You should get in touch with Arlo I mean he would love to talk about this and he has a bigger platform I also think the message could reach Nintendo's ear's if you get someone bigger to talk about this stuff. And yes I did read this comment but you posting this means you most likely agree with the video itself.
for as many times I keep seeing this quote tossed around in these situations it never stops being so right i grew up with Nintendo but I swear would it kill then to just be halfway decent to people
In most cases yes, but a lot of pirates are people living in less fortunate areas (which is completely understandable), and people who are just greedy and don't care (which is just scummy)
I'll never understand how people are totally fine with game-services shutting down when it costs Nintendo literal pennies to keep them running indefinitely.
@@Wheagg "if there's only 300 players" Servers are getting less costly and more efficient by the year so I highly doubt that statement. Since most people switched over to the latest Nintendo systems anyway there's even less reason to not keep the old services running, since the playerbase is accordingly smaller and needs less resources.
To quote Dunkey - Nintendo. They don't understand marketing, they don't understand how to run a business, but they do understand how to make video games.
Nintendo: Downloading ROMs hurt us, so we will take legal meashures to prevent you from doing so, even if that meand you won't experience our old and less popular games. Also Nintendo: We'll add timeframes and make it harder for you to play our games the legal way. It almost as if Nintendo wants their games to end up as abandonware
Nintendo wants to keep their games in their vaults and limit access to them so that they can keep rereleasing the same games over and over again. Why should I buy a nintendo virtual console game if the roms are easily accessible? That's why Nintendo takes a hammer to rom sites like Emuparadise. It makes their old games more exclusive when they finally rerelease them- especially if they put a limited time frame on them to buy them.
@@themarshmalloreo3929 how is more exclusive if they normally rerelease them? month later edit: Ok I guess what you mean is with them taking down emulation sites...which yeah can be annoying. Although if it's piracy? I get taking it down. Especially if there already distributing older games
Found this on an old page of their website: People Making Nintendo Emulators and Nintendo ROMs are Helping Publishers by Making Old Games Available that are No Longer Being Sold by the Copyright Owner. This Does Not Hurt Anyone and Allows Gamers to Play Old Favorites. What's the Problem? The problem is that it's illegal. Copyrights and trademarks of games are corporate assets. If these vintage titles are available far and wide, it undermines the value of this intellectual property and adversely affects the right owner. In addition, the assumption that the games involved are vintage or nostalgia games is incorrect. Nintendo is famous for bringing back to life its popular characters for its newer systems, for example, Mario and Donkey Kong have enjoyed their adventures on all Nintendo platforms, going from coin-op machines to our latest hardware platforms. As a copyright owner, and creator of such famous characters, only Nintendo has the right to benefit from such valuable assets.
@@Anis360-k5p I will say not every game has copyrighted roms though...which would make it easier...so not all online emulation is piracy. like with mother 3 here it seems...plus they surprisingly haven't taken down the fan translation after a decade
Wait... you can talk!? Seriously though, this was a nice little commentary about the Mario anniversary stuff and the whole manufactured scarcity Nintendo is doing for some reason.

