Extremely confusing video. You say it has excellent durability, excellent performance, excellent battery life, excellent charging, that its inexpensive ($799 if you click one button), said it feels great in the hand, said the software was a huge improvement and the cameras take great photos except for the telephoto lens. And then the title of your video is "still a disappointment". Where is the disappointment? And what device do you think is better at $799?
yeah it seemed a tat too biased, the sensor size on that three times telephoto lens is so large that some companies are using them as a main camera sensor like what oppo did for their find x8,
This is a little bit confusing as the Oneplus 12 last year was lauded as one of the best phones of the year with cameras comparable to the galaxy s24+ and ultra. But this year everything about the phone seems better, from IP rating, to display, to battery, to software and the cameras are also better, including an improved ultrawide and selfie but overall it's a disappointment?
I doubt there were many reviews that said the OnePlus 12 was better than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Maybe in value, but definitely not in overall experience.
@@phandroid I didn't say any reviews said it was better than the S24 Ultra. But there were a fair few reviews like Ben's Gadget Reviews and others that put the Oneplus 12's camera performance somewhere between the Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra. It's called getting a paycheck from Apple and Samsung. This dude is full of shit and he's saying what he's told to say. Well, the main camera is pretty much identical between 12 and 13, ultra wide is slightly better (almost the same) and telephoto is worse. Selfie cameras are identical too. To sum up, it's a downgrade for me, or a side grade in the best scenario Also, even though the battery is 20% larger and the CPU is 20% efficient theoretically, somehow in every real life test they last almost the same, sometimes 12 wins by little margin (3-5%) sometimes 13. 13R has the same 6000mah battery and snap gen 3 chipset and it's a battery champion (had 20% juice left when 12 and 13 died), so I guess the new elite chip isn't that good in power management. As someone who focuses mainly on camera comparisons, I think my credibility is much higher than most reviewers when it comes to camera performance and how one device compares to another. I'm glad you took a few shots with a few different phones. I have taken over 1,000 photos with the OnePlus 13 and most of those were side-by-side with the Pixel 9 Pro XL and iPhone 16 Pro. Cameras are very subjective since we all like different things, but I think my credentials speak for themselves.

Nothing stands out with the cameras? I've never seen any smartphone camera capture action shots better than the 13. This includes the Pixel 9 Pro and S24 Ultra.
The phone is mediocre in low light and the video does not look competitive with Apple, Samsung or Google smartphones. That's the issue. Action Shots at the training facility I train at would be terrible because of the lighting. iPhones don't have an issue there. They perform better. Look a the example shots they show on their website... Fully lit NBA Stadium and outside in the winter looking at a rabbit with light reflecting off the snow. Those are very favorable scenarios to a phone camera. A lot of training facilities where people would want to use action shots have lower or mixed lighting. It won't perform nearly as well there, considering the normal photo mode doesn't perform as well there. The processing on this phone also looks like a 2018/19 flagship, where it tries to make every low light photo look like it was taken in broad daylight. The Dynamic Range is not great. If I didn't need to use my smartphone camera at the training facility, this phone would be an instant buy. But, I do... so I'll have to pass on it. The video off of it actually looks worse than an iPhone 13 Pro.
I am not sure why whenever people critique a phone, it’s taken as a personal critique. No phone is perfect. Thank you for the review, pointing out the highlights and area for improvement with the camera. I’m sure it takes quite a bit of time to make these, and they are helpful.

I have zero fucking idea why people saying camera's is bad. I had s24u and sold it because THATS A PILE OF SHIT photo qualities. My oneplus open is much better.
Buy an Oppo Find X8, Pixel 9 or the latest for Xiaomi or Vivo and compare the cameras and you'll clearly see the difference. Also, I didn't say the cameras were bad, just a disappointment.
@@phandroidso. I returned the xiaomi 14 ultra because it's actually VERY bad at capturing action shots. What OnePlus does better is that. Fast shutter + live view. OnePlus goes above and beyond even pixels with this specifically and that's more important in actually capturing the moment.
