She can choose, but I think she's naturally a bright girlish light voice, which doesn't have that mezzo-quality sound. Rihanna is best in contralto range but she's also a soprano. Cher is best inmezzo-soprano range, she's still a contralto. Kelly Rowland can support a C6, but she's still a mezzosoprano. Aretha in 60's could sing damn well c3's and was still a soprano. MikeJMCarey93 True her natural ease ends at C6 in live performances but she has more than enough supported C#6s & D6s live & in the studio throughout her career that out-way the VERY few unsupported ones.
RyderC Daniels I'm just talking about live. I don't think studio notes should be included as evidence of support imo. And I think there's more than very few. Especially since every time she sings 1+1 lately (MCWT onward) she's trying to go higher than a C6. Sometimes they come out very well, other times theyre strained, flat and lack support.
MikeJMCarey93 ya that is true, her D6s on the formation were mostly strained and some were even flat. Lol But in Bey's defense she was suffering from a bit of tonsillitis throughout the 2016 tour so it may have played a part in negatively affecting her notes above C6.
RyderC Daniels yea plus she's a mezzo so I definitely don't hold it against her, a C6 is already insanely high regardless of vocal fach. I expect as her voice matures into her 40's sixth octave notes will be harder.
does anyone know how she trained to support almost her entire range so much? i’m a beginning singer and i aspire to have even 10% of the technique she has.
No, a lot of the notes above D5/Eb5 are pushy and lack openness. The vowels in Bb4-D5 range are also not round tbh. She does have some less advanced form of resonance occasionally (I'd say it exists below D5 when she tries ) but it's not nearly as full of a coordination or as round as some of her peers. She is good but her belts aren't as impressive as her head voice.
@@eddyjacx5622 yeah I disappointed with her small sound in mid range tbh, her resonance is quite bright. Sometimes she went darker but end up being quite pushy
D5 and up she uses a predominantly heady mix to sing. Before that she uses a balanced mix of head voice and chest voice. It seems her range consistently is B2-F5-C6. I love her low notes and middle register. It seems she may not be too comfortable above C6. Nonetheless, for a mezzo to sing that high is amazing!
Bleu 1 "heady mix"?? Beyoncé doesn't get heady until she hits a G5 or a G#5. From D5-F#5 is mainly a balanced mix with sometimes more chest voice for a stylistic purposes
No she doesn’t support below C3. She has great execution of her Low notes below that like her B2s and Bb2s but they’re not fully supported and lack resonance. As for her belting her consistency in support ends at F5 and she has a few supported F#5s as well as shown in this video but she doesn’t support above that. She has only once supported a G#5 in mixed voice I but it was a very heady mix and many people consider in to be head voice. You’re correct about her supporting up to Eb6 in head voice though.
Great video! So her consistent support excluding head voice is C3-F5, but she's also supported F#5s. I'm confused about her consistent support in head voice. I know Eb6 isn't consistent even though she has supported some. Is her consistent support up to C6 or D6?
MIXANDMTCH Not really she has more than enough live c3/c#3 which are supported (Heaven Live). I do agree with f#5 being inconsistent she raises her larynx a bit
You're not supporting properly then. Because to achieve the feeling of support or grounded it has to do with your abdomen. Honestly I'd love to hear an example of your singing.
You're probably pushing too much air and pulling too much chest which is the wrong way. Try doing some tongue trill exercises and other vocal warm ups that help regulate breathiness. Don't opt for a mixed sound. You're just going to sound less powerful and relatively lose clarity
Low notes are too not clear. High notes are very clear such a princess voice or baby's voice when she's hitting her high notes it's feels like a singing baby.
Okay, I'm just leaving comments on all these videos. lol But I particularly want to comment on this one because some Beyonce fans can get a little carried away with her abilities. Ignoring the lower register part, I'm hearing: 3:32 slightly throaty Bb4, 3:54 two tense B4s, 4:05 she's pulling those C5s with a lot of chest, which isn't a bad thing, but when other vocalists who aren't named Beyonce use this approach, they are called "loud" and "not resonant" and "unable to coordinate their mixes" so I think we should look at everyone fairly, 4:51 tense D5, 4:57 tense D5, 5:05 is a very pushed D5 that's more tension than anything, the Eb5 at 5:08 isn't bad for a chesty approach, but again, it's not really mixed or balanced at all, so if we are looking at all vocalists fairly and by the same standards, the note could be much more open, 5:26 is tense, the E5 at 5:47 is tense, and the E5 at 5:49 is throaty. 5:55 is an E5 that is basically shouted, and so is the F5 at 6:00. I stopped watching there, but you get the picture. People need to stop acting like Beyonce is super-human because she's actually quite tense and quite pushy, though she does have some good moments, like the E5 at 5:38 that's nicely mixed, especially for a mezzo like her. The one at 5:43 is a little worse, but still okay. And just skipping in ahead to look at her head voice, the F#5/G5s around 7:25 are tense, and the support is pretty shallow. Her head voice has some really great moments until Bb5, and almost every note from Bb5 to the end is slightly tense/pushed from what I hear. The C6 where she's standing by Celine is very forced, so are a few notes after that. Anyways, I think you did a great job of getting these clips. Actually, I hadn't seen a lot of these head voice ones before! And the lower register ones were well-chosen, too. My only disagreement with you (maybe?) and certainly a large number of Beyonce fans is her supposed "perfect" technique, especially in the mixed/belting range of her voice. She's just too pushy here, and sometimes her technique isn't healthy at all. Of course she's a great vocalist, but I don't think we should treat her flaws with any less severity than we treat other people's. I know it's not fashionable to criticize Beyonce, but this just what I'm hearing.
KoreanMusicSubs you really need to delete this comment because everything you wrote was NOT even true. Throughout the entire video there was ZERO tension. The only thing Beyoncé was producing throughout his video was great breath support, resonance, clarity, & ease. She has never strained on anything below an F5, honestly did you even think before you wrote this??
There's definite tension throughout. I'm not saying they are all strained, just some of them are tense, and as she ascends in her range, she can get shouty. She can also be resonant. I'm just saying she is not as consistent as people make her out to be.
KoreanMusicSubs but she is consistent and has been for the past 20 years. Throughout her career she has been extremely consistent from C#3- F5- C6. She has also pitch perfect 98.8% of the time and has never had a bad vocal performance. She can get a bit shouty above F#5 I will admit but those are rare. Beyoncé has little to no technical issues when belting from C5-F5 & her head voice is second to none.
I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm just saying I don't hear it from this video, and I didn't hear it from her range video, either. She seems like a mezzo soprano with good but inconsistent technique. And to say she has never had a bad vocal performance is insane. Her "Star Spangled Banner" was a bad vocal performance, very pitchy and tense. And there are singers in pop music with better head voices. Off the top of my head, Sohyang and Maureen McGovern are better in this range, as is the Chinese vocalist Huang Qishan (though I believe all are sopranos).
Hi! Well I'm not going to argue with you about your thoughts on these notes (I'm not disagreeing nor agreeing tho), I think you're just being a little bit comparative, maybe? Every singer has stans, we all know that, right? We have people saying Mariah supports down to Bb2 and up to A5, we have people saying Whitney supported down to C3, we have people slaying Beyonce supports B2s and G5s, people saying Ariana supports Bb5s, and everybody. When it comes to vocal technique eveybody is judged fairly, at least by me. Even though I'm a really big fan of many singers I'm not going to put my knowledge against my feelings or taste because that's not fair nor objective. I'm sayin this because you seem a little bit pressed after Barbra's video, comparing her to everybody like if I wasn't being fair with my analysis or being biased against Barbra. I just did my research and uploaded my video with my analysis, you can disagree of course, we may have a different criterias or I'm wrong, why not?. But the point is that I'm not here to discredit any singers to put my faves over them, the point of these videos is make people understand more about the whole "support" concept which is relatively new on the RUclips Vocal Community, not make false statements and make people look bad.
I noticed that you only used one supported C3 here. Is this because you couldn't find any other ones? I always thought her consistent support started at C3. So C3 might not be consistent and it actually starts at C#3? Thanks.
@@thunderstorm__8147 She lowers her larynx at D3 and at her best lows C#3, E3 and Eb3 have always been supported. There are other supported C3 like the ones in hold up, and a few others in halo.