That's exactly how I feel about Nintendo, I love so many of their games hut but honestly their choices as a company are simply terrible and almost abusive towards their consumers.
Sadly Nintendo is starting to take notes from the company that it does a lot of business with. And that company is Microsoft. Nintendo is learning from one of the most evil companies on earth. They are learning that greed is good, quality doesn't matter just get the money and worry later, and keep vital features like the Virtual Console, web browser, and personalization settings like avatars, chat, and wallpaper keep them out of gamer hands and keep artificially inflating demand by creating a limited run game then taking the money and getting even more down the line in DLC and online. No, you want to make Nintendo better? Get them away from Microsoft, EA and Activision and remember the consumer matters.
Nintendos been getting much more corporate and out of touch since Iwata died. He was probably the most moral man in the corporate world as a whole, and clearly he had a love for his consumers/audience even more so than we loved him which was definitely an extremely high bar. Personally, I think the years to come will decide whether the death of Satoru Iwata will be the death of Nintendo as a whole, and I pray they turn themselves around.
I'm not going to pretend like everything was perfect when Iwata was in charge, but it does feel like some of this stuff wouldn't have happened if he was still around. Iwata also might have been more honest about joycon drift and been more committed to giving people repairs and fixing the issue altogether.
@@BagaJr Things were by no means perfect, as you say. But Nintendo was a much better company morally and and in terms of consumer satisfaction. Ffs the man even cut his own really salary a shit ton as opposed to lay offs when the Wii U flubbed.
@@phoenixtrite5068 That's true. I also always forget Shuntaro Furukawa's name because he's been practically invisible to fans since he took over. All the announcements are handled by other people. It's concerning because it feels like a lack of passion, unlike Iwata who was always there for Directs and all the silly skits.
Last year, there was a fan game called “Mario Royale” that Nintendo ruthlessly took down after only a week of existing. The game was really fun. But that aside, I have no idea what “Mario 35” could be based off of. Nintendo wouldn’t shut down a fan game and then steal their idea to make their own game, right? RIGHT!?
Nah, they don't do this. Like, they shut down roms sites in order to prevent emulation, and then, it was confirmed that Mario 64 and Sunshine were running as emulated ports on Switch. But it is just a coincidence that they created a Mario Royale after shutting down a fanmade Mario Royale. Nothing strange to me.
@@molhosoja They took down Pixelmon then made Pokemon Quest a short time after. It's NOT a coincidence, they're stealing ideas from fans and they take their games away.
@@alemtotodile8128 I was being sarcastic btw. I know nintendo do this shit and act like nothing happened, even if it is something obvious. I didn't played pokémon uranium before it got shut down but the chances that nintendo "used one of those pokemons as reference" is big.
@Patrick Sedler I don’t know what you’re talking about saying Galaxy is mediocre, all 3 of them are great. But yeah the $60 price tag isn’t fair considering Crash and Spyro remakes were built from the ground up and cost $40.
I like Nintendo and their games but I feel as though it’s getting harder and harder to understand them and what they’re doing. It was difficult enough coming to grips that GameFreak and Pokemon company are bad and I don’t want to see Nintendo fall down the same path as them
As a business major in college, what they’re doing is FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), and even as the studying business student that I am, even I’m baffled and confused by the limited availability timeframe...
@@tylerwagner1978, what they're doing makes no sense from a profit standpoint. They know these three games have large followings among their players, and will naturally sell well due to nostalgia and a desire for an HD Switch port. I can't imagine basically limiting the amount of copies is all that smart.
They always drip feed their content. It creates a higher demand and intrinsically increases the value. This is why old nintendo games don't get cheaper. If anything they get more expensive. Twilight princess and skyward sword for the wii are both still $60 and not even in HD. Both are zelda games, nintendo's most successful and renound (behind mario ofc.) Both are older than the last of us. Playstations most successful series (debatable, but I'm pretty sure tlou2 sold more copies than any ps exclusive ever, so there's that.) Yet the last of us is available completely remasted in HD, for a grand total of $15. Again. Twilight princess, 2006, not even HD on the wii, $60. The last of us, 2013, remastered for ps4 in HD, $15. Tbh, nintendo may seem really self righteous for the way they present their games... but they've sort of earned it. The zelda and mario series are both over 30 years old, and every main entry of both series' hold up, and still somehow occasionally break the gaming community. Breath of the wild case and point. And to a lesser degree, Mario odyssey. Nintendo has one thing even the best playstation games don't. The nintendo polish. They excessively check their games for any problems, they pace them seamlessly, and they always start game developmemt with a new core mechanic, which is basically worked on to the point of perfection then implemented as the "gimmick". Then the rest of the game is built out from that. Usually it works out for them. But even when it doesn't... you'll never get the same idea sold to you twice with them. At the very least, each game introduces a completely original gameplay experience, and almost without fail it's going to be fun af. Even if you only play it once. That makes every purchase worth it to me. That's the mark of a company you can trust. They're the most innovative out there and you can't dispute that. That type of game making is so high risk for any company not willing to put the work into the polish such as nintendo, and especially when they don't have the reputation of nintendo to secure most people atleast trying it. So it's always a win win for me.
I just find it weird that at one point did a complete overhaul of mario 64 for the DS, but did minute differences for the 3D all stars versions and not even have the DS version of it.
THE NEWMAKER but they made the original with HD graphics, which wouldve been horrible on today’s screens. The same logic could apply for the DS version as well.
THE NEWMAKER the DS game actually managed to have more polygons and reworked graphics compared to the original. Sure it was made for a smaller screen, but you can also say that a lot of screens around the time of the N64 were smaller than tv’s compared to most today
Not quite, at least for me. There's one reason why: Nintendo doesn't buy other companies and destroy their product for their own gain. Before you say anything, yes, Nintendo did take down Mario Royale. However, being fair, Mario is their product. I don't like the decision, but it's a decision that I at least find fair. When you make a game using someone else's assets that they poured money and hard work into, it's fair for them to ask you to take it down. EA has destroyed several companies that had unique, and fun games (for example, Playfish) by buying the company who owns them and then canceling their games and redirecting you to play their games when you try to go back to those games.
The whole limited thing of this event is really stupid, like actually why, it's so dumb and it makes no sense Like people really want this, and sure you can still buy a physical version of the game a while after march, but it will be so much more expensive i don't understand why Nintendo is doing this
@Dominix J The PS5 will also be hard for people to get enough money to buy it while they need the money to support themselves. This is the Coronavirus! In this case, Sony needs to delay the system.
"Do what you want cause a pirate is free you are a pirate" Damn straight ill enjoy my Paper Mario TTYD on pc cause I cannot play it on the switch. Owned it since release if anyone complains
I sure as hell won't complain. If a company is making no effort to make the games you want to play available, it really is their fault if you have to pirate the game. I feel like I may have to do that in the future when I get into streaming.
They get mad if you use ROMs, but they don't even put these games on their online service.. If everyone is playing pirated games it's because Nintendo doesn't let us play them the legal way.
"Don't pirate our stuff" "Ok, then sell it to me" "No" I get that Nintendo has multiple teams that operate semi-independently, so the marketing and development teams may not interface with the legal team, but at the same time, when one of those teams does something fans don't like, it makes the whole company look bad. I don't care if people pirate games, especially games a company no longer profits off of. There are plenty of games I would pay for, but I'm not going to buy them secondhand because they are too expensive and it doesn't help the company at all.
@@MasterChief0522 what if you can get a game from a company that is older just fine? Like say with sony distributing older games. Would you still be fine with piracy?
All this, plus they took down a fan-made Mario Battle Royale that supported 100 players about a year ago only to later release a version that supports less players and is only available for a limited time. I've been a Nintendo fan my whole life but their recent decisions have me seriously questioning where my loyalties lie.
Nintendo is so incompetent nowadays, it's ridiculous. You need to try hard to fail in Marketing 101 like they did at 'Pokemon Direct'... and that's JUST ONE THING. JUST ONE!
Trey Atkins nobody denies that but that it’s legal=it’s the right choice is a logical fallacy. Not even from a moral standpoint, I think being supportive of fan content is beneficial, it’s the one thing that SEGA gets right.

