First of all I love that trailer. Second, yes, it really depends on who the dispatcher is and if they have your best interest in mind. I would do 2 weeks of dispatching and 2 weeks of self dispatching in the same season and see what you like better. Driving on the phone is dangerous, Carrier packets while driving is dangerous , taking your eye off load boards for 1 second…. You covered all pros and cons. Great video this is the truth!
Appreciate the feedback bro and thanks man! That’s definitely a good way to go about it. Test out both ways as long as you are able to be safe. Taking your eyes of the load board is definitely a dangerous move lol. But to each it’s own man, what works for one may not work for the other and we all got different goals.

I will say from experience doing everything on your own ends up costing you time and money. Having to pull over get out the laptop and do the paperwork sometimes multiple times takes time and adds risk.
Dispatch services I tried and hated. However, it did give me lots of additional load options, and rates were usually pretty good. However, I did not fully control the situation I didn't like, and it led to clashing, especially if you had a load problem.
What worked for me was finding loads and having my wife do the paperwork from home. I got to go where I wanted & it got me home more frequently.
However, you will miss a lot of the good loads if you're not just sitting and waiting.

That definitely would be a move, and we might do that in the future if it makes sense for us. For right now we have been doing classes in Texas because we have access to a covered space while its so hot outside! But we definitely wanna hit different states 🙏🏽🫡💯
Dispatcher definitely need to know your compliance and can keep you moving. Someone who is aware of how the weight, height, width eat into the fuel expenses. Along with a great understanding of how to properly book partial loads to get you a nice RPM. A plus is someone who know how to recognize double brokered loads and cut them off.
You hit it out the park with this one. A knowledgeable dispatcher/team is super important. 🫡💯

ive got everything set up and ready and finding it hard to book loads myself, 80 day active authority, i NEED to get back on the road and wanting a dispatcher. i have everything ready to start being dispatched
Definitely contact our office we can see how we can help. New authorities are a challenge this days.
I agree some need a dispatcher. Myself I am doing what you are doing I trained my wife and now she has picked up a few more drivers. To prove it works one of the drivers has cut back to 5 days from 6 and makes 1500 to 2 more a week after giving up 10 percent. We don't always look pass our next load simply because we don't have time. My wife can sit in front of 3 screens and plan the whole week smoothly.
That’s exactly what it does for some! Glad to hear it’s working out for y’all. Some may not understand that you gain more when you give up a little sometimes 💯🫡

What kind of truck do you have exactly and trailer and pull power???
I have a Ram 5500 Cab Chassis. Trailer is a PJ 44ft with air ride, dovetail and more. I am registered at 45,000 combined gvwr and and can put up to 20,000lbs on the trailer but the most I would put is 18k and that’s rare.
