The reason he was able to trick Wolverine is because he only has 5 senses Spider-Man has 6 so if you’re Wolverine and you think what you see, hear, smell, feel, and taste are real then it’s easier to trick you instead of trying to trick Spider-Man who can sense danger instead of using his other senses
I can never understand why villains think it is a good idea to attack someone's heart, meaning family, or beings they care deeply about. If you hurt them, you make it personal. You kill them your pushing them past their breaking point. People who have nothing are the most dangerous thing to ever threaten you. Since they are unpredictable, and unchained they will do anything to hurt you. Even at the cost of their freedom or life even.
paleface171 I get that that's the point for some villains, like the the Joker, who's wants to break the bat, to show that they are not so different. But that shit is really stupid, and while it keeps the stakes high, the problem is that it relies on the hero winning. if the villain wins and the significant other dies, there isn't really much to stop them from making a beeline from saving the day to ending theirs. The problem with most villains in comics is that *way* to often is their flaw arrogance and overconfidence, I really don't need every third or fourth villain laughing like an asshole, taunting like charismatic a school boy.
I think the biggest reason that it occurs over and over is when you have Heroes like Wolverine or Superman who it's "impossible to kill". Because you can't get them you go after there vulnerable parts like normal people they have close to them.
Most of the time, it's done out of spite for the hero. The villain can't kill the hero so they want to make them hurt. The villain usually underestimates the kind of response that action triggers though but in real life that doesn't happen that often.
There's an interesting episode about this in Young Justice. Where (Spoiler alert) OceanMaster wants to hurt personally the heroes families where at the most vulnerable. Family/friend/mothers/childrens meeting. He wants to kill them all, but here the other supervillains stop him, because they knew of the gathering, they keep track of their families, and killing them is just an last resort plan. They do not want to face the consecuences unleess that is the last resort. So they stop OceanMaster Swifftly.
Hollywood, comics, and stories trick us into believing everyone hulks out and turns bad ass when their family is threatened and hurt. In reality most people crumple, destroy themselves, fall apart, lose motivation. Familial harm is not a motivator, it is a powerful weapon used to destabilize someone and render them innefectual.
Once you see Wolverine using Captain America's shield to decapitate Red Skull and fly off in Iron Man's armor,it gets pretty difficult to get impressed by any other comic. So far I have only read the first part of Old man Logan (it ends at the point where Hawkeye and Logan leave his farm in the Spidermobile),but it looks like I've only scratched the surface. This just absolutely blew my mind!
I love Old Man Logan. My problem with this story though is how easily Wolverine takes down the X-Men. I understand the logic behind Mysterios illusions on Wolverine's heightened senses, but you mean to tell me Wolverine was met with NO resistance from the X-Men? Yes, I would expect that the first couple of X-Men were killed in unexpected surprise attacks. After that I would assume that a telepath on the team would figure out something is up. Iceman could've iced him. Colossus could've restrained him. I don't know. Seeing the super villains using the X-Men's abilities should've snapped him out of the illusion at the very least. I don't know. I just think he took the entire team down way too easily.
I'm a big boy but that moment when Logan was killing every hulk made me tear up. Rob's commentary and the art style evoked the sadness behind the rage so well.
Rob, incredible, incredible storytelling!!!!! I wasn't even intending to watch and listen to this all the way through, but I was compelled!!! You should have WAAAAAAAAAAAY more likes, man!!! SUPPORT THIS DUDE!!! HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!! V.
Killer work Rob. I was waiting a long time for this one. I absolutely love that you are remastering some of the other stories you've covered. I've watched them all my man.

