Just started to read your book. I never realized you're around my age. Which makes your policing experiences even more bizarre. Your story is full of opposites. You were a naive lad who didn't know the world, but brave enough to be a cop. Scared to the bones, but full of pride to be someones who helpes and protects. I think you were too soft for the job, and that's exactly what made you a very fine cop. All those emotional contradictions together with the sheer amount of raw reality, no wonder you got PTSD. You really are a bear-skinner. Amazing. Respect.
@@jeane1889 I don't think he was too soft for the job. He had to see shit that majority of people never have to see. It takes a certain type of person to see and deal with what he's had to deal with and carry on. He did just that. Most people wouldn't be able to. Of course he got PTSD, I'm sure a lot of police officers have it too. Mental health problems are common, and although he had a job where he had to encounter these things, he's still human and those things inevitably get to you. But don't perpetuate certain terms like "too soft". He had a very normal and expected reaction to such things.
The last episode of the next series of Police Interceptors should just be the officers sitting down and telling stories like that I'm sure it would be good
I had a policy of always admitting voluntarily to every mistake I did. People thought I was mad, when I could easily have got away with it...but I had a plan. On the one occasion I really fkd up, leaving a highly classified cabinet insecure and was questioned about it, I denied all knowledge and pretended to be shocked and demanded from then on only the Colonel and I should have the access combinations. It worked and saved my career, because my boss refused to believe it was me. I told him when he was leaving, he just laughed and told me to keep doing what I did for the new boss as it worked! Peace Charlie 🇬🇧
So you were a clerk to a Staff Officer? Or adjutant to a CO? Neither of which puts you in a position of demand by those investigating the matter - and I’ve never known keys like that that weren’t signed out or back in - so could we have some context? I despise people who hide their mistakes in old cupboards, they think it’s a sign of weakness to own up because they don’t realise it’s the only time you actually learn, and *everyone* makes them - anyone who says he never f’kd up is a lying weasel who garners no respect from his peers. F’ck up, fix it, laugh it up and learn so you can teach others. Everyone already knows who the culprit is - he’s the one who never throws his hands up. 👍
I can't lie. Well, I can, but my face always betrays me, so I usually go with the truth. One time I bent the truth, I got away with it. Rental car at work, used it at the weekend to move some furniture to the tip. Whoosh! Rear windscreen pops out as we hit a pothole - the old armchair pushing against the real window probably didn't help... My boss pulled me in to the office, the rental company wouldn't believe it popped out, my boss confronted me, I crossed my heart and said "I didn't overload the car." It was true, my brother had packed the boot full of rubbish!
That Sargent was right - he could spot a fat wrong 'un a mile away. He should have sacked ben for being incompetent and saved us all the agony of listening to ben's drivel. Driving second to none??? fook off Ben
Silent witness mate? She's not even a copper!! 😂😂 Just want to say that the difference in you in just the 2 months you've been doing this is blatently clear, I really hope that unloading the backpack on us is helping you because you're definitely helping us. Thanks Ben, have a great bank holiday 💛
I love these videos. Really thinking about going into the police after uni and your videos really show the real side of the police. It’s not all fun and games. So much respect Ben!