This is honestly a scary video. People are so attached to the brand that they will easily forgive things like this. I saw it when Pokemon Sword and Shield released: People will just gloss over obvious, objective flaws because it says Pokemon on it, reinforcing the fact that developers, publishers etc. never have to put effort again in their products, be it quality wise or in other consumer friendly ways. Nintendo limiting the release of this collection is just another stamp on the ticket. People love Nintendo, they will buy it and not even see it as the issue that it clearly is, and Nintendo knows it.
I know I bought Mario 3D all stars instantly after school and now it’s not worth it I would rather play the Mario 64 port to pc because you can download a remake pack
I mean, at least Sword and Shield had some charming designs, but even still i could smell the burnout constantly wheezing from the game whenever i played it.
This is why emulation will never go away. They can shut down the emuparadises all they want, but there will always be torrents, there will always be small-time sites popping up in the far corners of the internet that you can grab ROMs off of. You'll always have users sharing ROMs over various file transfer sites, Discord, etc. No matter what, they cannot kill the ROM sharing community. Well, okay. There is one way. They could just make all the games reasonably obtainable without stupid loopholes, deadlines, limited availability, monthly fees, etc. Just one-time reasonable price per rom. All NES games should be $5, SNES games $8, N64, $12 and GC games $15. I'd probably eventually buy the whole library of games that I own in cartridge format or have played at one time or another. But no. They aren't smart enough to do that. So I'll continue emulating.
They basically did that with the SNES mini that came loaded with 20 or so games. I found one and bought it because it was around the time all the good stuff got removed from the ROM websites. Even with that, it was a very limited release. They'll probably do it again at some point
@@Propane_Acccessories I doubt they will, but even if the did.. the SNES mini has what, 20-30 games? Too bad there are over 700 and most of my favorites weren't even on the thing to begin with. Though you .... could..... jailbreak it and put your own SNES games on it, and there was more than enough room on the thing's storage device, but again, this required ROM files. Not much difference between doing that, and loading up BSNES on your PC. At least with the latter, you get more than 1 save state and you get other things like cheat engine (aka game genie) support.
@@Dhalin I feel that. I just got it because of the hundreds of snes games out there, it actually had almost all of my favorites. Just got lucky I suppose
@@Propane_Acccessories I'm a JRPG fan, and the SNES Mini only has 4 and leaves out.... a ton others. The system doesn't even have 10% of the games I own in cartridge format. I mean, they could have at least stuck a SNES cart reader on it or something, for those of us who have cartridges laying around with no decent way of playing the games on them. That's why you see retro gaming consoles popping up that can copy your cartridges to ROMs and play them.
The short answer: The company itself sucks, the games are cool. Edit: hey everyone, I just want to point out that someone in the replies said they made the 2d all stars was limited too, and this recent cause is making me call nintendo a bad company, I just want to say three things: 1. Yes this is 3 weeks late, I'm sorry. 2. While yes, I do understand the limited physical copies, but for nintendo to make the digital copy limited, too, is very stupid 3. I'm not calling nintendo anti-consumer for just this cause. They have done some really bad anti-consumer moves. Like the online mode, for instance. Now I know this issue has been grinded to the center of the earth, but I will say this, if I have to buy an extension to improve my online, and it's still shitty, and nintendo is showing no signs of even trying to improve the online system, while knowing people are still gonna buy the subscription anyway, is very greedy and inconsiderate.
@@coolbeans7z539 they also re-release old games over prized with no improvements (Pokémon mystery dungeon dx, a literal gba game for 60 bucks). They have a console like the switch for over 3 years and I can count the new triple A games with my 2 hands. If they keep this pace up the switch will have like 20 big games at the end of its lifespan and 50 more overpriced ports of old games. I would be pretty disappointed especially compared to other consoles that have way more big games to play. Nintendo always had less big titles but it's really getting ridiculous. They are wasting too much work on cheap overpriced ports instead of focusing on new big games that would make the switch worth having.

