There is definitely something about the switch that doesn’t feel like a toy anymore, as the other consoles use to be like. It’s been stripped down to just a console.
@Rey Izz_Official definitely agree, unfortunately I rarely every really pick up my 3ds anymore. Not that It don’t work but just not really interested in it anymore. I have really amazing memories with my 3ds. Even upgraded to the SNES edition. But I rarely ever pick it up...
@DØN#2Ø20 I could say the same for New Horizons. Not as much content as I feel like say New leaf had. Again I know they’re going to prolong the games life span through updates, which I totally understand but I’ve done all there is to do in till they update it. NL had all the features but you had to unlock them later in game.
im 15. I was never allowed a console until 2 years ago on my birthday, when I got a Nintendo Switch. To hear this news saddened me. I had played DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U games at my friend's houses, but never played one myself, never had a game as good as those to call my own. I recently bought a New 2DS XL just so I could live out part of the childhood I never had
I fell bad for you, you will never get to experience the anticipation of waiting for a sequel to a game I did with pokemon black and white and the absolute pure joy you get from it. You will still get it but it won't be near as much compared to what I remember

I feel your pain In my case my 3Ds and my friend's PSVita were stolen at my school together with a bunch of others random objects from several "rich" students, No one has ever found the culprit. All the school could do was to warn parents that they would not be responsible for any losses at school, whether electronic or not. It only had 2 months of use. 😞 I miss It a Lot.
My sister lost my 3DS this year too and it held a bunch of my childhood memories as well. Gonna cry forever now. I bought a 2DS xl this year but the 3DS was special...
My biggest gripe about the switch in general, is that there aren't many games that use Miis, and there are no games that center around them like there were on the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS. I had a good time with games like Tomodachi Life and Miitopia, I just wish Nintendo made a game like those on the Switch. *Edit: Miitopia is coming to Switch, at least now they kind of care
I just bought a New 2ds xl cause I never played a 3ds system before, and I must say, I am enjoying it a lot! Not only can I play the games of my childhood on the DS, but I can also play “new” games for the 3ds and 3ds xl! I love this console.
At November 2021 they should make 3 mii games that are based off the others since it’s 15 years since miis were released, we should have a miitopia 2, tomodachi life 3 (tomodachi life was actually the second), and a sports game focusing on miis. And if Nintendo wanted to they could make a Wii Party U Deluxe.
This is sad. When Nintendo was doing bad the 3ds handhelds raised Nintendo up while the wii u was doing bad and it was a truly amazing system. I honestly I'm so sad to see this console go. While I believe the 3d was kinda a gimmick I enjoyed playing Mario kart 7 and smash bros 4. It also was really accessible for people who couldn't avoid 300 and 400 dollar consoles. Goodbye old friend. You will be missed but my smiles will go for miles and I'll cheer you on while you leave us... You have brought joy to do many and we all wish the 3ds farewell.
What’s funny Is that Wii U’s failure end up contributing to creating one of the best consoles to date, the Switch, in a way you could say that Wii U was a prototype
I honestly don’t know how the Wii U failed, it had outstanding games, I guess it was because of the game pad making the console more expensive then it needed to be.
Portalcrafter Productions from what I read it’s because it had a weak catalog, it had some gems here and there, but not enough, and due to the nature of the console it was hard to support third party titles, making it hard to compete with the other consoles
@@Portalcrafter Mostly because when it was announced Nintendo wasn't very clear on the weither or not it was a new console or an addon/new version of the Wii, the name (adding a U to Wii ofc) didn't help either, I remember at the time I and many people were wondering about what it really was And yeah also the weak catalog at launch, it had a lot of games that already were on other consoles for months, sometimes a full year (AC3, ME3, Arkham City) and one of its big exclusives, ZombiU, wasn't really too hot
As a kid, my cousins and I would gather around the couch or the dinner table and we would play Mario kart for hours on end. If not Mario kart then we’d mess around in pictochat as if we had our own phones I miss those days
Honestly, my favorite innovation with the 3DS has to be Streetpass. I mostly played the 3DS in a time where being a Nintendo fan wasn't easy. So meeting hundreds of other people enjoying the same system and games was truly a delight (Also the streetpass mii park games where bloody fun.)
over the years ive managed to get 1000 miis in my plaza. I still take my 3ds on the go and also rarely meet anyone. Today I met some mii in costco lol. But its only a matter of time for nintendo to discontinue mii plaza too :(