Did you have any specific complaints about the zoom lens other than "zoom number not as big"? I also noticed you used the main lens for all your portraits, I'd recommend at least trying the 73mm, that's much closer to what real photographers use for portrait than 23mm. Also 73mm/23mm is more like 3.2x instead of 3x, but i guess it's still not 3.5x
The IP69 rating actually comes in handy for my type of job. I work in a meat production room and when it comes to sanitization and cleaning our equipment and never fails that we get covered in both the water and chemicals. Our water comes from a pressurized system that spits out water that can be up to 150° mixed with chemicals to really get back bacteria off and kill it. I can't count how many times I have accidentally gotten hit by backsplash from where the water hits one of our surfaces rebounds and splashes back at me. I had my OnePlus 12 get hit by water and it got a little messed up for a while because of the heat and the water that it took on and how soaked my freaking pant leg got. I wasn't going to take a chance at that happening again and then it actually totaling my phone rather than just giving it a day long hiccup and temper tantrum because it got wet. So it's kind of nice knowing that not only do I now have a phone that's a bit more capable but also has that protection rating on top of it. So for me personally it comes in handy.
I liked the review. I switched from a Galaxy S20 FE to the OnePlus 12 last year. I love it except I'm not a curved screen guy. With a case I don't notice it. Love the software experience. Bonus is the IR blaser. Never have to look for my TV remote! Don't fell the need to go back to Samsung...
To me, the OP13 is an all arounder device at a competitive price. It doesn't make sense to compare the cameras to Vivo/Xiaomi flagships as those cost way more. Oppo Find X8 Pro has literally the same camera system plus a mediocre 6X zoom lens. OP13 has even better selfie and ultrawide cameras than Vivo X200 Pro. Sure, it has a slightly worse main and much worse zoom camera, but extreme zoom or macro shots are not that useful for most people. What the OP13 does provide is a great display, great battery (S25U will not have similar battery life even with SD 8 Elite due to 1000 mah smaller battery), fast charging, flagship chip, competent cameras, and a smooth software experience, all while costing less than a base iPhone 16 or similar to base Pixel 9 in Canada. Hard to be disappointed with that
@ Nah, I am already using it. The camera is even better without that oversharpening the pixel 9 has issues with, way better colors. It's even quicker for anything you do, not to mention the camera opens even quicker than the pixel.
@@HoldTheDark-o8e Nothing! . The phone feels way smoother than the Pixel 9 Pro XL when multitasking, video is smoother especially when panning, and the pictures of my child look much way way more accurate in color and no oversharpening unlike the Pixel. The fluidity of the OP 13 makes the Pixel feel like a 90hz phone. The battery drops nothing while in use! It just feels like a 3 years phone ahead in fluidity.
Just recently got a OnePlus Nord N30. My first OnePlus phone, chose it because of the SD card and headphone jack. Would love to see those added to their flagships.
I've had the OnePlus 6 for well over 6 years now. Currently looking to replace it with either the 13 or the 13R. Can't quite decide which one to go with yet...
This video is not meant for the North America audience or market, as we don't have access to those phones with better cameras that support the NA market. Even those phones cut corners to pander to the market they want to sell for.
Hes a huge pixel fan and than samsung guys. Any big reviewer outside of floss have to bash the competition. He has bills to pay and his views alone won't do. Let the man do his job you all know which phone is actually better
They need to improve the selfie camera and upgrade the zoom lens. They need 5x optical zoom. They need to upgrade video capability all around - especially in low light.
Coming from Pixels and Ultras, I grabbed the OnePlus Open and I think that experience was awesome. I used that and the 9 Pro XL, then sold those for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I can't wait to go back to OnePlus, I need that charging speed again. Trading in my 9 Pro Fold for the OnePlus 13, then trading that in for the Open 2. I miss the camera, battery life and charging, smooth software, customization, and better multitasking features.
Every reviewer has a problem with the camera but I still to this day get compliments about pictures on my 7T and that's a 2019 phone. I just feel like there is some bias towards the bigger brands
Bought oneplus 10T for its crazy fast 150W fast charging, used it for sometime, got green line issue... Sold it And went for S24 ULTRA... Pretty happy so far😅
I've had several OnePlus phones and most of them were just okay but I must say this one does hit it out of the ballpark. Battery life is exceptional and the cameras are okay as compared to something else they are satisfactory.
Yes, cameras are satisfactory and battery life on this phone is good, but that can also be said for every new phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Qualcomm did an incredible job improving the efficiency on the chip, so we're seeing all devices this year have really good battery life.
I like the OnePlus 13! I think at all aspects, it's a way better phone than most that's out on the market and could potentially be better than some upcoming flagships this year. Camera could be better, but it's not bad. I love Oxygen OS!
I think people are confusing disappointment with "bad". It's a good phone, and if you want flagship performance, it definitely delivers on that front. But maybe we need to start categorizing phones differently. This is not in the same category as the Vivo X200 Pro or the upcoming ultra from Xiaomi.
