@JaiB-xr9fl yeah , I truly believe that. What this girl in the video said is right and what others have been saying about Koreans is also right. It just that some people doesn't always experience both at the same time.
if they wanted to feel special or have an exclusive experience they should either: get out of seoul or busan, have come to korea 15 years earlier, or went to a country that is not as popular as south korea.
Trueee When I was working in Japan the foreign girls were unfriendly especially those from the States or North Europe. Most of them are basic in their own country so they came to Asia for boost ego expecting special treatment, but when there are some other white girls they were really not nice ( not my fellow Slavic girls I wouldn’t survive the loneliness without them ❤)
Have you never experienced this at home? Never seen those girls who don't want "competition" around? If not, lucky you, I guess but I'd bet that kind of girl exists in your area too. They're everywhere. Happens with boys, too. Some people are just like that. But I sure hope you don't judge all of North America based on a few girls you met.
"Basic" is a bit harsh, wouldn't you say? I suspect it's because in terms of cultural and beauty preference in Japan, "Slavic" or Eastern European & Russian girls are generally seen as pretty, classy, and feminine in the way they walk, talk, dress, and behave. Perhaps other foreign girls may have sensed that you're being treated better than them in Japan.
Maybe they were looking to see if you had a bag or something. It would signal a place that maybe they could go to as well without any trouble. Or maybe they were just looking to see if they could figure out if you were from their same country so they could speak to you. Or maybe they were jerks. But those kinds exist everywhere, even when you're in your home town.
That’s so real. My friends and I experienced that often in Seoul while we were studying abroad there. Some girls would give the dirtiest looks for no reason. I will say it happened more to my friend who’s white passing from other white girls. A lot of them feel some type of entitlement being in Korea idk. It’s very weird behavior.
There are probably a lot of passport bros/sis thinking you or friend might potentially be competition for them finding their oppa/noona who are even open to dating foreigners.
I've heard sooooo many unpopular opinions about Korea, instead of turning me off they make want to go there and experience them myself😅 (I think I need help😩)
My favorite is encountering a fellow expat on the street, usually walking in your direction, and saying ''hi'' as they awkwardly try to act like they don't see you
As a german, I can assure you that every german does understand her pronunciation of the word "Dankeschön" as a clear passiv-aggressive "F**k you." So it's not a roast but truly an insult. (Normally, you don't say "Dankeschön" in a high-pitched voice.) I love her for that one. ❤
I'm Southeast Asian and my bf is American and we visited my home country this past summer. We went to a mall and while I was trying out clothes at a store, my bf encountered another foreigner that walked by him in front of the store. My bf was being friendly and greeted the dude, but he got cussed out instead by that foreigner. Foreigners that come to another country to take advantage of the local people and economy and get defensive about seeing other foreigners in that country are weird and rude.
Here is what i experienced. There is a Turkish girl in Korea and she has been in there for a LONG time i think 7-8 years or something and still living in Seoul. She shares her life online regularly. We did see her in subway station in Korea and just said hi. And after a minute of COLD talking she just looked at us and said " OMG all of you guys started to come here after me such wannabes" and then roller her eyes 😂. YES THEY DO THAT A LOT!
Some do that. The ones who don't wouldn't even make your radar. You probably passed plenty of foreigners and didn't even realize it because they didn't draw attention to themselves. It's wild that people judge a whole group based on one individual.
This is a special case because she is making money from it. So if it becomes so normal her channel would have lot of competition that is what happens when you make useless content everyone becomes a threat.
Honestly, foreigners giving dirty looks to other foreigners happens in every country, especially the ones with the same ethnicity can't stand each other. I've experienced this in Italy, UK and Canada.
In Japan, like other people have commented, is the exact same way and other foreigners have given me the side eye. Especially if I’m with my friends and speaking to them in Japanese. They give you a full stare down when you’re on the train
I feel like for a while there was also the rhetoric of Koreans claiming that foreigners are special there or treated well/differently at first when tourism first started picking up and somehow it’s persisted and some ppl rlly go there thinking they’re abt to star in their own movie n seeing other foreigners breaks the fantasy
Her answering "thank you" in German was gold! I also do the same if someone talks bad about me/my friends/my family when I'm in another country... And the funny thing is that I speak 4 languages, so I can understand 4 types of people! Muhahahahahha 😈 I also say them "thank you" in the language they used muhahahaha 😈
Like wow other people from other countries doing the same thing that I’m doing..the audacity!…that’s so weird to lay claim on a country you aren’t even from bro, cringe😭
dude you're there to experience their culture, that doesn't mean you get treated like royalty because if that was in their culture then everyone would be treated like royalty there 💀
Very true. Other foreigners would give me dirty looks or act like they didn't see me. Very few foreigners were cool unless I was in group activities with them. Koreans were super nice to me. It was weird, but hope to go back for a visit soon!