Purchased myself a 3ds xl for nostalgia reasons earlier this year and don't regret it!! Got all the zelda games available so now i have to hurry up and get the rest of my catalogue built up before the prices skyrocket!
1. They came after the 3ds and they are all apart of the 3ds family because they still use the same firmware or software/parts as the parent (3DS). 2. You missed out 2ds and 2ds XL :P

The 'New 3DS' had amazing 3D, much more usable than the original. The face tracking makes it an actual 3D screen. I still play on it daily, I'll never retire it 😔✊
The DS family is, and will always be my favorite line of consoles ever. 4 generations of Pokémon, a myriad of great Mario games and the entirety of the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney franchises among many others, made for countless hours of playtime. Not to mention that I could bring the consoles anywhere I went. They really felt like a loyal companion. I don't hate the Switch, but I have to say that no matter how impressive it's functions and game library might be, if they don't fix the console's complete lack of character, I'll never learn to love it the same way I did the 3DS. I still remember how disappointed I was when I first turned on the console, and was greeted with...complete silence. No background, no ambient music, nothing. I tried the eShop, same story. Though I do agree that focusing on the functionality of the console is obviously the main priority, the little touches like the famous startup noises of the Gamecube and Gameboy for example, are the things that will ultimately stick to people's minds. I really would have expected to get these problems fixed by now. I mean, even the 3DS introduced the theme shop after, what, 3 years after it's release? I know a lot of people disagree with me. That's fine. It's not like I'm trying to force my selfish, nostalgia-smeared opinions upon others. But do me a favor and look up the original 3DS eShop music, or boot up your old Wii or even the PS4. Then grab your Switch. Can you look at the home menu, or the eShop menu, and tell me with a straight face that there isn't something missing? Anyway, rest in peace, my precious 3DS. Hopefully I can still preserve you for many years to come (despite your beyond awful data transfer system...).
Even if that’s the case, by incorporating background music, or themes is adding attention to detail. Maybe for some not having that is not a game changer, but no one will disagree that it would bother them if those features are added to the switch, it doesn’t take away from what the switch can do, it adds more to the over all user experience.
I had a DS when i was around 5 years old. It was a blast. An absolute true lifetime. But things changed when it broke. I could not play with it anymore. It was the end of joy for me. That just teaches you people can't have happiness.

I'll always cherish this era. Tomodachi Life is the reason I even have most of the characters and creations I do nowadays, and I'm not even kidding. Miitopia, Pokemon Moon, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon... So many great games, man. Wonderful video, man. And thanks for the clean upload of Quiet Water all those years back.
You could say the 3DS literally saved Nintendo during the WiiU era. They struggled through it’s darkest ages in years. I love my 3DS, it’s been replaced by my switch, but it’s sitting on my shelf anyways. I occasionally open up to mods chi life and feel bad that I didn’t visit them in months.
Yeah, but if they weren't so busy rushing games like Mario Kart 7 out to save the 3DS, then there would have probably been more development time to make good games for the Wii U.
QuiB Quiberton The WiiU’s concept itself was flawed. It wasn’t the games that made it fail, in fact, it had few of the best games Nintendo every made. It was the lack of 3rd party support and no major differences from the Wii that made it different. In fact, as the 3DS and the WiiU was closely tied together, people with the 3DS are more likely to buy the WiiU.
@@AntsAntsAndAnts The 3DS also had shit for 3rd party support, until Nintendo decided to release some games for it. Clearly, the 3D concept of the 3DS wasn't enough either, or there would have been more early adopters. The 3DS floundered early on, and the Wii U failed, because of a lack of compelling games. Some people may like games like Mario 3D World or Pikmin 3, but those games won't sell systems like BotW or Mario Odyssey or Animal Crossing or Pokemon.
QuiB Quiberton Mind you, the WiiU’s a home console and the 3DS is a portable. In the portable market, Nintendo’s really your only choice. Home console market? Not so much. There’s much more factors here than just games, console and concept. The Home console market was fierce, the Xbox 1 and PlayStation4, who were clearly more powerful than the WiiU, and had much more diverse games. The 3DS... had PlayStation Vita.. not much of a competitor.
I use my New 2ds XL as much as my switch since it's modded to hell with loads of nes games, I'm currently playing an emerald romhack called theta emerald renev.