Go back and reread when Magneto rpartially ripped the adamantium from Wolverine's body. His healing factor didn't burn out. Having the adamantium grafted to his skeletal system taxed /slowed his healing factor. When the adamantium was removed, his healing factor went into overdrive. Or more accurately it went to what it should have been, because it was no longer fighting off whatever harm the adamantium was doing to Wolverine.
Yep...half of his healing ability was always healing him from the Adamantium in his body. Without the Adamantium removed he has almost an instantaneous healing factor.
I love you voice and story telling abilities. You are great. I was kind of hoping you will do a video on the Logan movie and comparing to the old man logan comics. Maybe go over any easter eggs I may miss in the movie.
I just bought the comic in London a couple days ago, because of this video! yesterday i went back to the store and got 3 other marvel bundles, thanks for getting me hooked!
When this story came out, I was blown away! I've been buying comics since the 80's, but I think this was the first x-men related story I ever followed by returning to buy again next month! It was so great I wish they wouldn't touch it now and mess around with it. Also, Spider-Bitch was amazing and I do wish I could see more of her story!
I just hope one day the real comic book correct version of old man Logan is adapted for the big screen or a tv series with a big budget. This has to be my favorite comic book storyline from the comics in general. The pure audacity and scope of old man Logan is mind boggling.
Ulysses Klaue Absorbing man Shocker Blob Silver Samurai Scorpion Doc Ock Bullseye Green Goblin Cable Mysterio was right,Wolverine couldn't take all those guys.
Yeah half of them could beat him on their own while the other half are so close in threat level that it's 50/50 odds. The only ones wolverine could probably beat no problem are 1. Klaue 2. Bullseye 3. Blob 4. And Possibly Cable but i don't know enough about him to make a call
Something i really like is how when Logan decides to pop his claws again, his outfit resembles William Munney from Unforgiven, which is cool because they’re both old men getting revenge on the people that killed their loved ones
This is the video that got me onto your videos, just got done watching Wolverine n Deadpool freaking awesome movie I thought this is what the "worst Logan" was but turns out I was mistaken but I'm here now
Rob, you say that this is the best Wolverine comic? Have you read "Wolverine The Best There Is"? Amazing artwork by Juan Jose Ryp. Don't know if it's better than Old Man Logan, but it's definitely up there for one of the best stories. Would be awesome to see a ComicsExplained video on that series.
lol rob you got me cracking up over here man I love all your videos man but every time you say let me tell you something robcore it reminds me of when I was a kid watching wrestling when I was into hulk Hogan how he would turn to the crowed and called everyone hulkamaniacs and say let me tell you something brother lol. anyways man love the store I like all your videos before I even watch it cause I know im gonna love when you put on here keep up the good work thanks for explaining there stores @comicsExplained

I've been reading Wolverine for a little over 20 years now, but it just now dawned on me. Wouldn't his healing factor be weaker with adamantium in his body than with out it? He may have been able to survive the experiment but it would tax the hell out of his healing factor. Constantly working to keep him from being poisoned an all.
ChronicScrub nah bruh. Even without the adamantium he can survive a pretty much everything he did before. But since he has the metal he was indestructible. His bones couldn’t break and all.
Well in the comics when he did get the metal bonded his healing factor did deminish but after a while it went back to normal because it got used to the metal
It does after he loses his adamantium i'm pretty sure his healing factor gets better and they give him adamantium again except this one doesn't poison him somehow
This reminds me of a What If? comic where Captain America wasn't revived in time and the U.S. was conquered and split in half between Dr. Doom and The Red Skull/Hydra. The X-Man were wiped out except for Wolvie and Jean Grey who are now part of a resistance group along with Iron Man and some others . In the final battle, Hydra unleashes a mind-controlled Hulk on the heroes before his mind control device was destroyed. It just has a similar post-apocalyptic/dystopian feel plus that the villians had their own territories and whatnot.
I mean with all the powerlevel battle forums making Odin to be some kind of OP galaxy buster you'd think Thor's death would piss him off enough to crush the Earth like an egg.
I need all the events leading up to and after old man Logan if you could tell me the order I would appreciate it if no its a lot you said but you got me hooked thanks and love the videos keep them up
That Mysterio twist was mind blowing...
Was stupid. He can barely trick Spider-Man but can completely manipulate wolverine with some of the keenest senses?

The hulk family unleashed something worse than death a man with noting to lose.
...and oh, how they PAID for that mistake.
Reality Rejection Service big time
Camilla B: not only that, they unleashed a man with nothing to lose who has a healing factor *AND* adamantium claws. that's even worse.
Of course, the most dangerous person is someone who has nothing to lose.

I wish we get to see a side story of the rest of the fights that went on after wolverine killed the x men. That story would be so insane and cool
