@@cy4330 actually I think he's referring to the fact that a lot of parents neglect their children to focus on their own goals so he's happy that mr. Winslow was not that kind of parent.

I really love Michael Winslow in a lot of things but my favorite has to be his guest starring in "Video Game Sound" by videogamedunkey released on July 10, 2022.

He doesn't need this show. He could easily be a voice actor. Literally could do any voice for any thing at all.
The problem is with today's technology they don't need as many voice actors because you can create any voice you want on your computer.

@@AviationNut we're not exactly there yet but there's something special about actual humans voicing things, same goes for many different things such as art or music. Technology can do it for you but it can never feel the same.

I was lucky enough to see him live around 10 years ago in Sydney. It was a little club and a guy got up and walked towards the bathroom. Winslow did his footsteps, the door opening, his zipper, him peeing and the flush. He got a standing ovation!!

No Dougie Fresh & The Fat Boys were beat boxing in the 80's when I was little but Michael is the pioneer of his versatile sounds in the 80's as well🤗

Michael is a legend! I'm from Brazil, and everyone from my generation, who grew up loving the Police Academy movies, remembers him and loves his talent... all my friends tried to imitate the sounds he made.

Michael Winslow has been my favorite since I was a kid, I used to be able to mimic so many of his noises growing up, I used to practice on my grandma hahah but noone could ever replace Michael Winslow, he's a legend, and this was beautiful! Had me choking up
He has been out of the "entertainment industry " since his wife passed away. Rather than hire a Nanny, he quit the industry to take care of their children! He is re-emurging to showcase more in his arsenal of sounds, and at the request of his son! There are many generations who have not seen or know his talent! Now they will!

Back in movies, hell. I want someone to make a movie where he does ALL the sound effects. He would basically be the equivalent of a foley artist for the whole damn thing. I'm thinking either like an animated movie or some kind of campy "dubbed" martial arts movie along the lines of Kung Fury.

I would love to see him go through. Not only because of the sounds he makes but for his comedy as well. He made it different and not just with the sounds. Not because he is famous but because he made it funny. He stopped what he was doing to put his kids first AGT can now give him a start at a whole new career again. So glad he is back

This audition was absolutely AMAZING. He did what he needed to do to showcase his talent and make sure they would all give him a yes, but didn't give too much to where people would think 'how is he going to top that?'. If I were a judge on this show, he would be my golden buzzer. I can't wait to see more of his incredible gift!

Growing up watching the Police Academy movies on VHS (yes, a kid watching R-rated movies, shhh), he was the best part of them. It's amazing to see him back and seemingly happy, doing what he loves.
I grew up watching those movies too… and yeah they were raunchy but nothing awful imo. This dude is super talented 🥰

Well, actually, only the first one was rated R. The second was rated PG-13 and all the ones that came after that were rated PG. I didn't really much care for them after Part 5, the last one with Steve Guttenberg as Carey Mahoney.

Winslow is great at making sounds but he’s not the best at stand up, he needs a comedy writer or to go back to movies or TV where someone can take advantage of his talents when writing a script

What agent? His old agent is probably retired by now. If you're gone for a LONG time from the business you lose your connections, including your connections to agents. That is the sacrifice some make to raise their children. Rick Moranis, Michael Winslow, and Bridget Wilson are examples of that, among many others. That is just the sad reality of that business.
Another possibility is that his kids may have also wanted him to appear on the show.
That's what I'm thinking, he has proven himself already 🤔

I truly LOVED him on Police Academy. I did wonder why I didn't see him in acting roles after that....now that I know the reason, I have even MORE truly mad respect for the guy.
I myself made sound effects as a kid growing up.....most successful one happened in 7th grade when I imitated the "end of class" bell 4 minutes prior to the actual bell. I was shocked it actually worked when the teacher excused our class !
Also as an example, one summer my mom worked at a convenience store. I was usually there with her. As many such stores are, it was located along a busy street....police cars and ambulances often rolled by with sirens blaring. I would often do sound effect imitations of sirens, and it would drive my mom crazy since I was usually good enough so as to make her think they were indeed police cars or whatever outside rolling by.... LOL.

He used to do the comedy clubs. Actually one of the best shows I've ever seen. He is VERY creative with his story telling...
They are good for each other in this case. By getting eyes on him, he can get booked for bigger shows/venues. It's one thing to be known for the past - but this keeps him relevant.

I have a huge amount of admiration for the skillset he developed. I'm not a fan of AGT (I can't stand the over-the-top reactions from the judges), but I would happily watch more of Michael Winslow's work.
