one loaf) but I absolutely should have made the full recipe to freeze a loaf. So good!
I make something similar. I add raw jackfruit which has a chicken like texture. I also put the baking pans with the mixture in it in a microwave oven till it heats up and then it goes into the gas oven. That speeds it up, to half hour. Everything is cooked or partially cooked so there is no noticeable difference. I am India, so, of course there are some spices that constitute curry powder, cinnamon, cardamom, and cayenne and more.We Indians abhor all natural tastes of the vegetables so we have to add generous amounts of spices.
Love watching you two prepare the recipes from the book. I've had the book for a long time and have made many recipes, but some things just seem like they would take too much time; you have proven differently! Cheers!
I love this and CANNOT leave it alone!...its an awesome cold sandwich for snack time too..delicious hot or cold..Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!
it looks amazing. those veggies cooked nicely into it. i have a big family, how many servings did this make? i swear they all eat man size portions. and do you have a few favorite side dishes you like to eat with it?
I don't like barbecue sauce or catsup, so any other ideas to use? Anyone? I also might try mashed potatoes with the oatmeal, with some beans too. My mother made the best real meat meatloaf growing up. She used eggs and soda crackers crushed in it, with green peppers, onions and I think mushrooms. I loved it cold with catsup in a sandwich.
One more thing, you can make the salsa yourself if you have access to fresh red tomatoes. If you want to make the sauce and keep it for a year, there are many tutorials. It's a big job but you only do it once a year. Normally, the traditional sauce only contains tomatoes but sometimes a fresh basil leaf is added for flavor. 🍅🍅🍅
An induction hot plate may be easier for you to cook with. The induction hot plate plugs in and therefore would eliminate the butane replacement cartridges. Love your channel ladies, always entertaining 🥰
This was one of my first, continuously rotated, FAVORITE meals when first living a plant based lifestyle 😁 mixed blessing-I love it so much that I overeat it😜thank you lovely ladies!

How much oats?

Of course! Dont over mix though or it willl be mushy.
My husband cant eat onions so I use hing, which is a spice with an onion taste.
Hi Anna! What is hing and where do you get it?
@@Noneck1999 Hi it's also called asafoetida we buy it at the Asian grocer, it's in powder form.
If you had blended in a food processor and add ground flaxseed, then you could have eaten it warm the same day...
I’ll try to add flax seeds but i’d prefer to keep chunks.

Absolutely LOVE you two! 💖🌱
you have to firmly press it into the pan for it to hold together!
I love how you both cook together. So funny.
Just made it and am very pleased with how it tastes and holds together. I have your cookbook and made your roasted roots casserole as a side dish. You inspire me to try new vegetables!! Love that it is all fat free and that it also has a whole bag of chopped spinach. I would serve this to company.
Hi , we have nettles growing wild here, sooo I will use those for the green . Did you mention the oven temperature?
Oven temps are standard. Look up any loaf recipe.
350 degrees for one hour
I love this recipe! I would use a food processor on everything, but reserve 1/2 of the oats. Once I get it out of the processor, I will mix the remaining 1/2 of the oats in, for texture.
Chopped walnuts give this wonderful dish a little more texture too
And is a lovely mild creamy nutty flavour addition
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom a little over a year ago. Wish every day she was here.
Bless you both for this channel! Always wanted to make veggie meatoaf and so happy NO eggs! Also you both are so cute! Thank you! 💜🧡
i was thinking a flax egg might be a helpful addition? but after i saw the loaf that was cooked last night....and how nicely it held together....maybe a flax egg is unnecessary! im gonna use kidney beans and black beans in mine so it looks more meaty (for visiting non-vegans) and ooh Jane i cant wait to do what u said & FRY UP SLICES OF IT the next day then i will mount each crunchy~crusted slice upon a pile of hot mashed potatoes! Mmmmm.
Thank you for this suggestion. 🙏❤️😊
I made a loaf with oats a few weeks ago and I found the texture unappealing. I made another with chick peas and loved it. This recipe has many more ingredients. Maybe the oats will be less mushy than in the one I made.
Thank you, thank you and thank you. I appreciate you all so very much.
Oh this is one of our favorite recipes.❤️
I love to make this. Just 2 in my home. We eat some the first day with mashed potatoes and green beans. Then a couple of sandwiches the next day. I cut the second loaf into serving sizes and freeze. We eat that over the next month. Always good!
How much oats were added ? Thank you
This is DELICIOUS.
So good!
I loved the Virtual Conference today, really enjoyed it and I learned so much. Can't wait till next Wednesday for part 2😊❤
Lol I was married in 1989. Still going strong with three beautiful boys
Agreed! Giving the dish dimensions of heat and flavor adds flavorful interest to the recipe.....
Must try!! Looks delicious!! Thank you😃
I make something similar.
Cheers!
You didn’t say what temp you cook it at and how much oats to put it into it. I suppose I could have missed it. I’m going to do this tomorrow. Thanks.
🙌🤓 I made Eatloaf!!! thank you both so much!! love it!!
LOVE your quote of Dr. Michael Greger....that's why I buy only DINO kale...the darkest kale. I *have* to try this recipe! Looks so great!
Growing up, I DREADED meatloaf! ICK!!
But, your Eatloaf looks yummy. Can't wait to try it :)
Mum is right, squeezing food with your hands is rewarding and makes the food taste better!
🌞💖🌱
Looks great! I’d love to make it and could you please do a simple list of the ingredients and the quantities needed 🙏
Came out really well. I added a tablespoon and a half of flaxseed. Thank you
Have you tried adding flax egg to help everything bind together?
This is without a doubt my favorite recipe in the book. So delicious and easy to make.
I love this and CANNOT leave it alone!...its an awesome cold sandwich for snack time too..delicious hot or cold..Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!
flax meal works good as a binder too
Thank you!!
Wow, new subscriber here, that meatloaf looks absolutely delicious. I will make this recipe soon. Thank you! 💖
This recipe looks great. Is there anything that could be substituted for the mushrooms (as I'm not a fan of the taste/flavour)?
OMGosh, this was amazing! Thank you for this recipe, it was a homerun!
it looks amazing. those veggies cooked nicely into it. i have a big family, how many servings did this make? i swear they all eat man size portions. and do you have a few favorite side dishes you like to eat with it?
I am from the UK 🇬🇧 we don't have Mrs Dash, please can you tell me what is in it so I can use the correct seasonings. Many thanks 😊
My mouth is watering!! 🤤🤤

That looks so good! I am new to plant based cooking and really appreciate all your great ideas!
An induction hot plate may be easier for you to cook with. The induction hot plate plugs in and therefore would eliminate the butane replacement cartridges. Love your channel ladies, always entertaining 🥰
That looks lovely, can't wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing. All the very best frm England
This was one of my first, continuously rotated, FAVORITE meals when first living a plant based lifestyle 😁 mixed blessing-I love it so much that I overeat it😜thank you lovely ladies!
cant wait to try it, what temperature, Please, and TY x