I “grew up” with the DS and the concept of a dual screen was an amazing idea for me, playing DS feels like a completely different experience than other consoles. having a console with two screens has tons of potential and I think that’s great.
DS was early 2000's kids childhood and 3DS was early 2010's kids childhood, and now they all ended. **RIP Childhood** Please make the 2020's childhood something else than TikTok and those new damn DLC-full mobile games.
I remember getting the 3DS when i was 5. Played many games, made me the gamer I am today. I am 13, i no longer have it because I gave it to my cousin with my Pokemon Ultra Moon. I miss you 3DS, not even the Nintendo Switch could replace you in my heart. I also had loads of fun with my WiiU which broke due to overuse. I also had to sell my Ps4 when i moved overseas.
When I get save up enough money, I'm buying myself another 3ds. I loved playing on it at school, but it was sad to see it go in the trash when it wouldn't work anymore.
@Isaac Wolf you said not including 3d games, not not including 3ds games. there are tons of 2d 3ds games, and i don't just mean games that play in 2d, there are even games that don't support the 3ds' 3d so yeah you uh didn't communicate what you meant very well
The 1st 3ds I got I will always remember. It was a red 3ds. Me and my dad went to a local Fries often to look at games and hardware, and every time we did we would play a key machine game. There was always the same 3ds there, and every time that's what we tried to get. Eventually, after I think 6 months of trying, we finally won it. I was so happy and it was one of the best moments of my entire life. I will miss the 3ds, and the amazing memories it gave me. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
True story. I *only* bought one to play A Link Between Worlds.. but slowly.. (but very surely) I naturally fell in love with the entire device as a whole. Little by little it snuck in my heart and I absolutely LOOOVED the 3ds. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. 🙏🏾
It may be discontinued my Nintendo but the enjoyment with each games will always continue. Still in college but I when this lockdown age restriction is over going to hunt for games that I still haven't played on the 3DS. Luckily in this country the price is still the same from the US. Availability is the hard part. Current games: SSB4, KH3D, MH4U, Mario Kart 7, Soul Hackers, and 3 Prof. layton games. Update 1: Got TWEWY and MGS 3 3DS. Plan to save up for FE:SoV, SMT IV, and SMT:SJR
@@JOCoStudio1 The tough part is half of them are hard to find them now let alone a physical copy. DS there are a lot to play from. Normally emulator is the 2nd choice but kind of a collector.
@@samnosce1080 always kinda mad how dubious emulation becomes the easiest way to access a game just a few years after production stops. Seems a shame that they couldn't release an eshop version of everything as a second option, but that's licensing for you. Of course, that doesn't compare to the physical copy, but still.

I got the first wave 3ds for America and boy has it served me well in it's life span it's slowly starting to permanently die though I still have my 25th anniversary smb red dsi xl I just can't play all of my Pokemon games that's like all the 3ds games I have is just pokemon
Fangz with a Z yeah. While I do enjoy star allies, coming after robobot it was a massive disappointment and even after the updates I still think the 3ds games are drastically better.