I do not understand ! the notes of BEYONCÉ ARE THE SAME AS THAT OF CELINE DION, even that of celine dion are better than that of beyonccé after E5 ...... several examples were given ;;;;;; WHY all notes of celine dion after E5 are not put online on the support ???? ... IT IS THE same (and SUPERIOR OF A LOT) OF BEYONCER ...... ridiculous !!!
dedede jereme Sorry but Celine is no where near Beyoncé's level when it comes to support and resonance. Beyoncé has consistent resonance up to F5 and occasionally F#5 as well. Celine consistently supports up to D5 and occasionally Eb5 with a few lucky E5s that are even tense as well.
dedede jereme "support" has nothing to do with "mixed voice" or "chest". Support= breath support from the diaphragm and singing with an open/relaxed throat, a neutral larynx, and forward vocal placement in order to belt out notes with maximum resonance
For me this G # 5 of celine dion is much superior to those of beyoncer without problem; look at the masterpiece ^^ lol its resonnant and suport !!! ^^ no??????? ruclips.net/video/nx_I3JhrVQ4/видео.html
She has great vocal technique but I'm not that mesmerised by her tone. It's too dark and aggressive for my taste. I prefer a bright, silky and feminine sound.
Oh, I missed the point where Celine couldnt resonate above D5. Resonance and support are completely different subjects. For example, Ariana Grande cannot support past C5 but resonantes to Bb5. As of 2017, Celine has belted E5s in Think Twice and Tous Les Blues Sont Ecrits Pour Toi which are completely supported. Support is merely breath support which is created by engaging the diaphragm, listen to Laras notes above D5, shes using pharanyxl pushes to hit her notes, resulting in a muffled sound and a forced sound. Her only good note in this whole video was her G#5 which she actually used her real voice. Celine uses a heady mix which is far better, resulting in resonance and preservation of the voice, she keeps a neutral larynx and doesnt have to strain, unlike Lara who has to push her Pharanxyal muscle all the way to her tongue which also results in tongue tension, Preventing relaxed singing and proper resonance, resorting to Calling Celines
dedede jereme you are very misinformed informed. A person cannot resonate if there is no breath support present. And also Ariana has NEVER sung a resonant note above a C5 let alone a damn Bb5. She does not even resonate in the lower 4th octaves, her consistent support stops at B4. And as for Celine her supper and resonance stops at D5 in mixed voice. She gets very heady above that which gives her a lot of ease but she still strains from Eb5-G#5 when belting.

