I think the best home Gym open trap bar for the price is the Giant lifting one. Rep is nice too but I could see how it may be too large of a footprint for some folks.

Great price and looks nice on the Giant. Looks like it's rackable, so prob real close to the Rep in terms of size. I don't use the Rep for cambered squats or presses, so haven't racked it once except to take pics of it. I'm strongly considering selling it and going with something smaller. I wish the Fringe or BOS bars had just a touch more width inside the handles. I like to stand with my feet a little wider than shoulder width and I can't do that on those bars.

I think i'll pick this up based on this recommendation. Been looking for something to rip some heavy shrugs/power shrugs with; this seems to fit the bill nicely!

I’ve been very happy with my Rep Open Trap Bar. I love that the handles are removable and I can squat with it as well.

It's a great bar and, I think, the single best OTB on the market. I'm trying to find a way to keep mine, but since I never rack it or use it for anything other than carries and deadlifts, it's a bit overkill for my gym. I wish the Fringe or BOS OTBs had a bit more room between the handles to allow a wider stance. I'd go with one of those in a heartbeat if they did. Appreciate the feedback, you make some great points. And it's a great tool for back squatting! I've just decided to replace the back squat with a combo of goblet landmine squats and BSS variations (I'm one of the weirdos who actually loves that movement).

@@GymCrafter no doubt. It is huge and hard to store.

That’s a classic, Tim. Great overview. Yours is old enough to have the old Titan logo too, which I think looks way nicer. Never had the chance to use a bar like this (XMark and Archon sell similar ones, if not the same) but I’m glad it works for ya and you haven’t become too “boujee” for it.

Thanks! I think those other two are exactly the same. It's old enough to be from a time when Titan was buying white label stuff. And I appreciate the compliment. I've always tried to stick to stuff that's not high end or super expensive.

I'm using one of those old standard chrome ones you noted at the beginning of the video. Even better - mine was originally designed for 1" plates, so I have plastic sleeves on it for 2". I've had 350lbs loaded without fail and figure if I ever break one of the sleeves that will be the reason to switch to an open bar.
After watching your video on the REP bar, though, I don't think that one would be my replacement. It's kinda huge, and I don't really have the space to store something like that. I need to be space conscious, so if I were in the market today most likely I would end of with the BoS open bar since it's the closest to what I have now and with a 700lb capacity, will be able to out-lift me for the foreseeable future.

THe BOS one is nice. I think they should knurl the closed end like Fringe did, but otherwise they are very similar bars. And a perfect size for a garage gym.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was you who I saw when scrolling Insta and thought to make this video. It really is an underrated bar for the price. I've used the snot out of it and it's held up great.

Your videos inspired me to find out how to add those little clips in here and there. Thank you! I can't imagine how much time you spend editing each video. I watch them and the hours just keep adding up in the back of my head. Unless they've done it, they just can't appreciate how much work you are putting in to make your vids!

Has your garage paint fully off gassed yet?

I bought an air purifier by Mila and in two days it's fixed the problem. It has an app that shows VOC content and you could watch it drop. I can now spend time in the gym with no issues. I'll be doing a video on it very soon. It immediately replaced the old purifier I was using (which is still a great unit, but not enough activated charcoal to deal with the fumes). Thanks for asking!

It's 20% off for fathers day, $183.97. I have an older trap hex bar that works fine. I keep it elevated on two adjustable stands I got new out of a dumpster - Woohoo

I love stories like that. In most cases, weight is weight and no one really "needs" most of the stuff I review! Now if I could only get my wallet to agree with sentiment so I stopped spending so much money on this stuff!😂
