@@damienhunt4264 Irish? Hell, he and Tom Waits might be the two greatest solo artists ever. Who else has written, composed, played, and sung the greatest music ever for us?
Una y otra vez escucho esta versión del genial Von Morrison, y siempre tengo una enorme experiencia estética, me trasciende y reconozco lo que es arte, de lo que no es. Gracias Xavi, y gracias Von por hacerme gozar tanto.
Interestingly, if this is in fact 2-18-2008, SJI is NOT listed on setlist.fm...But an examination of the camera work does seem to indicate it's the same show as others on YT... Anyway it's my favorite - while good, Van is sitting down in the other cuts, this is the one with the energy.
I thought by now someone might have added a comment about the similarity of theme of St James' Infirmary and TB Sheets, which Morrison wrote, and recorded in 1967. Colouring one's appreciation of this choice of material is the suggestion (there is no easily locatable publicly available information to confirm this) that the latter song is an autobiographical account of attending the deathbed of a young woman, perhaps a girlfriend.
Had no idea Morrison ever did any cuts like this. When I saw St. James Infernari I thought it was a joke. S/B Infirmary. A classic song done very well.
mountainfree Have a listen to Rhiannon Giddens' version with the Silk Road Ensemble - completely different take with a lot of Gypsy jazz to it. Tom Jones has also done two superb versions with Jools Holland's Blues Band, one of them with Rhiannin Giddens duetting with him.
Got lucky born and raised in Belfast, same year as Van and followed his rise to Greatness,
Simplement sublime
Doesn’t get played or sung any better than this! And I’ve only listened to this a dozen times...
Une merveille,m'y God.On est près du bonheur!
Def the best version of this song!!!
The 1928 louis armstrong and the hugh laurie on the piano 🎹 are also powerful versions
Love Van, ever since Moondance in 1970... This one is a heart breaker!
Van Morrison , una leyenda .
Understated and beautiful
this really hits the spot.
One of the best
Damn that's some fine sax playing..
thannks Mr. Morrison. You're still Van the Man...
Incredible version! can't wait for Van's next opus

I see YT does this to you as well.

Grazie
No wonder I love this man’s singing. To me Van is greatest Irish musician.

@@lillybloom1590 given that I didin;t write the original comment, I think your reply is misdirected, although it is arguably true.
Pure magic.
The great Cab Calloway's version of this song is great also.
Beautiful
thanks.
Wonderful video. Thanks for posting it.
Very nice, Van.

All these years I had no idea Van played sax.
Van is multi talented. He is that good.
Saxophone, piano, guitar, armónica, his voice!!!!
Also give Joe Cocker's version a listen. It's here on youtube.
That's how it's done.
very cool.

GR8
I saw him in carre Amsterdam with this number I thought it was 2004.
I''m sure we were there as well. I remember how much impact and surprising this song had on us.
Infernari...
Bom
Correct spelling is “Saint James Infirmary”
A mi me gusta más infernary
He...he...
Infirmary!!!!

It's on the LP What's Wrong With This Picture?
(October 2003 by Blue Note Records)
Ahh, so good to see John Platania
What an oldie but goodie. Which one? Van or St James Infirmary?
Ya Hoo! 👍
Where and when was this recorded? It looks like a professional recording.
it just like like LaLa Land!
A sax?!?!
I think you spelled " James " wrong.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL
Actually, James is the only word spelled correctly in the title. One out of three isn’t bad? 🥸😆🤭
Shut your eyes, open your ears..sheila
🤣
Van Blows!
Infirmary
Write the proper title
this is good but Louis Armstrong 1928 version is still tops..

St* Infirmary*
Sant James Infernari? Dude, what the fuck, whats that song?
self indulgent version
Belíssima interpretação. Só perde pra versão do Joe Cocker, mas é questão de polegadas de diferença.
Personally I think this is a better version than Joe’s.
@@jpathak6227 , questão de polegadas tb?
I am disappointed in so many of his music (voice) some is good rest no real commitment
What a lousy version of a really good song. Ive got to be brutal and blunt. This does no justice to the original
van morrison must be the worst saxophone player in the world
Don't agree.I have that title! Van is a brilliant sax player and has been for years.