I went on a rant on Discord a little while back about Nintendo's re-releases - It's getting to be that time of the century where copyrights and such are starting to expire, and thus Nintendo will start to lose control on some of their older games in due time. I think they're actively re-releasing stuff to future-proof their catalog from copyright loss, and in the process keep a pretty strong grip on emulation policies - I used to use "Vizzed" as a ROM and emulation site for a while until they got Nintendo'd pretty hard. Now, I do imagine someone's gonna come at me with "Well what about all the other recent releases, hmm?" to which I answer that they just don't come off anywhere near as striving for control. The Crash and Spyro remakes, (my personal favorite) the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection (I forget what its price was on the Switch but on Steam it's $30 - that's for *6* games and a fair amount of bonus content on top of that), they feel like they were made with the fans in mind, like they add some really meaningful stuff to the original games. Nintendo's rereleases, not so much. (Btw just a mild tangent, Capcom's amazing about their PR about emulation and such, I have only ever seen them go down hard on *one* fan project - "Shanghai.exe", a mixture of their Battle Network series and ZUN's Touhou Project - and that was because the original developer had set up a Patreon for the project; they were mad about the monetization more than anything else. Some other people picked up the project from where he left, except without monetizing the project, and right now it's in almost a fully-complete state!)
how are nintendo's rereleases any different then other compilations? like if you mean there actual compilations aside from mario 3d all stars there was kirbyd ream colelction which had 6 games and extra content to. and were meaningful. if you mean rereleases of modern ports like wii u games? that's different. plus doesn't copyright last like almost a century?
@@Jdudec367 To answer: - The main issue right now is 3D All-Stars, their other rerelease compilations are alright, but Nintendo's been, off as of late. The very limited time window to go and buy the game is one of the things that's throwing me (and the dollars-per-game ratio is rather high, like the Rare Replay collection is 1:1 for $30; there was also an Uncharted collection for remasters of that series, and while that one _did_ start at 20:1 for $60 too, they eventually dropped it down to $20 overall). Plus, as I've stated, Nintendo's rather hard on people when it comes to copyrights. - I will give you some credit here, as copyrights typically hold up for as long as the author lives, then 70 years after they pass away, so it _can_ last over a century, so you're not wrong there.
@@DQBlizzard_ Yeah, but if you are going to shut down unofficial avenues, at least create a viable, legal one (without time limit). Nintendo only did half of that. They did it, but with a massive asterisk.
Nintendo for a while has been the gaming company that puts out pretty consistently nice content but does a lot of weird stuff. I agree with your points and I continue to be frustrated by joy con drift, which should've got fixed years ago. By this point, though, I see the gaming market as such a predatory place due to all the other publishers that even with what Nintendo is doing they still feel like the good guys. I'm praying they don't go the same route one of my other favorite gaming companies, Blizzard, did. I'd rather not watch my favorite IPs leap onto sawblades, flail about in sulphuric acid, get rolled over by a Chinese tank, then get blasted to bits by artillery yet again, thank you very much.
Nintendo are not good guys. If you have to compare them to companies that are even worse in order to make them stand out as "better", then they are clearly not good at all.
Nintendo isn't the good guy in any way now: -Crappy online blocked by a paywall -60$ WiiU ports. -Barely any new games since 2018 -Overpriced DLCs -DLC and season pass for ports of old games. -Worse graphics in the gamming market (Pokémon) - Barely no legacy content, they don't want you to play their old games if it isn't a 20$ port for a Nintendo 64 game.
paco ramon I don’t want to look like a Nintendo fanboy, but I need to comment on some of this things. -Barely any new games since 2018? What the hell are you talking about? 2018 was a bit of a dry year. But there have been more than enough games that have come since that year. -Nintendo doesn’t have the best graphics, but they have great style! BOTW, Mario Odyssey, and Smash are all gorgeous games! Pokémon looks terrible, yes. But that’s one game, and Nintendo didn’t even make Pokémon Sword and Shield. Game Freak makes Pokémon games. -Overpriced DLCs? Like what? The most expensive DLC I can think of is $20. And you actually get good content that FEELS like extra content. Like the Octo Expansion and BOTW. They’re one hundred times better with DLC than almost every other game company in existence. -What DLC or season passes are you referring to for ports of old games? And how are they bad? DLC isn’t inherently bad. It’s only bad when the main game is lacking and the expensive DLC is supposed to make up for that. Again, I don’t want to seem like a fanboy. I agree with your other points. The shitty online is outrageous and unacceptable, the ports are annoying and overpriced, and they’re so frustrating with how they treat their legacy content. They’re also annoying with how much they don’t listen to their fans, and how out of touch they are.
@@AlfredoPuente8 -every console has an online service -...so? How do you decide if they're overpriced? -again, what dlcs...? -that's because the switch is quite obviously a portable console that can connect to a tv. Of course it's not gonna look as good as a ps4. Also pokemon is made by gamefreak, and the game was clearly rushed. That has nothing to do with Nintendo itself, but with game freak and the deadlines tpc sets. -which most companies also don't have so i mean :/
Should not be limited time, it's literally free money. They put no effort into the collection so shouldn't have put effort into making it a limited release. If any other company did this they'd be flattened, but it's perfect Nintendo who everyone and their dog loves.