You made nostalgia hit. Hard. I've been recommended a lot of nintendo-related videos lately, because i downloaded a switch emulator on my pc and a ds one on my phone to play Pokémon Shield and Pokémon White. Coming back to a pokémon game, thing that I had not done since the release of Ultra-sun when I still had my 3DS, hit real hard. Now hearing you talking about the DS and all of that really hurt. I miss my first ever 3DS game, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. I miss the time it took me to complete the game, all the time I took finding legendaries and exchanging with people online. Now seeing that the last 3 pokémon games released (not including Lets Go, didn't play that one) took me 3 days to finish while Alpha took me a month at least. I miss the feeling of finishing a game and having my rival from the beginning telling le how far we've come. It didnt do that in Shield, I felt no particular thing when I won my last battle against Hop. Even with 2 DLC's, i'd hardly find myself playing more that 70-100 hours when i had 2 Alpha Sapphire saves of 500 hours. Its... Weird. My comment is weird and unstructured, I really just wanted to let go of all this... I shouldn't have sold my game...
The 3ds.... How do I even explain the love I have for you. It was so much fun playing omega ruby for thousands of hours, one hundred percenting mario 3d land, making mii's, and so much more. I will always love you flaws and all so to you I say thanks my old friend for all that you have given me.
Currently playing through all the 3DS Fire Emblem games for the first time Just finished Awakening, I’m playing conquest now and boy this system is good
It's amazing to see this handheld bring so many people together back then and even today. I played 2 3DS' and a 2DS till they all broke. I have 3DS XL now and it works just fine, but the memories from the other ones never left. I remember my first gaming experience on the 3DS was 3D Land. I beat it, but I could never get everything. I eventually bought a physical copy at a Target a few years later when I had my XL. I had the time of my life reliving the old memories, and finally completing the game. I will never forget this console. It truly helped defined an era worth experiencing.
a lot of the games on the system were amazing, but the system itself had poor marketing with a lame gimmick. now those games get a chance to shine on a console that people actually own
I'll never forget 7 year old me playing pokemon alpha sapphire for the first time. Back when life was simple and pokemon was my "passion". Still play through that game time to time, I love it.
It also feels like the true end to handheld gaming as well. Yea the switch let's you play on the go but It feels different as it's basically playing console level games on the go where as with the 3ds, Ds, Gameboy, Psp, Vita, and etc those where strictly handheld only.
The end of the 3DS and pure handhelds as a whole also feels like the end of an era. Sure the Switch Lite is fairly portable, but the 3DS is the final pocket platform in the industry. It’s an absolute shame not to have a console that goes with me. My Switch never leaves its dock unless I’m specifically going on a vacation, and it wouldn’t be any different if my Switch was a Switch Lite, as my dad has a Lite and it’s still less pocket-friendly than even a DSi XL/3DS XL/New3DS XL/New2DS XL... Ultimately, my Switch is more of a console and I can only hope the next-generation Nintendo platform can be a hybrid like the Switch. But I’ll never stop missing the amazing pocket experiences the 3DS brought like Nintendogs + cats, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Smash 4, and especially Kid Icarus Uprising, as the Switch just isn’t as portable and bite-sized game types are meant for bite-sized platforms. I want another Nintendogs so badly, but I know the Switch just isn’t an appropriate platform for the series...
@@TurboPikachu I don't quite get this. I just got a small laptop bag for 20 bucks and use it for my water bottles and switch. And that's after graduating, I could have put it in my school bag earlier. If I drove to work it would fit in my car.
@@theloyalwraiths8827 I don't live with a bag any more ever since graduating from college. The Switch was in my bag for my last two years of college, but since then, only the 3DS has really gone places with me while the Switch only comes along on vacations where I'm already bringing my backpack anyways for my laptop and iPad. Buying another product isn't my issue. It's that keeping my Switch in a bag/pouch as I go to work means it's baking in my car because the lockers at my workplace are communal (each one being shared between multiple people). The 3DS was the final platform that can comfortably reside in a pocket, and its a shame that, for my lifestyle, my split of handheld/home-console gaming has fallen from 50/50 to 10/90 since late 2018. A new pocket console is what I need.
My problem with the Switch's features, is that no game can fully utilize them, and it's by design. Since the main gimmick of the system, is that it's both a home console and a handheld, Nintendo won't make a game that uses a feature that's not usable in either modes. There won't be a game that 100% uses motion controls, since then it's hardly usable in handheld mode and there won't be a game that uses 100% touch controls, cause that's not usable in TV mode.
I don't think that is entirely correct. I think motion controls are still used quite a lot. I do agree that it feels like touch controls are not being used, but the motion controls have plenty of games directed in that direction, along with HD rumble. Maybe not enough though.
But with tweaking it allows for mobile and TV ports of games never thought possible. I can play Mario Galaxy on the go with touch controls or on the TV with gyro controls and both feel extremely intuitive.
I probably wouldn't have minded if they had scrapped a lot of the features present in the joycons so that they could be a bit cheaper. About the only thing i'd really keep is the gyro aiming because splatoon but a lot of features in the thing feel like they were designing for something that probably might take them another 5 years to finally get to.
I honestly dont like the switch due to the fact that Nintendo didn't make the joysticks good enough. and by that i mean that you press the joystick very hard, you're gonna have to buy a new one
Pretty much, I feel like their morale took a hit with Iwata's death. Could be why Reggie resigned as well. I've also suspected Miyamoto has quietly stepped away from things but who knows.

