    The first three albums of BOC are known as the the black and white years. The first album has Last Days of May, Cities on Flame with Rock'n'Roll, Before the Kiss (A Redcap) and others that are so good. Tyranny and Mutation has, beside this song, "OD'd on Life", Hot Rails to Hells. Secret Treaties is good from start to finish, Career of Evil through Astronomy. But ME-262 and Dominance and Submission are musts.

    • @TheErsu

    You are amazing.. this could be maybe the heaviest song that BOC does.. I've requested it on occasion to some reactors, and I love the obscure stuff that you do.. the great Allen Lanier on keyboards!. Keep it up.. BOC, "E.T.I." or "Career Of Evil"..

    • @mcbeezee2120
      @mcbeezee2120 2 года назад +1

      Lyrics-wise, I agree with you 100%. The heaviest they've done.
      "They held their heads with laughs of pain. They learned from men who'd just refrain, from glancing at a mirror's face. Seven screaming diz-busters who lurked by a rose.
      Had iron for a bloodstream and ice behind their eyes. On each and all those holy nights, where Duster's dust becomes the sale and Lucifer, the light..."

    Most excellent, sir. You chose a tune that quite possibly best represents their black and white era. Hard as nails, and about as completely opposite you can get from their commercial stuff. With lyrics like, "...and ice behind their eyes...", and "...Lucifer the Light...", you now know why, early in their career, they were sometimes referred to as "the American Black Sabbath".

    More tambourine! It's strange. People carry on about "Don't Fear the Reaper", but this is the cooler song. They are from Stony Brook, New York, on Long Island, a beautiful town that was considered the second best planned town in the US. It was also where the stockbroker (Jeff Daniels) lived in the Jonathan Demme film, "Something Wild". My ex was from there, and we happened to catch that movie on our honeymoon in LA. prior to going up the coast. In the movie, they were going down the East Coast. [Twilight Zone theme] Anyway, I digress. Great song...and band. Oh...did you know, as a drummer, that Blue Oyster is one of the Ludwig drum set colors?

    Killer song. Buck's guitar playing is, as usual, unreal. Here's the meaning of the song from the singer himself, Eric Bloom: Bloom: (laughs) Well, it has a sexual connotation.
    That's OK, I'm a grownup. You can tell me.
    Bloom: I think Richard Meltzer and Sandy Pearlman came up with a term, that was sort of like an inside joke to them, and used it in the lyric of that song. To them, the diz was the groove at the top of the penis.

  • @bruceabbott4435
    @bruceabbott4435 Год назад +1

    The very definition of TMI. I asked the guy who wrote the lyrics, Sandy Perlman, decades ago, what a “diz” was. He told me it was the head of the male member. I took “dizbuster” to mean the damage done to male sensitivity by the intense vibration and concussion of riding motorcycles at high speeds. Perlman was not above such metaphorical speculation.

    As far as top 40 hits go Blue Oyster Cult only had two: Don't Fear The Reaper in 1976 and Burnin' For You in 1981. They were primarily an album rock band that had good success in the 70s/early 80s but were never huge. They just released a new album a few months ago. It's called The Symbol Remains and there are three tracks from that album you may want to consider checking out--Box In My Head, That Was Me and The Alchemist.

"Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll" and "Burnin' For You" were also big hits and definitely worthy of a reaction. Also, "I Love the Night" is a gorgeous song.

Buck, the guitarist, sang a lot of songs, and still does. Albert, the original drummer, sang songs, and his brother, Joe, the bass player, sang on occasion as well. Geez, never expected anyone to react to this. I used to have it on vinyl, wore it out. A the time, early 70's, peace/love/dove/flower power had burned itself out and popular culture began to veer into black nihilism. Black Sabbath, etc. So yes, BOC was BAD. With guitar god Buck Dharma no one did it better. But they were doing schtick. I mean "Lucifer is the light"? C'mon man
