I definitely have experiences with ESFJs, and I'm certain my mother is one. As an INFP, I struggle with her. I will say that their natural opposition to introverted feeling makes it difficult for them in close relationships. A pattern I notice is they can take those closest to them for granted. Also, they can be focused on their own emotions and experiences while not attuning to the emotions and experiences of those close to them. They tend to talk a lot, but they struggle to actively listen. ESFJs tend to be characterized as "nice" and "positive", but they can be very mean and cruel, especially to those closest to them. It can be jarring between public and private settings. Because their emotions quickly spread out and fluctuate, they can come across as very overbearing, and it can be at the cost of other people having space to express their feelings. Also, it's not just that they can be influenced by others. They also have influential power, especially using shame to control. Of course, to go further, in Asian cultures, there is the aspect of "saving face", something that definitely resonates with ESFJs. In addition, the difficulty of extraverted thinking and introverted intuition can make it really difficult for them to properly manage resources over a long time. It becomes especially damning if they are very dependent on others to support them. They can really struggle to see and understand the long-term consequences of their actions. I know this very well.... At the same time, I see there is a need for ESFJs to be cared and appreciated, sometimes, even protected from others. For example, others may attempt to take advantage of their generosity, and I strongly dislike that. Generally, they are a type with whom I can have a decent interaction, but depth of relation can be very difficult.