Nah, your thinking is backwards on this. The collection is very low effort as can easily be seen and I am certain it would have done much worse if it wasn't for a limited time (especially since there already is a much better fanmade SM64 port on the switch and people pirate SMS and SMG on dolphin). Therefore, they wanted a guaranteed way to make it sell which is the mind game that you will miss it out unless you buy it now.
90? I've seen them for 130 on ebay I'm legit really happy that stores near me are making a 1 per person rule, mainly cause it really doesn't benifit them in any huge way but only benifits the consumer
I don't get the problem. Go to their house and shoot them. Easy. Individuals like that have abused their gift of life. The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
My two guesses for their reasoning: 1. The idea of exclusive gimmick merchandise is a lot more popular in Japan than it is here. Hence weird stuff like Sega's mini Game Gear that looks like playing games on it is practically impossible. Fandom culture there is so, uh, "evolved" that people often lap this stuff up. 2. Nintendo *probably* have a new 3D Mario game in the works (I would guess Odyssey 2, though it's also possible they might be following up the 3D World series) and might be worried about these anniversary titles self-competing. Both are *BAD* excuses for the limited-time selling, don't get me wrong, but that's probably the why.
another thing to add is alot of info is curculating bout 64 games comming to switch online which has some lvl of creedence due to data mining and whatnot so i have a feeling this bundle is limited time purely for that reason??? also another rumour ive heard is this game collection is being used to test how wii games and 64 games can be ported as 64 used the MIPS architecture which was ditched for the reason of it was just utter garbage especially in comparison the titans of powerPC, x86 and arm (arm being the incumbent architecture) thus porting ive heard can be a real nightmare and as the community has proven emulation is not fun for the 64 as the customised use of MIPS makes the 64 inherently hard to work with if u dont have official hardware and to an extent software even nintendo i think has struggled as the 64 was a very powerful console for its time thus emulation is not great and direct ports are messy and time consuming, with the wii tho powerPC might be dead but it plays nicer with arm for a start so the issue lies in the control setup for the wii and how that would map to a vastly different console ie the price might be high but i think more has happened behind the scenes than we can see to get this to work so my honest opinion is the port of galaxy is a test for how well wii games will port to the switch and i guess future consoles, cos honestly i remember the atempt made with the ds on the wii u and i think they dont want to do that one again cos it wasnt the greatest in practice so i think really we who purchase are actually the ginniepigs for when they inevitably release these games as part of online later on XD
@@facebooktweeter4948 I wasn't talking about the 60$ price tag, I was talking about the limited time purchase. The 60$ price tag is _objectively_ steep (if you use Nintendo's most recent pricings for these games as reference, and even if you don't assume any price decay has happened since and don't make any discount for a bundle purchase ~40$ is the "fair" price) but I don't take major issue with it. The three games in the bundle are massive releases with a lot of content, and Mario 64 in particular is one of the most important games ever made, so charging a premium pricetag isn't out of the question IMO, much like how Nintendo take a while to decay their prices on new releases- It's a right they get to invoke because their release standards are usually so high.
DarthVaderReviews Nintendo games barley go on sale and all their titles that they release is always 60 dollars and they used to charge a lot for sm64.sunshine and galaxy so that’s why I think it could have been priced higher but the fact that it’s still 60 dollars for a lot of content is just surreal.
DarthVaderReviews but I mean even if u weren’t talking about the price tag,I think the price tag has something to do with the limited purchase as I said these games are important and loved by a lot of people and since it’s all gonna be in one package, they obviously couldn’t have made it permant digital.Like it was too good to be true since it’s Nintendo at the end of the day
I read somewhere that Nintendo listens to the fans and knows what they want. Its because nintendo knows they can get away with it. And get away with it they will. They're nintendo, come on. People will buy it. It will be a success.
That's sadly the way it works with this, they treat consumers and loyal fans like a pet on a leash as if they revolve completely around them, if we ever see remasters of fan favorites it will be unnecessarily glorified by nintendo as if it's something of a privilege to enjoy their products, they have a loyal fan base and they take advantage of that knowledge, it's unfair and they know that they won't be stood up too, look at indie developers giving us things like the Henry stickmin collection, knowing how they need their fan base just as much as they need them, rather than nintendo treating it's fans like a parasite feeding of of it rather then offering support and having that support feel one-sided.
*"People will buy it."* I won't. Boneheaded and narrow-minded decisions like this are what ruined the Wii U. The Wii U had potential, but they wasted it. Star Fox Zero could've been a success, but because of Nintendo's selfish tunnel vision when it comes to controls, it bombed horribly.
the nintendo switch actually could’ve been a cool console with potential, but guess it’s just an excuse for nintendo to reuse the same old games for $60
The reason I’m interested is because I have never played 64, I did play Sunshine and Galaxy at one point but it’s been several years since then and I need to replay them
Yeah, this is why I’ve started to lose hope in Nintendo. If they don’t change their act soon, Nintendo might end up in a situation where they have no choice but to admit to themselves that they royally screwed up, and not just a simple mama-mia.
Honestly, I think Nintendo has been getting kinda worse since 2017. I mean, the Switch is cool, and the games released on it are great, but the accessibility of their older games seems to be decreasing steadily, especially since older games cost so much for their original consoles now.