I'm an American girl going to Korea in December for the first time. Im PRAYING to see an abundance of other Americans/foreigners! Lol I think it'll make it easier for me if i see others that look like me.. Or not like the majority just to know I'm not there alone😊
I had this experience in Japan. I knew most of the Japanese people weren’t gonna strike up any convo but the majority of the foreigners didn’t want to either!! Had many conversations with Australians and Kiwis tho! (I’m American)
When I was living in Asia, I do remember how so many foreigners would act like they were some kind of king and these were the knuckleheads that could not speak to local language or know the local customs. Therefore, I made it a point to be friends with locals only and I did my absolute best to stay away from other foreigners. One time when I was in Beijing, I saw a young Australian woman maybe about somewhere in the 20s. She looked at me smiled and said where are you from? I said I’m from New York. She said she was from Australia. She treated me with respectful treated her with respect and it ended there. It doesn’t cost any money to be decent.
For real ; for some foreigner girls (mostly) it’s like a competition of who got interested in Korea first, who came here first, who is here the longest, who knows the most niche places, who has the most Korean friends… 😮💨😮💨
Ngl this behaviour is also why I don't like to see other germans when I'm travelling. Foreigners in general? Cool, great, let's hang out. But German people always find the negative in every situation, it's tiring. I love that this girl managed to laugh about it afterwards, she has a great vibe!
That's so weird to me. If I were in a foreign place and I found somebody that looked like me I'd be smiling and waving like an idiot 😂😂 "hey girl! Let's be friends"
Luckily this didn’t happen to me when I was in South Korea for 4 months. I became friends with lots of foreigners at bars and clubs (especially at Thursday Party and Zen II). I didn’t hear anyone speaking bad about other foreigners but everyone’s experience is different.
I’ve been in Korea for almost 2 years. This is so damn true. Foreigners will look at you like you’re nothing and will not even speak to you. So I go out of my way to speak to them to bring down those walls. I flame them later for being a jerk. 😆
It's the sore thumb syndrome. It's normal. If you stick out, there's a dissonance there. I get that same dissonance feeling seeing non Koreans speak Korean. It feels wierd. Thats because it is and that's perfectly fine Plus the news of tourists doing horrible things doesn't help. I know it's not all tourists but that's what news focuses on alot of the time. Bad news gets more attention than good news. Be a good tourist.
omg this is so true one time I was at a bar in Korea with my foreign co workers and this whole group of Russian girls at the table next to us just kept giving us death glares lmao like wtf did I do to make y’all mad 😂😂
This happened to me in Spain. Another American, a male Karen was talking in English thinking we didn't understand him, changed his tune when we sassed him back with our American accents.
I'm a foreigner living in Korea, definitely don't feel special haha.. When I see other foreigners I am usually genuinely curious about their stories and what they are doing here. I have found that some of the most interesting people you will ever meet will be other foreigners while you are traveling abroad lol
It’s kinda of similar to when I was at the mall, eating Chinese food and Bubble Tea. This girl and her friends walked past, and the girl said “God, boba tea is so popular these days,” while rolling her eyes. She… was drinking boba tea 😐

@@GrizzlyNextDoor mine either. Also the way British people say butter makes me cry But that's because it sounds like their mouth is full of it while they say it
Although I think this is true for most countries, it is especially true for Korea. There is a certain standard of beauty that is known in Korea, and foreigners see this, whether it is on social media or the type of beauty that is constantly imposed in Korean dramas. Even if you have features such as white skin and big eyes, you may find yourself in the main character syndrome. But when there are other main characters (other strangers), they get jealous thinking how someone other than me can be the main character. Ridiculous.
@@GrizzlyNextDoor Good for you, but you cannot know what the deal is with other tourists. Some of them might be even more knowledgeble or experienced than you. Maybe not those who act stupid in public, but their friend on the same party? Absolutely.
@turpasauna I never stated that everyone is like that. As you can read the other comments, you can see that there are a lot of people who sadly made the same experiences as I did. Of course, there are people who have made more knowledge than I, and of course, there are people who didn't have these issues. Yet, that does not invalidate my statement
Well, i guess this behaviour is more between younger people, who are most likely also not married yet. I want to travel to south korea and i dont think that other foreigners would react like this towards me if i walk there with husband and baby
I don't think its always about expecting special treatment. I'm American and I go to Korea every year, and when I side-eye other foreigners its usually because they're being loud and annoying. so trueee i saw a video on tik tok of a white blonde guy who was pissed because he was being ignored...cracked me up since he thought he was so good looking everyone would drop on their knees.....bro did not realize how beautiful Korean people are 😂
@@lcejustjake Sorry but they aren't.
