The brilliance of this Man comes from his ability to be absolutely present within his music as he performs it. In this clip, he's up there having a great time relating to the same lyrics he must have sung a thousand times. No two versions would sound exactly the same because, in the space he's created within his music, he responds in the moment to the energy he feels within himself, from the audience and from musicians around him. Truly gifted.

@@jschuler53 both of these gentleman are so gifted I think Dylan is probably a slightly better songwriter his songs are a little more thought provoking and I'm not just talking about social issues Van is also a hell of a songwriter he is also in my opinion a better singer and musician he does so many genres of music I'm a Black American and I think that black people are a lot harder to impress than whites because it is an integral part of culture and it goes deep because of what we have endured and sadly continue to endure in this country Van Morrison knocks me out his voice just good wine just gets better with age sometimes when I'm listening to him after a martini or two I shout out just like he's there SING IT MOTHERFUCKER SING THAT SONG!!!

Van Morrison was the musical love of my life. He has been a constant in my life since Them and Gloria. My kids grew up with him and can recognize his voice anywhere. My daughter is a huge fan.

Van has stood the test of time. Long after he's gone people will still be enjoying these wonderful works.

Followed Van Morrison for 50 years, but lately, I realize I did not fully know him, or know the depth of not just his singing...but everything concerning him. He's so much more, so much..not even sure if there is a word in the worlds language to even fully describe him, it has to be a word from above.

I'm no great orator so the best I can say is that Van and his music takes me off to a spiritual plane, to a place of pure musical and spiritual joy and enlightenment. This performance is sublime.
Treasures like Van Morrison are irreplaceable. There is such passion and soul in what he brings to each performance.

I love Sir Van Morrison he is one of the few legends that I have to say his voice gets better with age don't get me wrong his vocal delivery as a young man on every level that you can evaluate a singer was amazing but this man just continues to blow my mind not just as a singer but also as songwriter and as a musician I've always felt that Van at least in America is a bit underrated

Man this is sheer brilliance - Van at his very best. The way the band - all in one smooth synchronisation - go up and down, slow and fast - just sheer brilliance. Van is the only musician know who uses his voice as an instrument. May you keep going for a very long time Mr Van!!

I've been fortunate to have seen Van many times over the years, but these two nights, November 7 & 8 2008, were exceptional, Van and his band delivered two magnificent shows. I sat in the 3rd row the first night, and the 1st row on the second, seeing him perform Astral weeks up close was worth the 3500 mile journey from Minneapolis.

I am only 72 but I have listen with awe to Van Morrison my entire adult life...which started at 16 or maybe 20 or maybe 71
I will forever be grateful to my father who introduced me to this beautiful man's music, lingering memories from my youth shaped and forged by many late nights listening with my father to scratchy vinyls. I only hope that I will be able to impart some of this magic, wisdom and beauty to my beautiful baby girl.

The audience got a playful Van 🤩. I saw him in the early 90’s in the Stadium in Dublin and he played with his back to us the whole gig. It was still amazing and a privilege.
Don't know what it is, performances like this have that something you can't put your finger on but, oh man you know it's there.

I’ve been lucky to see Van Morrison live twice in my life. First time I didn’t feel it, Sloane Castle, Ireland touring (I think) with Bob Dylan but the second time in London it was magical.
