    Just refinished my spaulded concrete 17 by 17 foot garage floor with similar product called Akona concrete resurfacer from Menards in 2hrs. Prep took all week. Apparently the parent company here makes both Quikete and Akona. My finished look is good but took two coats. It came in 25lb plastic bags which I recommend vs 40lbs. Plastic bags kept the powder in side from lumping. 25lbs was fairly easy to mix. Mix exactly 60 fluid oz for the 25 lb bag. Temperture in garage 60 degrees. I had a working time of nearly one hour but it would smooth easier if done within 30 min. I used a garden sprayer to lightly moisten the old concrete. My wife mixed with drill and I spread. She could easily keep ahead. While mixing use a flat stick to stir up the bottom and sides of 5 gallon pail. It seems to settle quickly into the bottom of pail. It hardened and filled the spaulded concrete great. I did the second coat for appearance only. My mistakes were spreading in two different directions and spraying too much water onto old surface. Too much water made for a white appearance. Tips. Use 2 inch tape to outline your work area. Use small flat shovel to scoop excess material when finished. Use trowel instead of squeege when finishing. Squeege in one direction the entire length. In my case 17 ft. You can scrape off ridges with trowel after few hrs. Don't let the squeege hop while dragging. Push down harder if hopping. Keep both mixed and a little powder for patchup of your mistakes. You can trowel it down somewhat while it is setting. You can clean up spilled concrete with water and brush up to 4hrs later. Hope this helps someone.

      how many bags did this take for your 290 sq ft garage? I'm thinking about using the akona for my drive way which is pretty big and think it will take a ton of the bags. Menards website has tech specs and it says one bag 25lb covers only 12.5 sq ft.

    Got it!
    1. Start with a freshly poured concrete slab with a nice, clean, broom-finish surface as shown.
    2. Take an air chisel to the slab to spall the surface.
    3. Buy some Sakrete and mix up thick to fill the spalling you just performed.
    4. Mix it thinner to cover it all.
    I'll remember to buy some if I ever decide to do that.
    For everyone's immediate concern, which product do we use to resurface a garage floor that has been there for a few decades, with cars parking on it, dripping oil and antifreeze over that time, with actual spalling caused by ice freezing, with the obligatory crack, and that we can park cars on again and not have it flake off leaving it worse off?

It sat on the concrete for a few house and we now have around 1/2 to 1 inch deep holes where contact was made at first and discoloration other places. If I patched up the holes could I put this on my whole porch to keep the color even

    • @SakreteHomeImprovement
      @SakreteHomeImprovement  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Donald, first you will need to thoroughly clean the affected area - really hose it down for about ten minutes and scrub. Then, following the packaging instructions, you will need to make a thicker batch of Flo-Coat to trowel in the holes. Once this is done, use a paddle mixer to mix the flow-able consistency, covering the whole area with the same batch to allow for a consistent colour. SAKRETE Flo-Coat is a self leveling product, so the area must be quite even. If you have any further questions, please e-mail: consumer@kpmindustries.com

    • @phyllisgibson751
      @phyllisgibson751 4 года назад +4

      You can apply it pretty thin. Did the driveway in front of my house about 10 years ago. Used a notched trial to apply and then a flat finishing trial to smooth out so it was not to thick. Really looked great with no brush marks and it is just now wearing out. So that thin coat handled traffic for 10 years before showing wear down to the original gravel. Am going to do it again now but will use a large squeege this time to make it faster.