She has sustained down to Bb2 though, and you can tell by how it sound that she could go even lower.

As for her belting her consistency in support ends at F5 and she has a few supported F#5s as well as shown in this video but she doesn’t support above that.

Okay, I'm just leaving comments on all these videos. lol But I particularly want to comment on this one because some Beyonce fans can get a little carried away with her abilities. Ignoring the lower register part, I'm hearing:
3:32 slightly throaty Bb4, 3:54 two tense B4s, 4:05 she's pulling those C5s with a lot of chest, which isn't a bad thing, but when other vocalists who aren't named Beyonce use this approach, they are called "loud" and "not resonant" and "unable to coordinate their mixes" so I think we should look at everyone fairly, 4:51 tense D5, 4:57 tense D5, 5:05 is a very pushed D5 that's more tension than anything, the Eb5 at 5:08 isn't bad for a chesty approach, but again, it's not really mixed or balanced at all, so if we are looking at all vocalists fairly and by the same standards, the note could be much more open, 5:26 is tense, the E5 at 5:47 is tense, and the E5 at 5:49 is throaty.

RyderC Daniels what is support for you...mix voice or chest
dedede jereme "support" has nothing to do with "mixed voice" or "chest".

Triggered bees 🐝 she sounds too rough
Can't she sing in the 7th octave..I want to hear her whistle while she twerks..
Celine uses a heady mix which is far better, resulting in resonance and preservation of the voice, she keeps a neutral larynx and doesnt have to strain, unlike Lara who has to push her Pharanxyal muscle all the way to her tongue which also results in tongue tension,
Preventing relaxed singing and proper resonance, resorting to Calling Celines
dedede jereme you are very misinformed informed.