the 3ds will always be my favorite Nintendo product of all time, it was powerful yet small and extremely customizable. It was a wonderful thing that could connect people all around the world. rip 3ds family.
The 3DS is still my favorite console of all time, with my favorite video game on it as well (Kid Icarus Uprising). I love everything about it, the games, the music, the features, and the memories. I like the Switch as well, but it doesn't have as much personality as the 3DS does for me. Fly sky high, 3DS. You were truly the best, for me at least. I will never forget you 💖
Unfortunately, I don't think that's ever gonna happen... Nintendo stated that they wanted to have their main focus on games, and not social platforms. Sense Miiverse was a social platform, they shut it down. It's a damn shame, too... I loved Miiverse...
Playing Monster Hunter and Kid Icarus Uprising with the 3d was a stunning experience, when Pokémon never even tried anything with the 3d it was a serious downer for me.
You have to have your eyes and the console at a certain angle, and because of that, you can't move or tilt your head much. It's not very comfortable, at least for me.

The only consoles I’ve ever had was the psp and ps vita. But now my psp is no longer with me only ps vita.

In my case my 3Ds and my friend's PSVita were stolen at my school together with a bunch of others random objects from several "rich" students, No one has ever found the culprit.
All the school could do was to warn parents that they would not be responsible for any losses at school, whether electronic or not.
It only had 2 months of use. 😞 I miss It a Lot.
Finna fix up my 3ds the top screen got that black ink stuff so finna replace top screen and play some throw backs
My sister lost my 3DS this year too and it held a bunch of my childhood memories as well. Gonna cry forever now. I bought a 2DS xl this year but the 3DS was special...
My biggest gripe about the switch in general, is that there aren't many games that use Miis, and there are no games that center around them like there were on the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS.
I had a good time with games like Tomodachi Life and Miitopia, I just wish Nintendo made a game like those on the Switch.

I just bought a New 2ds xl cause I never played a 3ds system before, and I must say, I am enjoying it a lot! Not only can I play the games of my childhood on the DS, but I can also play “new” games for the 3ds and 3ds xl! I love this console.
At November 2021 they should make 3 mii games that are based off the others since it’s 15 years since miis were released, we should have a miitopia 2, tomodachi life 3 (tomodachi life was actually the second), and a sports game focusing on miis. And if Nintendo wanted to they could make a Wii Party U Deluxe.

When Nintendo was doing bad the 3ds handhelds raised Nintendo up while the wii u was doing bad and it was a truly amazing system.
I honestly I'm so sad to see this console go.
While I believe the 3d was kinda a gimmick I enjoyed playing Mario kart 7 and smash bros 4.
It also was really accessible for people who couldn't avoid 300 and 400 dollar consoles.

What’s funny Is that Wii U’s failure end up contributing to creating one of the best consoles to date, the Switch, in a way you could say that Wii U was a prototype
I honestly don’t know how the Wii U failed, it had outstanding games, I guess it was because of the game pad making the console more expensive then it needed to be.
Portalcrafter Productions from what I read it’s because it had a weak catalog, it had some gems here and there, but not enough, and due to the nature of the console it was hard to support third party titles, making it hard to compete with the other consoles
@@Portalcrafter Mostly because when it was announced Nintendo wasn't very clear on the weither or not it was a new console or an addon/new version of the Wii, the name (adding a U to Wii ofc) didn't help either, I remember at the time I and many people were wondering about what it really was
And yeah also the weak catalog at launch, it had a lot of games that already were on other consoles for months, sometimes a full year (AC3, ME3, Arkham City) and one of its big exclusives, ZombiU, wasn't really too hot

Honestly, my favorite innovation with the 3DS has to be Streetpass.
I mostly played the 3DS in a time where being a Nintendo fan wasn't easy. So meeting hundreds of other people enjoying the same system and games was truly a delight
(Also the streetpass mii park games where bloody fun.)
I still actively use it, but very rarely meet anyone. A shame, since I only need a few more puzzle pieces to complete them all.
over the years ive managed to get 1000 miis in my plaza. I still take my 3ds on the go and also rarely meet anyone. Today I met some mii in costco lol. But its only a matter of time for nintendo to discontinue mii plaza too :(

