I think it would be maddening. But if they got away because the pursuit was called off of they realized the risk was too great, thst would be different.
Best thing about being from the area is that you can relate to all of these stories as Ben tells them in such detail. If only I’d looked outside my window and seen a John Deere gator come cruising by in a not so hot pursuit 😂
I can just imagine cctv operators, ACR and everyone on the same airwave channel had a good laugh at this Ben. It's a bsrd when someone makes off and manages to out wit you, but as we all say in the job, they'll come again, and they always do ❤️ Got to give it to them, they certainly thought outside the box, on something as slow as one pmsl 😂😂😂 xx
@@markmarkie1950 I'm 99% sure they were. Was all over the local papers at the time. This was in the mid 90's though so most still had a sense of humour as they were just trying to get home. Poor ol' Mrs Miggins .... sound like she could be in the running for a good slice of compo. Great vid and the references to the areas you worked REALLY HITS HOME. As always a big THANK YOU.
Hi Ben, thanks for the latest tale! Don't be so hard on yourself, the car that got away? As long as you and Christine are bobbing along nicely! Keep safe 💕
Another great video Ben. The golf cart story was brilliant and very funny but i can imagine how frustrating it must be for you and colleagues when the drivers in the fast cars get away.
Thanks Ben. Its like you've lived more than the rest if us because of your career. Just glad you're safe and made the tough decision to retire for you. The golf car you described is called a gator in the US.
Closest thing would be to contact the IAM(Institute of Advanced Motorists) they might be able to hook you up with a local group and take it from there.
@@daleohara95 The book Roadcraft, if it's still avaliable used to be in the driving section/highway code at WH Smiths. In fairness it's just paying attention to how you're driving and focusing on what you're doing. ANYHOW all the best ....just think of Mrs Miggins.
Always going to be ones that get away we aren't perfect! Good on you, you probably saved a few lives those days - whether it be an innocent life, the criminal or yourself. Not worth it, let then get away
Ben, do any of your pals drive like a learner doing their test when you're in the car with them? My grandfather used to be a traffic officer back in the 70s. I felt almost intimidated by how skilled he was in his prime. Drove like I was about to lose my license every time I gave him a lift.
Brilliant vid Ben keep up the great work. I bet it's the worse feeling in the world having someone slipping through your fingers. Anyway brilliant story Ben. 💪👍🇬🇧
I drive a 1.6 diesel Focus - its not the quickest thing, but its so easy to keep up with people in "fast" cars because they're so bad at navigating a roundabout or a bend... But of course I always drive with due care and attention, officer!
Great to hear from you Ben and very honest. I wholeheartedly agree on the Straight line comment, there's a certain type of vehicle which flatters an idiots driving skills and you hit the nail on the head. As I said in a previous msg, the Government should pass a law that orders fast car manufacturers to make examples of their cars available to police forces, so you have an even playing field. Be careful, Best wishes, Ben 🚌🚍🏎️🏎️😇👍🇬🇧
To get away you have to drive really dangerous to get the pursuit called off and do what the police cant. It's not that there better drivers than police just willing to take more risks
Ben you should do something where you charge little ricers to have you chase them in a controlled environment, could be a fun scenario for all involved and could give you a buzz if you miss it🤷🏼♂️👊🏼
Just my own point of view, you might catch hell from the other officers but you get to go home. When I was taken down, no bail, my money disappeared, and I wound up with a 5 to 10, and 7 plus 3 to run overlapping. With plenty of time to think about how I might have gotten away, or killed. Keep up the great stories Ben.
