I lived in the Keys for decades and went through some storms, including Andrew. Wilma struck in October and was the strongest Atlantic storm ever. It passed North of the Keys and we got very little wind, then the sea began to rise. The water reach 4 feet deep on quite a few of the Middle Keys. Thousands had their cars, rugs, walls, couches, refrigerators, etc. destroyed. There were massive mountains of trash piled on empty properties for months as the trash was systematically hauled to the mainland.
I'm ready for hurricane season to be over. We were lucky this year. They said we were going to have all these major and minor hurricanes and it didn't happen. The models are all over the place and it hasn't even developed into a tropical storm yet. We've been watching for this over a week now. I called my son a week ago because the weather YT channels were blowing up over this, and here we are a week later, still waiting. They can make all the predictions they want, but it doesn't mean much until we actually see something that looks like a circulation. My opinion only. Get your gas, your batteries, your candles and whatever else you need now. Most people already have these stockpiled, but every time we go through this the shelves get stripped of everything, like no one has any preps already. Weird.

all the experts seem to be saying the same thing. They say it is going to hit the panhandle or big bend area. The high pressure across the south east makes me think it will force the storm a bit further east impacting more like tampa bay to ft myers. I am not an expert, just a long time Florida resident. If you want potable hurricane water, get a WATERBOB. It's a bladder you put in your bathtub. If the storm is severe and heading your way, right before the power goes out you fill it up. Cheaper than a bunch of bottles and a lot more usable/re-usable.
The Mississippi and Alabama coasts are always decimated. You don’t hear about these two states because Texas and Florida are gdp relevant. And Louisiana has some oil industry and a dense city in the path. Google pass Christian Mississippi or gulf shores Alabama - they get hit hard.

How about LAKE CITY, FL
How does it look for Franklin County/Apalachicola
Tampa has been getting hammered, these hurricanes don't like Miami thankfully
agree why is that lol they always say miami gets more hurricanes, we have been getting all the action the last 5 years
High Tide for Tampa Bay is 8:44 am on Thursday morning.
Darn! From the current models, it could be a very close call for us, if not worse.
Goodbye Tampa/ Sarasota. You were my favorite part of Florida
Don’t say that 🥺 I live right in the middle between Tampa and Sarasota 😬 like a mile from the bay. I’m scared lol 😅😅

Historically, haven't the storms drifted more often to the right of the spaghetti models?
Question. The time of year. How many times expected to hit north ended up going up Charlotte Harbor. Are we sure this storm won't.
We just got states of emergency in Florida I live very closed to Tallahassee 😢
What about duval county?
Is that in FLA? You're screwed. Trump lives in FLA. I'm sorry.
how far will the jet stream push Helene east
What about levy county Chiefland fl
Cedar key here
Hey
What meteorological conditions would bring it further east tract??
Deeper trough with the stalling front
They mentioned Ian. I have a feeling that there's a strong chance that it will do what Ian did and curve into Tampa last minute
Are we going to be on the dirty side in Pinellas county because I live in St. Petersburg
All of FLA is dirty; have you smelled your water?
That is what I'm thinking! It's possible. Been through a lot of hurricanes in Florida.
AND you cannot know if a tornado will spawn out of this storm . Like will i be safe in Alachua county No ONE knows if you will.
What's it looking like for the Keaton Beach area? I live about 3 miles inland.
Why is it only Texas, La, Fl get these? Why never Mississippi or Alabama? They are Gulf states as well. Truly curious.
The Mississippi and Alabama coasts are always decimated. You don’t hear about these two states because Texas and Florida are gdp relevant. And Louisiana has some oil industry and a dense city in the path. Google pass Christian Mississippi or gulf shores Alabama - they get hit hard.
They do.
The Mississippi and Alabama coastlines are comparatively very small.
Because we cheer for Crimson Tide. Hurricanes don't mess with the Tide!
@@Droogie128I wondered the same thing and my husband explained how much smaller their coastlines are as compared to Texas, Louisiana, and Florida.
The president of the US is the only one that should declare a state of emergency for any state(s).
Hopefully it does not hit tampa bay area
I live in St. Petersburg Florida should we take precautions of this hurricane
I would. And I am from North Fl Big Bend area.

Don't worry. Trump will bust out his Sharpie and move the storm toward Mexico while tossing them cheap, off-brand paper towels.
Weird the latest 12Z high resolution hurricane models show 899mb/910mb/918mb/929mb which are pretty much solid CAT-5 and your forecast shows CAT-2.
being in key west we got sloshed with ian so i hope this doesnt shift anymore east