The 'New 3DS' had amazing 3D, much more usable than the original. The face tracking makes it an actual 3D screen. I still play on it daily, I'll never retire it 😔✊

The DS family is, and will always be my favorite line of consoles ever. 4 generations of Pokémon, a myriad of great Mario games and the entirety of the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney franchises among many others, made for countless hours of playtime. Not to mention that I could bring the consoles anywhere I went. They really felt like a loyal companion.
I don't hate the Switch, but I have to say that no matter how impressive it's functions and game library might be, if they don't fix the console's complete lack of character, I'll never learn to love it the same way I did the 3DS. I still remember how disappointed I was when I first turned on the console, and was greeted with...complete silence. No background, no ambient music, nothing. I tried the eShop, same story. Though I do agree that focusing on the functionality of the console is obviously the main priority, the little touches like the famous startup noises of the Gamecube and Gameboy for example, are the things that will ultimately stick to people's minds. I really would have expected to get these problems fixed by now. I mean, even the 3DS introduced the theme shop after, what, 3 years after it's release?
I know a lot of people disagree with me. That's fine. It's not like I'm trying to force my selfish, nostalgia-smeared opinions upon others. But do me a favor and look up the original 3DS eShop music, or boot up your old Wii or even the PS4. Then grab your Switch. Can you look at the home menu, or the eShop menu, and tell me with a straight face that there isn't something missing?
Anyway, rest in peace, my precious 3DS. Hopefully I can still preserve you for many years to come (despite your beyond awful data transfer system...).

Even if that’s the case, by incorporating background music, or themes is adding attention to detail.
Maybe for some not having that is not a game changer, but no one will disagree that it would bother them if those features are added to the switch, it doesn’t take away from what the switch can do, it adds more to the over all user experience.
I had a DS when i was around 5 years old. It was a blast. An absolute true lifetime. But things changed when it broke. I could not play with it anymore. It was the end of joy for me. That just teaches you people can't have happiness.

I'll always cherish this era. Tomodachi Life is the reason I even have most of the characters and creations I do nowadays, and I'm not even kidding. Miitopia, Pokemon Moon, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon... So many great games, man.

You could say the 3DS literally saved Nintendo during the WiiU era. They struggled through it’s darkest ages in years. I love my 3DS, it’s been replaced by my switch, but it’s sitting on my shelf anyways. I occasionally open up to mods chi life and feel bad that I didn’t visit them in months.
Yeah, but if they weren't so busy rushing games like Mario Kart 7 out to save the 3DS, then there would have probably been more development time to make good games for the Wii U.

The WiiU’s concept itself was flawed. It wasn’t the games that made it fail, in fact, it had few of the best games Nintendo every made. It was the lack of 3rd party support and no major differences from the Wii that made it different. In fact, as the 3DS and the WiiU was closely tied together, people with the 3DS are more likely to buy the WiiU.
@@AntsAntsAndAnts The 3DS also had shit for 3rd party support, until Nintendo decided to release some games for it. Clearly, the 3D concept of the 3DS wasn't enough either, or there would have been more early adopters.
The 3DS floundered early on, and the Wii U failed, because of a lack of compelling games. Some people may like games like Mario 3D World or Pikmin 3, but those games won't sell systems like BotW or Mario Odyssey or Animal Crossing or Pokemon.

Mind you, the WiiU’s a home console and the 3DS is a portable. In the portable market, Nintendo’s really your only choice. Home console market? Not so much.
There’s much more factors here than just games, console and concept. The Home console market was fierce, the Xbox 1 and PlayStation4, who were clearly more powerful than the WiiU, and had much more diverse games.
The 3DS... had PlayStation Vita.. not much of a competitor.
I use my New 2ds XL as much as my switch since it's modded to hell with loads of nes games, I'm currently playing an emerald romhack called theta emerald renev.
Still remember when I chose to get my 3DS from Walmart on March 27, 2011 instead of a new pair of glasses. 😭😭😭 Such good times on that thing!
I got my Nintendo 3ds(Flame Red) along with "Mario Kart 7" & "Super Mario 3d land" on Sunday December 25th, 2011 and I still own it to this day.

I “grew up” with the DS and the concept of a dual screen was an amazing idea for me, playing DS feels like a completely different experience than other consoles. having a console with two screens has tons of potential and I think that’s great.