Sticking with the 12 over the 13. Seems like the 12 is better than the 13 at 3x, and in the same class at ultrawide and wide. Selfie definitely gets an upgrade with the 13, but I personally don't take many photos with the front facing camera. Performance and battery life go from really good to great, but I've never been disappointed in either on my 12.
Honestly you called out a really good point, i agree OP dropped the ball on camera hardware, they need to really compete and give a solid periscope - i was hoping to upgrade here with a decent camera, however i am not sure about the 3x and has more to be desired!
I understand that it is a competitive market for reviewers. With that said the OnePlus 13 is a really good phone. I'm past with any of the biggest names phones. Price and battery life is were this phone excels and beats the other phones. Everything else is really good. For $900 to get a 16gb ram 512gb storage with 2 day battery and phone charging from 0 to 100 in less than 40 minutes is amazing. I'm sure to get the same level of internal specs from Samsung, Apple or Google a consumer will have to pay an additional $400+ more. That alone makes the phone amazing.
I love my OnePlus 12 and I believe it has a better telephoto camera and the OnePlus 13 but that's always the way it is with OnePlus phones you gain in one place and you're losing another . I have yet to see a moonshot like I take all the time on my OnePlus 12 on a OnePlus 13
So almost everything is awesome at this price point and yet it's a disappointment? It's videos like these that convince me to steer clear of the likes of Samsungs and Pixels. I know Pixel 9 pro users who are having no issues adjusting to this one's camera for regular daily life usage or even high usage. OP12 camera became a beast after updates. So I'm positive this'll be good too. Definitely getting this soon.
Is he being paid by the competition to use the word " disappointment" ? Because he's not really saying anything that bolsters his supposed disappointment. 🤷🏼♀️. I bought it, it's an excellent phone for less than Samsung or pixel top flagships. I took the pre-order deal with the free watch 2R. The watch is very large, but I get 4 days + out of the battery instead of a single day like Samsung. Keep it up 1+ ! Samsung and Google are going to have to continue to up their game. I would really like to see Verizon and AT&T carry these phones, but I just I am sure they are being paid by the top three to keep OnePlus out of the market. I will give an added attaboy to Verizon for letting Wi-Fi calling work, AT&T does not.
You're welcome. It's included in specific countries, so make sure you check before you buy. The official OnePlus charge costs about $45, so it will definitely make buying the phone a bit more expensive.
Yes I do own the OnePlus 12 and love the phone. Actually, it's the only phone I've liked this much since LG's G series and V series phones. iPhones and Samsungs just don't do it for me. They've always been overpriced also.
Come on man, don't talk nonsense because I can't listen to you, what surprises Samsung with how it's a hackneyed smartphone that's been doing the same thing for 6 years, a 5000 mAh battery for 6 years, the same with a slow 25, 45 watt charger, where the competition gives us fast charging and a carbon-silicon battery with 6000 mAh if not more and that's the most important thing for me, i.e. a good processor, fast charging and a capacious battery, which Samsung doesn't give us because they're afraid that their battery will explode, Samsung is simply a hackneyed smartphone that has stopped in time and I can't listen to overpaid RUclipsrs like you.
While i would say the cameras arent this things strong suit, even with the 13s updates, i think for the price you pay, especially here in the u.s were other devices just dont exist, it is still top tier. Just not the greatest.
I love it... Its versatility is awesome... The photos and skin tones are on the natural side and I like it...I don't like unnatural skintones and punchy Colors in the objects...
I feel like you spent 95% of the video praising the phone and but because it's got a 3x zoom instead of 3.5x it's a disappointment? Total clickbait title and reported as such. First video of yours I've watched and it's definitely the last. Very shoddy.
The phone only makes sense in the US' s market. In canada is almost close to 1400 ca. It brings you to quite close to galaxy flagship. Oneplus have to figure it out, every year they are raising the price of their phone. The 12 cheaper. It is a great phone with smooth software. I also dont like the camera island look in the 13, sure the phone is premium, but it still looks like a typical chinese phone like poco and xiomi. They have to build their own design just like pixel , samsung and iphone.
