    i have the XDi35 to pair with my BNR71...it is nice to think i wouldnt have to blend and i can just run e85, but I've heard there are some trade offs to only running corn fuel, like it doesnt lubricate the fuel system components like regular unleaded does. Ive been on E30 stock turbo for a few years...never had any issues except a fuel rail pressure sensor failure...now that my BNR71 is in, im waiting for it to be tuned properly where my tuner is happy, then I'll install this exact hpfp (and bt ethanol sensor) and get tuned for that. Still not sure if i want to stick with e30, even just drop 93 in it (nice and easy and available everywhere), or go for an e40/e50 tune... stock clutch so I'm not really wanting to hit peak power right now.

  • @johnlefever3220

    Focus ST - HPFP35 or EVO Pump w/ Injectors required for full E85 on stock turbo, will support up to 450whp on E85. (Built engine and turbo upgrade obviously needed to hit this power number) I saw this on tune + website I thought I was able to run full e85 with just the hpfp?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  2 года назад

      You can, we just popped an EVO pump on Half-Send in a recent video, ran some E85 through it. It really didn't make much a difference without the added flow of the injectors to match: ruclips.net/video/Lab8eemmQgE/видео.html - we will be putting the injectors in soon to support some bigger turbo options!

    • @johnlefever3220

      I’m really wanting to run just e85 with the fuel pump because of gas prices 91 being almost $7 a gallon compared to e85 $4 a gallon plus zero knock

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  2 года назад

      @@johnlefever3220 That's a valid reason! It can be done, just need to tune for it is all.

      If I did the non evo version of the fuel pump I can run up to e85 with a tune without upgrading injectors correct?

    • @dham99
      @dham99 Год назад

      @@johnlefever3220 there are benefits to E85 over regular pump..but also drawbacks. From what Ive read, you dont get the lubrication pump fuels provide for your fueling system...and you get worse MPGs (which is why blends work great). So you'll save per gal at the pump, but you'll burn through fuel faster with E85 over 91. $3 worth per gal? depends on your MPG difference. But if you do run E85, you may want to have a dual map so you can run 91 through the system every few tanks to get lubrication in there. I have the XDi35 pump and just installed some RS injectors (sub $200 shipped on rockauto)..and they'll provide plenty of upgraded pressure with the pump to get you well over 400whp...450? not sure.. but if you're on stock block and stock clutch, I wouldnt shoot for much more than 400whp anyways if you want the car to last.

    I’m torn between this fuel pump or 4-port aux fuel. The turbo I’m looking to go with is the BNR3071, my goals is to reach somewhere between 400-450whp. What do you recommend? I’m trying to run full e85, a rep at graveyard performance told me It be better to upgrade the injectors so the fuel would flow better . Any help advice would be appreciated! Love the videos by the way !

      Did you end up choosing

    • @dham99
      @dham99 Год назад +1

      It all depends on your end goals. if 400 to (about) 450whp is your goal, this is the best way to go without complicated installs and tuning. This is a direct bolt on, tune for it, and it'll support up to your goal range. You wont even need injectors or anything. The 2/4 ports are great if you want expand-ability, but they require custom tuning, splicing, extra wiring, lots of installation bits etc...the BNR71 is a perfect turbo paired with this xdi35 hpfp, and you can safely make 400-440whp and even maintain the factory clutch if you're not tearing it up at a track often or running from digs. If you do want more later, and your motor is built for it, you can buy some upgraded injectors (XDi, RS, etc) and squeeze up to the BNR71s limits i believe (just over 500). But stick to the 400-430whp range and i think the factory engine and components will be safe for a lot of miles.
      I have the BNR71 sitting in the garage, and just purchased this XDi35 hpfp from someone (used, but like new)... my goal is about 420-430whp on e30, maybe e50 if the tuner will do it.

    Hi, Thank you for the video, really appreciate you sharing the details on the engine. I currently have a 2023 ford maverick (EB 2.0), and I notice the HPFP is getting louder compare to when I first got it, and I noticed some strong gasoline smell from the engine oil cap. The dealer said everything is normal and within the "normal" range :(. I was thinking about to change the HPFP to the Bosch one, and would you recommend to do so? Also, without removing the engine, is it still possible to crank the engine to the "flat" spot when installing the new HPFP? Thank you

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  8 месяцев назад +1

      The word "dealer" doesn't exactly inspire the most confidence. So take what they say with a grain of salt. A second opinion at a good mechanic's shop might be worth it. But you shouldn't need to change the HPFP unless you need it for further power and tuning. If your pump is bad for any reason and you're stock with a 2023 model, you should get it warrantied. Yes, you can turn the engine without taking it out. Put a wrench on the crank bolt.

    Is there any benefit to running this on a stock turbo + FBO running 93? Or another way to ask, is this something you only do after you want a little more from a 2867?
    Edit: At the end, did this customer end up being able to run full E85?

    • @EdgeAutosport

  • @volcom1boy1

    So honestly do you recommend 4 port injection or the pump ? Also do you get more out of the 4 port injection or are you getting the same fuel you need with the pump ?

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  4 года назад +1

      It really depends on your goals. The pump will stretch the factory injectors to make more than they would have before. So if your goal is somewhere between 400-450, the pump is a much more convenient choice. If you're shooting for more than that, aux fuel is required anyway. It's probably not a bad idea to do both at that point. But ultimately, just depends on your goals.

    • @dham99
      @dham99 Год назад

      no...there are ways to relieve the line of the fuel pressure, but you can also just let the car sit for a few hours and it should be very minimal when you d/c the lines. On most vehicles you just pull the fuel injector/fuel pump fuse, start the car, and let it die...then theres no fuel in the lines at all.

    Question im on a hybrid turbo and i am planning to swap injectors would this pump on oem injectors be better optiong over just switching injectors?

    • @dham99
      @dham99 2 года назад

      I thought the hybrid turbos maxed out even on the stock fuel system... from the comments, if you're trying to achieve 400+ this fuel pump will allow that without upgrading any other fuel components, as long as the turbo will. I havent seen hybrids hit over 380 or so, even the Garrett PowerMax. Ive been considering this myself. I'd like to keep as much stock as possible without investing in aux fuel or any drastic fueling upgrades...but my HPFP may be going out..so Ive been looking into sensors and pumps, which brought me here.

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  2 года назад

      350whp is a stretch on the stock turbo for sure - your best path would be add fuel and bolt up a better turbo. For reference, our shop "Half-Send" ST put down just over 300whp/400tq and it has a Garrett Powermax turbo and fuel upgrades. If you need further guidance, make sure to call the shop and we can help you fill out a build list!