I remember getting the 3DS when i was 5. Played many games, made me the gamer I am today. I am 13, i no longer have it because I gave it to my cousin with my Pokemon Ultra Moon. I miss you 3DS, not even the Nintendo Switch could replace you in my heart. I also had loads of fun with my WiiU which broke due to overuse. I also had to sell my Ps4 when i moved overseas.
When I get save up enough money, I'm buying myself another 3ds. I loved playing on it at school, but it was sad to see it go in the trash when it wouldn't work anymore.

The 1st 3ds I got I will always remember. It was a red 3ds. Me and my dad went to a local Fries often to look at games and hardware, and every time we did we would play a key machine game. There was always the same 3ds there, and every time that's what we tried to get. Eventually, after I think 6 months of trying, we finally won it. I was so happy and it was one of the best moments of my entire life. I will miss the 3ds, and the amazing memories it gave me. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

It may be discontinued my Nintendo but the enjoyment with each games will always continue.
Still in college but I when this lockdown age restriction is over going to hunt for games that I still haven't played on the 3DS. Luckily in this country the price is still the same from the US. Availability is the hard part.
Current games: SSB4, KH3D, MH4U, Mario Kart 7, Soul Hackers, and 3 Prof. layton games.
Update 1: Got TWEWY and MGS 3 3DS. Plan to save up for FE:SoV, SMT IV, and SMT:SJR
It's when you open up to the old DS game catalogue too that you'll realise you'll never play them all.
@@JOCoStudio1 The tough part is half of them are hard to find them now let alone a physical copy. DS there are a lot to play from. Normally emulator is the 2nd choice but kind of a collector.

Seems a shame that they couldn't release an eshop version of everything as a second option, but that's licensing for you. Of course, that doesn't compare to the physical copy, but still.

You made nostalgia hit. Hard. I've been recommended a lot of nintendo-related videos lately, because i downloaded a switch emulator on my pc and a ds one on my phone to play Pokémon Shield and Pokémon White. Coming back to a pokémon game, thing that I had not done since the release of Ultra-sun when I still had my 3DS, hit real hard. Now hearing you talking about the DS and all of that really hurt. I miss my first ever 3DS game, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. I miss the time it took me to complete the game, all the time I took finding legendaries and exchanging with people online. Now seeing that the last 3 pokémon games released (not including Lets Go, didn't play that one) took me 3 days to finish while Alpha took me a month at least. I miss the feeling of finishing a game and having my rival from the beginning telling le how far we've come. It didnt do that in Shield, I felt no particular thing when I won my last battle against Hop. Even with 2 DLC's, i'd hardly find myself playing more that 70-100 hours when i had 2 Alpha Sapphire saves of 500 hours. Its... Weird. My comment is weird and unstructured, I really just wanted to let go of all this... I shouldn't have sold my game...
The Wii U was my first non-portable console, and I really loved it. It had really awesome games and backwards compatibility with Wii games.

I really miss the DS/3DS/Wii/Wii U era. I actually bought a New 2DS XL just a few weeks before the 3DS family was discontinued
It's amazing to see this handheld bring so many people together back then and even today. I played 2 3DS' and a 2DS till they all broke. I have 3DS XL now and it works just fine, but the memories from the other ones never left. I remember my first gaming experience on the 3DS was 3D Land. I beat it, but I could never get everything. I eventually bought a physical copy at a Target a few years later when I had my XL. I had the time of my life reliving the old memories, and finally completing the game. I will never forget this console. It truly helped defined an era worth experiencing.

A systems game.. sn the system is dif. And it wasnt necessarily bad. It was just not a popular gimmick
I have so many fond memories from the Wii U... but Nintendo did an awful job with advertising it. It was also an underpowered system.
a lot of the games on the system were amazing, but the system itself had poor marketing with a lame gimmick. now those games get a chance to shine on a console that people actually own

I'll never forget 7 year old me playing pokemon alpha sapphire for the first time. Back when life was simple and pokemon was my "passion". Still play through that game time to time, I love it.
This is the console that got me into gaming, but soon l'l finally reunited with my OG black 3ds..