@@varunaX A smartphone is not eggs. It's basically a laptop in your pocket - you can use it to run a business that brings in the income you use to buy your eggs. Also, no one who struggles to buy a carton of eggs is looking at a OnePlus 13. They're buying those cheap phones from the Dollar General Store and using that... People really shouldn't be upgrading year over year - that's the core of the issue. Upgrade these phones the same way you would upgrade a MacBook Pro or Razer Laptop. Every 3-4 years. The trade-in prices are almost NEVER worth what anyone is offering, with very - VERY - few exceptions. The reason why the phone prices are in the stratosphere is because there are too many users wastefully trading in perfectly fine phones to get a new one cause FOMO. Then the company takes the phone they gave you $700 for and sells it for $1,099 to someone who will do the same thing next year. $800 was the price of a top flagship device in 2019 (e.g. Galaxy Note 9) with a few exceptions (iPhone Xs). The increase in price we've experienced over the past 5 years completely obliterates what we experienced over the previous decades - when we were having far more innovation in smartphone hardware (now, everything is just an evolutionary bump with more aggressive marketing pushes).
This phone has a lot of upgrades compared to the 12 and its still a disappointment? This is not a review. This is mostly click-bait, clout engaging video. I guess it's hard to gain subscribers these days.
How is it click bait? I'm personally disappointed with the phone and stated that multiple times, even in the title. I think you need a refresher on what click bait is.
@@phandroid No, he doesn't, you do. You spent almost the entire video praising the phone and illustrating its great features. Won't be bothering with your "reviews" or your channel any further.
my xiaomi 13 recently started acting up, unfortunately im going to have to replace it soon. i was looking into one plus 13, but problem is i dont like 6.7 inch phones and prefer 6.2 to 6.4 inch. I woulda totally grabbed one since i love a smooth android OS but the size is too big for me. Samsung i cant stand the bloat-ware and complete crap looking android OS they run is a complete disaster, i just cant stand samsung phones when it comes to their OS. Google pixel was another viable option but seriously power button on the top instead of under the volume button? Big pass for me, not going to even attempt to retry and reprogram my brain to the power button on the top. If google pixel had the power button on the bottom i woulda went with it because they offer, 6.3 inch phones. I might have to just get the xiaomi 15 since its 6.4inch and has a smooth OS, just gotta wait for global version. Only problem is zero support in the USA, and i noticed a trend where their components seem to fail. My xiaomi mi 11 lasted me 18 months until the speakers crapped on me out of the blue, and now on my xiaomi 13 my cellular antenna is slowly taking a crap on me. Other negative is that the Xiaomi doesnt have that many 5g cellular bands that are supported on my provider (t-mobile) compared to google pixel. Honestly I've hit a brick wall, i might just have to bite the bullet and get a 6.7+ inch brick. At this moment it might be one plus or honor magic 7 pro. Who knew the phone game in the USA is so ASS!
Who would pay upwards of $100 for a wireless charger that still needs the power cord that charges it just for the luxury of setting it down or okay then
Nobody sane would, but that goes for wireless charging in general. It's pretty pointless gimmick for the most part. I tried it for a while and saw literally no point at all in it.
😂😂😂 the s25U ultra is on its way for content. It's way weaker in spec but all these RUclipsrs will give it top marks because it's guaranteed content $ clicks for 12 months. The one plus is amazing especially for the price.. better screen, better battery, better charging, ip69, aqua touch, glove mode and hundreds cheaper.... But its a disappointment 😂
I tried the oneplus13 and it has incredible hardware. The best. Its a shame the software is just garbage IOS crap. I really wanted to like it but i think the pixels are so much better.
I'm glad this review provided a reality check. Too many creators and influencers are pumping up the OnePlus hype. It is a solid phone, but do not fall for the agenda-driven script from Team OnePlus. It is certainly not going to be the phone of the year, and as for battery life, I expect nearly all SD8 Elite smartphones to deliver very good batteries. A few points: I am happy that OnePlus has offered a wireless charger with a fan, as these fast wireless charging modes generate excessive heat, which cannot be good for longevity. I suspect their analytics have suggested so much. The other point was the camera; wait for the updates before final judgement on that. Most OEMs need to get early adopters to beta test so they can see what they have missed and improve in the next 2-3 months.

Compared to the Pixel 9P XL, its trash. I have both. OP oversaturates and over does every color, its crazy, worse than the S24U.
@@phandroidso. I returned the xiaomi 14 ultra because it's actually VERY bad at capturing action shots. What OnePlus does better is that. Fast shutter + live view. OnePlus goes above and beyond even pixels with this specifically and that's more important in actually capturing the moment.
You can say that because you're not collecting a check from Samsung or Apple 🤣
Agreed, camera on the Samsung is bad
The only negative review of this phone so far. I have the 512GB variant and it's beyond amazing 🔥
Right
But it's not. Maybe he's using the word disappointment Ironically? None of his descriptions going through the review actually are "disappointing".