I love Nintendo and never see myself leaving them, but things like this and removing Pikmin 3 and Tropical Freeze from Wii U eshop, joycons having drift after just after a year of use in most cases, which is just past warranty, and the fact that lets be honest, their online service is sub par, but is still a subscription for peer to peer, not even server based multi-player. These things may make them lose me as a loyal customer someday if they don't get their act together. I have been loyal with this company my entire life, one of the 3 and a half people that owned a wii u, thought it was a great console, but things are changing.
The subscription thing people were just allowed to copy microsoft’s scammy trend that they started, nintendo just decided to follow in those ill advised but unpunishable footsteps. @@henrysmarthy286 That doesnt change the fact they removed it, plus Tropical Freeze is still not on the eshop. If there wasnt as much of an outrage over it, they wouldnt have brought it back. It is still an anti consumer move, them bringing it back, does not make it just.
They brought back pikmin to the eshop, but same. Nintendo used to be my heroes, but now I feel like they're in a downward spiral. They're just so scummy nowadays. Maybe i'm just a boomer, but they just don't make their games like they used to.
its dumb how they display it like a treat for old fans and a gateway to older games for new fans. Yet they limit its time, the older fans will obviously be eager to buy it straight away but any new fan wouldn't really care as much, leading to less newer fans being able to play