It also feels like the true end to handheld gaming as well. Yea the switch let's you play on the go but It feels different as it's basically playing console level games on the go where as with the 3ds, Ds, Gameboy, Psp, Vita, and etc those where strictly handheld only.
The end of the 3DS and pure handhelds as a whole also feels like the end of an era. Sure the Switch Lite is fairly portable, but the 3DS is the final pocket platform in the industry. It’s an absolute shame not to have a console that goes with me. My Switch never leaves its dock unless I’m specifically going on a vacation, and it wouldn’t be any different if my Switch was a Switch Lite, as my dad has a Lite and it’s still less pocket-friendly than even a DSi XL/3DS XL/New3DS XL/New2DS XL... Ultimately, my Switch is more of a console and I can only hope the next-generation Nintendo platform can be a hybrid like the Switch. But I’ll never stop missing the amazing pocket experiences the 3DS brought like Nintendogs + cats, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Smash 4, and especially Kid Icarus Uprising, as the Switch just isn’t as portable and bite-sized game types are meant for bite-sized platforms. I want another Nintendogs so badly, but I know the Switch just isn’t an appropriate platform for the series...
@@TurboPikachu I don't quite get this. I just got a small laptop bag for 20 bucks and use it for my water bottles and switch. And that's after graduating, I could have put it in my school bag earlier. If I drove to work it would fit in my car.
@@theloyalwraiths8827 I don't live with a bag any more ever since graduating from college. The Switch was in my bag for my last two years of college, but since then, only the 3DS has really gone places with me while the Switch only comes along on vacations where I'm already bringing my backpack anyways for my laptop and iPad.
Buying another product isn't my issue. It's that keeping my Switch in a bag/pouch as I go to work means it's baking in my car because the lockers at my workplace are communal (each one being shared between multiple people). The 3DS was the final platform that can comfortably reside in a pocket, and its a shame that, for my lifestyle, my split of handheld/home-console gaming has fallen from 50/50 to 10/90 since late 2018.
A new pocket console is what I need.

My problem with the Switch's features, is that no game can fully utilize them, and it's by design. Since the main gimmick of the system, is that it's both a home console and a handheld, Nintendo won't make a game that uses a feature that's not usable in either modes. There won't be a game that 100% uses motion controls, since then it's hardly usable in handheld mode and there won't be a game that uses 100% touch controls, cause that's not usable in TV mode.
I don't think that is entirely correct. I think motion controls are still used quite a lot. I do agree that it feels like touch controls are not being used, but the motion controls have plenty of games directed in that direction, along with HD rumble. Maybe not enough though.
But with tweaking it allows for mobile and TV ports of games never thought possible. I can play Mario Galaxy on the go with touch controls or on the TV with gyro controls and both feel extremely intuitive.
I probably wouldn't have minded if they had scrapped a lot of the features present in the joycons so that they could be a bit cheaper. About the only thing i'd really keep is the gyro aiming because splatoon but a lot of features in the thing feel like they were designing for something that probably might take them another 5 years to finally get to.
@@megasoniczxx Well, that's kinda what the lite's for. Although it certainly doesn't solve for games that do happen to use any of the joycon features.
I honestly dont like the switch due to the fact that Nintendo didn't make the joysticks good enough. and by that i mean that you press the joystick very hard, you're gonna have to buy a new one

Pretty much, I feel like their morale took a hit with Iwata's death. Could be why Reggie resigned as well. I've also suspected Miyamoto has quietly stepped away from things but who knows.

the 3ds will always be my favorite Nintendo product of all time, it was powerful yet small and extremely customizable. It was a wonderful thing that could connect people all around the world. rip 3ds family.

The 3DS is still my favorite console of all time, with my favorite video game on it as well (Kid Icarus Uprising). I love everything about it, the games, the music, the features, and the memories. I like the Switch as well, but it doesn't have as much personality as the 3DS does for me.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's ever gonna happen... Nintendo stated that they wanted to have their main focus on games, and not social platforms. Sense Miiverse was a social platform, they shut it down. It's a damn shame, too... I loved Miiverse...

Playing Monster Hunter and Kid Icarus Uprising with the 3d was a stunning experience, when Pokémon never even tried anything with the 3d it was a serious downer for me.
Gave me a bit of a headache, I also just found it unappealing to me in general
I don't use it often, but when I do, I really enjoy it.
You have to have your eyes and the console at a certain angle, and because of that, you can't move or tilt your head much. It's not very comfortable, at least for me.
Memories are the reason why we have big things in life.