It’s a shame you couldn’t use your talks at some point in high schools or even public service courses at colleges or universities, be a speaking guest at any, make people know what policing is really about off the screens, it would be amazing, awesome video as always I’m never missing one ☝️ ❤️
Yet another fantastic video another hilarious story it had me in stitches mate. Brilliant Ben absolutely brilliant keep up the fantastic work mate I'm loving the frequent uploads and your awesome stories as always 💪👍🇬🇧
Another brilliant video as always Ben. I had a manager a bit like your old Sargeant- always giving people a right bollocking for the slightest and most stupid things. She backed down when I stood up to her and wouldn't be spoken to like that again and was quite nice to me after that. This video has definately put a smile back on my face after a manic Bank Holiday Weekend shift in the Supermarket I work in.
We all had a boss like that ffs... Having my son training to be a PC coming from a young mum... this channel is ace.. Can I just say your a legend!! I didn't like authority growing up but as I mature and being a front line working now. I see what the 50 do and why... my son.. we be watching your channel together.. Keep it up Ben!! Inspiration 💪
Great stories as usual Ben, you were unlucky or had an unlucky omen as you said. Us professional drivers never have bumps 🚍🚌😂🤣😆. I remember a ride in a Police Panda (astra) and a call for urgent assistance whilst in it, on a road with big speed bumps. The general consensus i think with the public is all police cars have heavy duty parts, this particular astra wasn't so cracky after 3 bumps at 40 rather than 15! Keep up the stories you are much more relaxed now and look at ease in front of the camera. Interceptor narrator Or Crime watch beckon, or if that fails come and learn how to drive "proper" "On the buses" 😆🤣😂🚌🚍😁. Best wishes. Ben
More great insights 😊. Been in a similar situation (engineering) trying to do my best for a boss who is not on my side. It was a case of if it can go wrong it did and the harder I tried not to mess up it did!
Ben : he wernt bullying me , he were just errm you know , its how he dealt with things. me : i think you mean teasing ben , is that the word your looking for ?? lol
It'd be great if we could have some videos with a bit longer content.. Absolutely love your sit downs! Perhaps like a half hour one with some of your past work colleagues chatting about some of the good times you all had?
I still have this bookmarked for the cheeky skitt every now and then 😁 "voom voom voom voom" "rs6 come round the corner, could see it go.. FFUcking ell!" 😆👏👏
I love your stuff! I watched Police Interceptors all the way from Australia! I think a good video idea would be how to respond to police when being pulled over and what to say etc.
Hi Ben, Loving the videos! I showed one of my mates who has just joined the police - he was wondering if you could do a video on your top tips for people joining the police and some funny/embarrassing experiences in your first year!
Loving this series, love your openness showing the good and worst of policing, no shame in asking for help when needed. These videos could be used for training. How restrained were you when being filmed compared to normal? What was you best and worst points whilst having the cameras with you?
This is BY FAR! the best, funniest and most honest video I've seen from you so far Ben! Bloody good lad you are . Thanks for sharing the good, bad, ugly, exciting, scary, fkn disturbing!...then this video lol. I can relate to this mate, when it goes wrong often in a short period of time its soul destroying....but eventually you get a WIN, and it makes you think...(would I have got this win, if I hadnt have learnt from the fuck ups Ive just suffered?)
had a colleague that got into a pursuit, bandit dumped and ran, so he parked up and ran after bandit.... lost bandit, came back to find car gone. was freaking out massively, then was walking back down the road and found his car.... he'd left it in neutral with e-brake off, and it rolled backwards down the hill and into a light pole
Another good one Ben, takes big balls to sit & tell people you mistakes, takes even bigger balls to do it a youtube channel I would have thought too. Keep these tales coming mate, & dont stop the swearing either, it makes us normal people relate to it. Hope it's helping the PTSD & everything else as well.
@Ben Pearson do you think you could do a video on what you think the problems are with todays police like new recruits coming through and what you would change? Many thanks keep up the good work 👍🏻
As a professional driver, it is a requirement in law to ensure that all wheels and tyres are in a safe, legal condition before starting to drive. This, of course includes spare wheels.
I'm a paramedic, and I recall a mate telling me that he was on an on-the-road reassessment with a trainer. He attended a patient and opened his response bag (at the time personal issue) and a dozen porno mags dropped out in front of the patient. Mortified. Your mates are not your mates 😂
I think I saw this pursuit about 5:30 am near Halifax I was just about to pull out looked over and there was an Audi and 5 police cars coming towards me
It shows that ther is bullying in every workplace especially psychological bullying. We all make mistakes, but pulling you up for being early or 1 minute late is a person who wants to pick on people and exert their authority to make their head and shoulders bigger than everyone else.
Ben, we've all had a TWAT for a Sergeant brother. I got reg nine'd as it was then for taking the two front wheels off his car on nights!!! Ha ha wouldn't change a thing!!!

This guy cheers me up when I'm feeling at my lowest. Laughed so hard when you said the wheel came off. Thanks Ben
Ben was brilliant on Happy Hour, such a great guest.
Where did you watch it?

@@Jacob_Field it will be on jaackmaates youtube podcast soon. Just came on Spotify
“I’ve now crashed, I’m NOT in pursuit” 😂😂😂
Funny video this one, loved it 👍🏻😂
I've got it. New TV comedy show. Ben and Karl Pilkilton as pursuit cops in the 1980's, driving the mean streets in a Austin metro 😆😆
Brilliant idea!
Ricky Gervais as the sergeant who is never happy with their work, I think you're onto sumat here.

100% true, hoovered my car out yesterday in the sun, swear to god I gained 20 BHP
Cleaned my alloys got 90bhp more
I miss my WYP days. I had a very happy 10 years there. The words 'vehicle failing to stop' brings a smile to my face....
I was eating and 5:43 hits I spit it out all over my screen laughing. Cheers mate, much appreciated.