Nintendo has literally always been like this. They’ve been shutting down rom hacks of 10 year old games for over a decade now and I absolutely despise them for it. I’ve never seen a company as patent greedy as Nintendo
Nintendo used to be the frustrating company of “two steps forward, one step back,” but now it looks like they’re only taking one step forward and two steps back, while simultaneously becoming the modern Disney of the video game world, making extremely anti-consumer moves because they know they’re too big to fail. To be honest, I’m done with this. I’m just gonna save up for a PS5 or a good PC. I already own galaxy and galaxy 2 for Wii, and I wholeheartedly plan on emulating sunshine and 64 if I want to play them. I’ve already got dolphin running to play all of the other classics they don’t want me to play, sunshine is no different. As for 64, I’m sure it’s fairly easy to set up, plus I can access amazing hacks the community has made. It’s a much better deal than this whole collection. Nintendo’s job here was to do something more than that to justify a consumer choosing them over emulation and hacking, and they failed even more than I thought they would. I set my expectations at the ground floor of a 600 story building, and they decided to dig out 10 or 20 basements. If I have to play the game Nintendo wants me to just so I can play the video games they’re making, then I’m out. It was a good run, but this is the end for me unless they can make some good stuff (and actually allow people to buy and play it) and clean up their act. Good riddance.
Hey man I'd suggest you get the Mario 64 PC Port instead if emulating it, it's basically the same as the Switch port mentioned in the video but less limited. It's a really complicated process to actually get the game to work but the result is way better than emulation and there are plenty of tutorials out there, I'd imagine.
Pedro Lucas I just watched one video tutorial and was able to set it up fine. Just as much headache as anything else on PC gives me. The 60fps and widescreen really make the game feel great. Plus there's tons of other mods to improve the experience, like removing the draw distance for levels.
I agree. I’m upset because they took Mario Battle Royale, and I’m not even all that excited for botw2 or the new remake. I never even really liked those..
I'm gonna insert a meme here: Can we have Super Mario 3D All Stars? Mum/Mom: We have Super Mario 3D All Stars at home. At home: A Wii with the virtual console super mario 64, sunshine since gamecube games can run on wii, as well as both galaxies.

