In this video, I demonstrate how you can still upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for free in 2019 without the need to buy any licenses or product keys from Microsoft or some other third party Resellers. Following the steps accordingly is crucial to avoid ending up with an unlicensed Windows 10.
1. Check that your PC meets the minimum systems requirements for running Windows 10.
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor
1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
And a Hard disk space of 16 GB for 32-bit OS 32 GB for 64-bit OS
You are likely good to go on the Graphics card and display requirements because that hasn’t really changed from the previous edition of Windows. However for the processor, RAM and Hard disk space, I will recommend that you double up on these requirements for the effective running of Windows 10. So at least a 1.7 GHz processor, 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM for 32-bit or 4 GB for 64-bit, and 20-gigabyte hard disk space for 32-bit OS and 30 GB for 64-bit.
2. Check that you have a licensed Windows 7 or 8.1, to do that simply go to your computer folder, and click on system properties. Then scroll down to where it says Windows activation. Now if for some reasons it still says activate windows now with certain number of day to activate, then you won’t be getting an activated Windows 10 at the end of the process. Here you should ensure it says, Windows is activated and that you can see this genuine Microsoft icon on the right end of the screen.
3. Ensure your laptop is connected to the internet at least once after you installed your Windows 7 or 8.1.
4. Download the Windows 10 media creation tool from this link: www.microsoft.com/fi-fi/softw... then run and follow the rest of the instructions in the video to complete the process.

What is product key?
Your tutorial helped me to upgrade Win 8.1 to Win 10 home. The narration is so simple and to the point. I saw the tutorial 2 times at a stretch, to make sure that I grasp everything you say, and finally did it. It took some 3-4 hrs to complete the update, but worth doing it. This is the best tutorial of its kind as everything is in a nutshell and precise.

It appears to have worked. Thanks. Only took 1:15 got hung up at getting updates and save settings which I changed to save nothing. Probably should have left the 2 progarms in there so i didnt have to go thru the other setup stuff. Only other hangup was my laptop battery when it shut down i had to f1 to skip intrnal diagnostics. 8.1 pro to 10 pro. I watched the video many times while the computer was updating. Hope that helps.

3:07 The Product ID (20 characters) is not the same as the Product Key (25 characters)
To find the Windows Product Key on a Computer
1. Press Windows key + X.
2. Click Command Prompt (Admin)
3. At the command prompt, type: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
4. Press the Enter key
This will reveal the product key (25 characters long) -- Volume License Product Key Activation.

@@amitchoudhary449 Did you run the above set of commands BEFORE attempting an update? If not, your key is lost to the bit-bucket. Also, your microprocessor must support WIN10; otherwise, it won't install.

I did this Dec 16, 22 and it worked perfectly. Thanks so much, thought I was going to have to pay $130 to upgrade. Took a number of hours for install and updates, but works. Really appreciate the tutorial.

I was able to upgrade windows 7 to windows 10 for free also. Jan 19, 2021. The message above the “Download the tool now” button stated that you must have the license to upgrade to windows 10. The free upgrade worked without purchasing windows 10. Thank you for this video.

Recently did it, and constantly failed at 73%, for those who have the same problem as me try downloading win iso, mounting the iso, run the setup with administrator rights, select the "change on how windows setup downloads updates" option, and select "not right now", that fixed my install at least, hope it helps

I upgraded from Home premium. In the last step of activation the 3 lines ';Change product key' is disabled. Does it mean it's activated?

Hi, I upgraded my windows 8.1 to windows 10 using this method, I was never prompted for the product key in the process but now I'm stuck the welcome screen which won't start. I tried leaving my laptop on for the whole day but it still shows loading. Can you please help me with this issue?

He's probably using a VM (virtual machine) and recording from his normal PC.

I followed this guide; I was running 8.1 because that's what I had a product key for and I needed to upgrade to 10.
Following this worked for me; only issue I had was using a disk that had Win 10 on there. You kinda need a product key when you boot from the disk or run the installation setup from your Disk Drive inside your OS, which was the only issue I ran into.
Downloading the Media Creation Tool, opening the file in your downloads, then upgrading from there worked for me.