Well, if they are pretty they aren't ignored. I say this cuz I know ppl & friends who went to Korea/living in Korea. Pretty ones are never ignored..
This happened to me a lot in Japan too. I always smile at other foreigners, maybe one day someone will smile back?😢
Foreigners were accusing Koreans of being racist, it turns out foreigners in Korea are more racist towards other groups of foreigners 😂 the irony
Not other groups of foreigners.
Apparently they like that towards each other ( while ignoring they might be from the same country lol)😂
Some foreigner who come to korea is visit there to feed their delulu
Maybe foreigners from developed countries carry their superiority complex with them even though they are also the fking immigrant/tourist
we aren’t allowed in many of their spaces like clubs
@JaiB-xr9fl yeah , I truly believe that.
Bro's happiness when tea its not against his country 🤭
Trueee
When I was working in Japan the foreign girls were unfriendly especially those from the States or North Europe.
If i was in Korea and saw another foreigner like me. Id totally try to make friends and know where they are from.
i felt that way in japan about 6 yrs ago. saw other caucasions and they just looked at me,trying to figure me out. very uncomfortable.
Maybe they are curious where you are from.
Maybe they were looking to see if you had a bag or something. It would signal a place that maybe they could go to as well without any trouble. Or maybe they were just looking to see if they could figure out if you were from their same country so they could speak to you. Or maybe they were jerks. But those kinds exist everywhere, even when you're in your home town.
imagine gatekeeping an entire country
My favorite is encountering a fellow expat on the street, usually walking in your direction, and saying ''hi'' as they awkwardly try to act like they don't see you
No literally, the way a good chunk of the stares I got were from other foreigners lol. I love seeing other foreigners though.
Happened to me as well, got badmouthed by a group of french youngsters…very rude and impolite people 😢
Some ppl are just so ugly on the inside. It's not your fault
the roast back in gernan 😅😂
Protagonist complex. She seems chill and down to earth though.
Omg whooo
Wow she sounds like she has main character syndrome
Some do that. The ones who don't wouldn't even make your radar. You probably passed plenty of foreigners and didn't even realize it because they didn't draw attention to themselves.
It's wild that people judge a whole group based on one individual.
@@sortaamy3003 omg shut it sjdjdjnd
This is a special case because she is making money from it. So if it becomes so normal her channel would have lot of competition that is what happens when you make useless content everyone becomes a threat.
This girl is speaking the truth!!
Honestly, foreigners giving dirty looks to other foreigners happens in every country, especially the ones with the same ethnicity can't stand each other. I've experienced this in Italy, UK and Canada.
she's so pretty 💕💕
Finally someone said it
This is so true. I was there for 3 months and can totally relate… both men and women do this though
In Japan, like other people have commented, is the exact same way and other foreigners have given me the side eye. Especially if I’m with my friends and speaking to them in Japanese.
They give you a full stare down when you’re on the train
this diva just dropped her crown wow
@@nidasjafia4060?
I feel like for a while there was also the rhetoric of Koreans claiming that foreigners are special there or treated well/differently at first when tourism first started picking up and somehow it’s persisted and some ppl rlly go there thinking they’re abt to star in their own movie n seeing other foreigners breaks the fantasy
very much agreed, mostly the young, white, pretty/handsome ones.
It’s same thing everywhere 😂.. I have experience of Indians in European countries.. you meet worst people from your own country outside your country
She not wrong... Thank you for speaking up and sharing your experience
Her answering "thank you" in German was gold! I also do the same if someone talks bad about me/my friends/my family when I'm in another country... And the funny thing is that I speak 4 languages, so I can understand 4 types of people! Muhahahahahha 😈 I also say them "thank you" in the language they used muhahahaha 😈
this is sooooo true as a foreigner in korea
True, i was in Seoul…saw that attitude of the foreigner..
Plz do a your Q and A video❤
"FOIGNERRR" lmao this was so funny to listen to
@@glowfly1000 sorry 🥲 english isn't my first language
Like wow other people from other countries doing the same thing that I’m doing..the audacity!…that’s so weird to lay claim on a country you aren’t even from bro, cringe😭
dude you're there to
experience their culture, that doesn't mean you get treated like royalty because if that was in their culture then everyone would be treated like royalty there 💀
Very true. Other foreigners would give me dirty looks or act like they didn't see me. Very few foreigners were cool unless I was in group activities with them. Koreans were super nice to me. It was weird, but hope to go back for a visit soon!
Based on the projection of another person, I think it has to do with your existence as a foreigner in Korea ruins their fantasies of them being a foreigner in Korea. They most likely went expecting special treatment for being a "foreigner"... as Korea is mostly Korean so they believe that you're taking away their fantasy, the "special treatment" because "if there are too many foreigners I won't be seen as special or unique😢" they also likely assume you came for the reasons as they did so basically its a "this city isn't big enough for both of us" mindset. Which is why they treat you like you don't exist, or are rude.