Yet they didnt even bother to add New Super Mario bros wii/wiiu, nor any of that sort that were on the handhelds, nor the ds version of M64. It's not about whether or not there was a galaxy 2 in it, its about the fact that they didn't even bother to add the other games in, sure they aren't the same kind of 3d, but they shouldve at least compensated with that to make it have that 60 dollar earning.
The scary part is that there are actually people that saw the announcement and made comments along the lines of "bruh this limited release is just gonna encourage piracy" or "bruh where's galaxy 2", and when they did there were some motherfuckers down there DEFENDING this practice. The limited time offer is something Blizzard does aswell with their WoW ingame shop. It forces people to buy the product now so they don't miss out on it. However limited time offer does not mean they can't take it up later again which is what they are going to do. It's a trick to get more people buying it now and not missing out on people buying it later at the same time. However people buying it sooner is better than later since they can use the money right now and due to inflation lowering the value of the money later. People Making Nintendo Emulators and Nintendo ROMs are Helping Publishers by Making Old Games Available that are No Longer Being Sold by the Copyright Owner.

@THE NEWMAKER Too much work for Nintendo clearly
THE NEWMAKER but they made the original with HD graphics, which wouldve been horrible on today’s screens. The same logic could apply for the DS version as well.
THE NEWMAKER the DS game actually managed to have more polygons and reworked graphics compared to the original. Sure it was made for a smaller screen, but you can also say that a lot of screens around the time of the N64 were smaller than tv’s compared to most today
Thats why it is 60$ its a collectors product. They know the value will only rise.

What's bold about that take?

Not quite, at least for me. There's one reason why:
Nintendo doesn't buy other companies and destroy their product for their own gain.

"Don't pirate our stuff"

I get that Nintendo has multiple teams that operate semi-independently, so the marketing and development teams may not interface with the legal team, but at the same time, when one of those teams does something fans don't like, it makes the whole company look bad.
I don't care if people pirate games, especially games a company no longer profits off of. There are plenty of games I would pay for, but I'm not going to buy them secondhand because they are too expensive and it doesn't help the company at all.

@@Propane_Acccessories I'm a JRPG fan, and the SNES Mini only has 4 and leaves out.... a ton others. The system doesn't even have 10% of the games I own in cartridge format. 2. While yes, I do understand the limited physical copies, but for nintendo to make the digital copy limited, too, is very stupid

"Now". Clearly you don't remember the Switch launch nearly 4 years ago.
@@Jdudec367 To answer:
- The main issue right now is 3D All-Stars, their other rerelease compilations are alright, but Nintendo's been, off as of late.

OGRsonic except the standard is different
My two guesses for their reasoning:

@@imojado7294 Its not that simple. On the switch, they would have to recode many games to show the controls of the joycons/pro controller.
*"People will buy it."*
I won't. Boneheaded and narrow-minded decisions like this are what ruined the Wii U. The Wii U had potential, but they wasted it. Star Fox Zero could've been a success, but because of Nintendo's selfish tunnel vision when it comes to controls, it bombed horribly.

It's a really complicated process to actually get the game to work but the result is way better than emulation and there are plenty of tutorials out there, I'd imagine.
emulation is epic
I wouldn't save up for a PS5 if I were you. Sony's been pretty screwy as well.
Pedro Lucas I just watched one video tutorial and was able to set it up fine. Just as much headache as anything else on PC gives me. The 60fps and widescreen really make the game feel great. Plus there's tons of other mods to improve the experience, like removing the draw distance for levels.
