I've been watching your videos for a couple years now to find a capable off roader and all the suvs seem to be crap, but I haven't seen this video. This suv is a beast.
Same here, but we decided to opt for the V6. We use it most on road trips anyways and when you have people and luggage on board, the extra power makes it a lot better. Though the fuel economy is down, but 26 MPG is still pretty good.
My Parents own one. My Mom's old minivan died, and decided we don't really need a van anymore, so we got the Sorento. They love it. Its pretty nice too and the V6 pulls pretty hard if you floor it
We have a 2013 AWD Sorento and I put on 4 Yokohama Geolander A/T tires; we off-road it whenever we get the chance, and it's surprisingly capable. I have a Vaiar air compressor, so when we're off-roading something difficult, we can confidently air down to 20psi and the combination of the tires and Kia have really good results.
Sorento feels much more capable off-road. The Sportage feels very breakable. We don't have any hard facts to support this but we've gone up the same trail in both the Sorento did much better. Keep in mind this could also be because of different tires on both vehicles.
I own a 2012 Sorento as well and i think it is a pretty good family car with huge practicality. The only problem is the surprisingly stiff ride, it jumps and bumps on even a minor hole or hump which makes it pretty uncomfortable. 175hp from the 2.4L engine is also struggling a bit to haul the weight of my Sorento. But hey it's still fine.
It always surprises me anyway, especially at night when im like "oh here comes a Chevy Colorado" and then no one in the vehicle has ever heard of that truck lol.
Oops, my bad. Thanks for correcting me on the Saturn. I'm not a Saturn fan, so I didn't remember which one that was. I agree with you on the Sorento. Kia has really come a long way on quality. fit and finish and overall looks since they entered the US market. I would buy one right now if I had the money.
Roman, I'm with you. You have the same problem with mid-size CUVs with the anonymous look. However, if you want more of a problem with similar looking CUVs -- try the compact CUVs.
Is it basically the same size as the previous generation? That's one of the things I liked about it, it was essentially a big small SUV. Or a small big SUV. Not too big, or small.
At 2:32 there is absolutely NO similarity in those tail lights. From left to right you have Buick Enclave, Kia Sorento, and Saturn Vue. I knew the difference between them and I have bad eye sight. What's your excuse?
the sorento seems capable, could you guys please tell me if you noticed any major difference between the performance of the AWD system of the sorento and the sportage? do they use the same system? because im pretty sure the one on the portage is electronic, is it the same on the sorento or is it an actual locking case?
Don't be so picky, He has a point they do look similar at a glance, the tail lights are all around the same height and all of the rear glass also slope out. BTW most people would not be able to tell the difference of brands here, even if they do read the badges.
3. most or equal importatnt ..is the good road clearance and soft suspension on a min.19 cm. 4. on the 2.2 and 197&450 Nm diesel engine I discover the 1 diferential on the 6spd. gearbox is very...low ...to compensate the lack of the 2 step reductor on the old mk. Sorento. It has torgue on the 800 rpm on the most heavy muddy&snowie slopes :)!!
I'm not trying to make fun of you or anyone else. I admit my comment was too harsh, but all I was trying to do was speak my opinion on the first comment. To me they are not alike because of the different shapes of the light housings themselves. The Sorento is much more sporty looking than both of the other cars. I have removed the harsh comment and I apologize if it offended you.
i thought AWD vehicle uses a viscous coupling differential rather then a center open differential... anyway wouldnt viscous coupling be more capable of offroading?
I saw you vehicle about the Kia Sorento and I have a 2011 I'm looking to lift it and I found those parts but what I'm looking for if you know of a place a steel skid plate to go under the engine
Most people waste money on AWD especially when they don't need it. If you live in a dry environment that never gets winter awd drive is a waste of money unless it comes standard with the car like Subaru.
i think that the dodge journey would beat that car in a test it has a lot more horse power, and i it looks a lot different than all the other crossovers
no locking differential in a sorento. Nor is there one in the middle of any vehicle. what you are trying to name is the power transfer unit for the awd system.

I sold this car a week ago had since first month of its release i can absolutely say it was the best car i have ever bought i mean its a beast
Ye my Nanna had one from 2:years old sold it for a new Sorento it only had 38k on it after 5 years never had a problem with it
Our mistake, you are correct on the EX GDI 191 HP engine.