Hard to be disappointed with that
Tomorrow my Oneplus 13 arrives, and I am putting my Pixel 9 Pro XL for sale 👊
I would hold off on putting your pixel up for sale until you had a chance to try using the OnePlus 13. It has a few issues.
@@JustXavierwhat are the issues?
@ Nah, I am already using it. The camera is even better without that oversharpening the pixel 9 has issues with, way better colors. It's even quicker for anything you do, not to mention the camera opens even quicker than the pixel.
@@Cptblogh Any hiccups at all? Is it very smooth?
@@HoldTheDark-o8e Nothing! . The phone feels way smoother than the Pixel 9 Pro XL when multitasking, video is smoother especially when panning, and the pictures of my child look much way way more accurate in color and no oversharpening unlike the Pixel. The fluidity of the OP 13 makes the Pixel feel like a 90hz phone. The battery drops nothing while in use! It just feels like a 3 years phone ahead in fluidity.
Get out of here. I just bought the 13 r and I freaking love it.
Just recently got a OnePlus Nord N30. My first OnePlus phone, chose it because of the SD card and headphone jack. Would love to see those added to their flagships.
I've had the 2023. Overall I quite like it.
Its a good thing I read the comments first. Wont bother watching this video. It seems to be misleading.
Please tell how is bettery life in stand by mode. How much percentages are lost during night? And generally comparing to 9 Pro XL?
Camera???????
Yikes, I'm reading the comments, and y'all really crashed out on dude 😂
Every reviewer has a problem with the camera but I still to this day get compliments about pictures on my 7T and that's a 2019 phone. I just feel like there is some bias towards the bigger brands
Battery life is not as 6000mah battery
I noticed a minimum 7 % drop overnight, whereas my 12 R Chinese version remained almost as it was.
Well I got 11 hrs screen on time yesterday ... Never got that with my s24u
@@gman5218 please make video on RUclips
Bought oneplus 10T for its crazy fast 150W fast charging, used it for sometime, got green line issue...
Sold it
And went for S24 ULTRA...
Qualcomm did an incredible job improving the efficiency on the chip, so we're seeing all devices this year have really good battery life.
had the s23ultra, then OP12, then p9pro...I loved the OP12 but the ergonomics and curved screens made it difficult to handle.
@@phandroid 6000mAh silicon carbide with 100W fast chargin and you give all props to Snapdragon? lol delusional
Yeah, after using the latest devices from Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi, it's hard to settle for a 3x zoom on a smartphone.
So what device do you consider to be the nearest to a perfect phone??
I have yet to see a moonshot like I take all the time on my OnePlus 12 on a OnePlus 13
is the speaker better than samsung galaxy s25 ultra?
Thabk you for mentioning the charger is not included in other markets!
I've owned OnePlus 7T before and now I gave it to my sister
It’s 100 watts in Nagaland, India.
Content doesnt start until 2 mins into the video.
Damn nice dislike to like ratio! 😂😅
For the price it is the perfect flagship don’t see any other phone offering what Oneplus is offering
His reviews lack consistency and are frequently contradictory. How is he qualified as a tech reviewer?
“Doesn’t break the bank” - $900/€1,000 xD
When you consider there are flagship smartphones that cost $1500 or more, this is quite reasonable.
@@phandroid bro people can barely afford a $5 carton of eggs. stop it with 'quite reasonable'
I had the one plus 12 now I’m getting the 13 won’t ever go back to Samsung or apple
Then you waffle and whinge about the cost of a totally unnecessary wireless charger and .5x missing zoom on the telephoto camera and suddenly it's a disappointment? BS clickbait. Won't be bothering with your "reviews" or your channel any further.
This might be one of the worst reviews ive ever seen
my xiaomi 13 recently started acting up, unfortunately im going to have to replace it soon. i was looking into one plus 13, but problem is i dont like 6.7 inch phones and prefer 6.2 to 6.4 inch.
Stupid youtube only lets me watch this with german ai voice. :/
Phandroid should fire you for creating click bait videos.
The camera is average. But then this phone is a chunk cheaper than the rrp of the higher end competition.
I miss my 7 Pro with the peekaboo camera
The first honest review of the OnePlus 13.
Click bait. Shame on you.
I feel the 12 has a better design..13 looks to fakeish
My first and only OnePlus was the 3T. It was okay. I preferred Samsung.

Unsubing. Period!