I'm an American girl going to Korea in December for the first time. Im PRAYING to see an abundance of other Americans/foreigners! Lol I think it'll make it easier for me if i see others that look like me.. Or not like the majority just to know I'm not there alone😊
You were very brave❤😊
Youre beautiful inside and out
I had this experience in Japan.
I'm always happy when I see other foreigners near my neighborhood, but I'm too shy to say hi 😅
For real ; for some foreigner girls (mostly) it’s like a competition of who got interested in Korea first, who came here first, who is here the longest, who knows the most niche places, who has the most Korean friends… 😮💨😮💨
Whoa I love her reaction towards them ❤
She’s absolutely right 😭😂
Ngl this behaviour is also why I don't like to see other germans when I'm travelling. Foreigners in general? Cool, great, let's hang out. But German people always find the negative in every situation, it's tiring. I love that this girl managed to laugh about it afterwards, she has a great vibe!
I often either ignore other foreigners, but if they look friendly, I'll give them a nod. I've been here for years. I don't really care.
I ❤ Korea, I love the people, l hope I can return soon. I was treated very well.
It's the sore thumb syndrome.
It's normal. If you stick out, there's a dissonance there. I get that same dissonance feeling seeing non Koreans speak Korean. It feels wierd. Thats because it is and that's perfectly fine
Plus the news of tourists doing horrible things doesn't help. I know it's not all tourists but that's what news focuses on alot of the time. Bad news gets more attention than good news.
Be a good tourist.
The Dankeschön lol 😂😂😂😂
maybe depending on your own behaviour😂😂hahaha. could only imagine😂
omg this is so true one time I was at a bar in Korea with my foreign co workers and this whole group of Russian girls at the table next to us just kept giving us death glares lmao like wtf did I do to make y’all mad 😂😂
Thats cringe
She is a real deal, so coooooool with this reaction
I do 100% agree with her!
Honestly i did notice some people making it their whole personality trait but i didnt expect it to be that pathetic lmao😭😭😭😭
This happened to me in Spain. Another American, a male Karen was talking in English thinking we didn't understand him, changed his tune when we sassed him back with our American accents.
Yo quisiera conocer muchos países como Italia, China, Corea del sur y Thai 😂

Hey! Mr. Iamfromkorea! I always enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming🎉❤😂
Some foreign go to the countries that they absolute love and don't know how to act when they see there's other people that also have love for the country 🤦🏽♀️
The way she says foreigners makes my eyes tear up 🥹
Why?😮
@@GrizzlyNextDoor I have no clue 😭

saw this a lot in Japan 😂❤ it was hilarious how some foreigners even walk~ looking like a bunch of pick mes. it was kinda funny
Interesting! It's fresh news to me
Also, I've been watching your Street interviews, I wanna be interviewed by you too 😂
Although I think this is true for most countries, it is especially true for Korea. Ridiculous.
"I've been here FOUR TIMES already" 😅
So what?
@@GrizzlyNextDoor She's making it sound like she's somesort of expert, vs the other tourists.
@turpasauna That's literally me in the video lol. I have just made a lot of experiences by being in Korea 4 times in the past 3 years.
She's right, only foreigners looked at me in Korean. In Europe other Asians look at my wife the same way 😅
Well, i guess this behaviour is more between younger people, who are most likely also not married yet.
I want to travel to south korea and i dont think that other foreigners would react like this towards me if i walk there with husband and baby
Honestly I’ve never experienced this at all and I’m a foreigner who’s been living in Korea for 3 and a half years 🤣
Hats off to her. Let them know i understood what u said
I live in the UK and foreigners treat each other the same way, when people find out I am from the same country as them they are worse actually .
I don't think its always about expecting special treatment. I'm American and I go to Korea every year, and when I side-eye other foreigners its usually because they're being loud and annoying. If they're just chillin I don't mind and usually smile at them. But I don't doubt that there are plenty of foreigners who go there expecting the red carpet and its cringe af
Bro rlly said spill the TEA BBG
If I was in vacation in south korea I would like to see a lot of foreigner because I like to meet as many people as I can. I don’t understand those persons
I am a foreigner in Korea and I actually made the mistake of talking to some foreigners and speaking to them in English. They just said something to me in Russian and walked away. So now I'm afraid to even talk to other foreigners. 😂
Experienced this in Japan too!
Well if I visit either Korea or Japan I’m hoping no one notices me…black bald and curvy….nope no one would notice a bald black Curvy woman….😀
All the side eyes I got were from foreigners who were mad I was taller than they were 😂
Same here in Cambodia,weird 😮