That's funny that you write this because that was our very same conclusion when we first reviewed the Sorento
What do you like better offroad, this or a CVT Outback?
We have a diesel one here in Australia. Might have to have a go offroad... Looks like it's pretty good if you don't go silly.
Not one Kia should go offroading. It doesn't matter if it's lifted or it has mud tires, it's a Kia which is designed to be on the road. Good video
No harm done, and I do see your point, I do think you would be surprised how many people would not be able to tell the difference though!
You bet but Honda has yet to loan us the car for a review.
This thing would kick everyone's ass.
And any chance you can put the 12 CR-V AWD through the same test?
At 2:32 there is absolutely NO similarity in those tail lights. From left to right you have Buick Enclave, Kia Sorento, and Saturn Vue. I knew the difference between them and I have bad eye sight. What's your excuse?
Why didn't you take the V6?
True. Of course, that also means that you have to "live in a dry environment that never gets winter." :)
the sorento seems capable, could you guys please tell me if you noticed any major difference between the performance of the AWD system of the sorento and the sportage? do they use the same system? because im pretty sure the one on the portage is electronic, is it the same on the sorento or is it an actual locking case?
They sure did we have a Borrego EX V8 a pretty nice ride
Saturn Outlook haha. But I agree with you on that. They don't. Especially from the Front. The sorento looks menacing compared to most other SUVs IMO
Don't be so picky, He has a point they do look similar at a glance, the tail lights are all around the same height and all of the rear glass also slope out. BTW most people would not be able to tell the difference of brands here, even if they do read the badges.
I thought the EX trim gets the GDI motor with 200HP?
1:15 LOL HIS NEW ENEMY XDD
3. most or equal importatnt ..is the good road clearance and soft suspension on a min.19 cm.

they should try the 3.5 sorrento
V6 is very good car! :)
Unfortunately the V6 is not offered here in my country. But even if it is, it would be too expensive for me. Our car tax here is pretty high.

Wish they kept this generation rwd based like the previous gen and not a fwd crossover.
i thought AWD vehicle uses a viscous coupling differential rather then a center open differential... anyway wouldnt viscous coupling be more capable of offroading?

Actually, the Enclave and Outlook are both full-size crossovers.
good car we have this
what about this car ? i want to buy the same >>
Sorento the Great Offroder.
looks just like my car same color same style same car
we get the diesel one only 2.2 turbo 197 HP with a lot of torque =D
shouldn't you cover the license plates of other cars?
Nice !!
역시쏘렌토
This may be the last Sorento, Kia can't get these off their lots...I think it's far too expensive, especially for a Kia
What? It has always sold well. You just don't like KIA
8 years later: Kia’s killing it with their new Sorento :)
Most people waste money on AWD especially when they don't need it. If you live in a dry environment that never gets winter awd drive is a waste of money unless it comes standard with the car like Subaru.
i guess KIA learned something in the short time it made the Borrego.
I kind of like it
Btw it's front end looks like a Lexus RX350
32K? Geeze!
Cool
Use my 2011 kia sorento it has the nice v6 engine and twice the power
I to have the 2011 with the v6 best vehicle i ever had. I just wish it was awd but i still have large alt tires i still take it off roads :)
I think the worst part of the Sorento is the rear.
You don't build tree houses in your spare time do you?
i think that the dodge journey would beat that car in a test
it has a lot more horse power, and i it looks a lot different than all the other crossovers
You can buy A Skylight or a VIdeo player at dave solons kia I got the car with Wood interer and skylight :D
I don't think it to copy other things. . . Of course subjective.
lol 1:12
the 4runner
2:29 sure I can, the one in the middle is the sorento...LOL
nice ride but will never go off roading since i'm a city guy. no desire for it.
that road is gonna be too easy for a jeep
i think crv is not for offroad
zinger1231000 I took a '98 crv off road all the time. It did very well, but I ended up replacing sway bar links and CV boots because of it.
no locking differential in a sorento. Nor is there one in the middle of any vehicle. what you are trying to name is the power transfer unit for the awd system.
I'm done with kia brand. Every time it broke down, there is always something else breaks after 20 days
Lol, sounds like you got a lemon. It happens. My 2012 Sorento is a beast with 140k miles and running strong.

Rwd sucks In snow why even bother with that especially with a heavy ass SUV like this
