Ever since I started trying to get better at counter-strike, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of working with a coach. But I always felt like it wouldn’t be worth it for a lower skilled player like myself. Like won’t I just get better if I play more? Isn’t it kind of embarrassing to spend money on something I actively suck at? I’m not sure why exactly I’ve made these judgments. After all, hiring a coach or tutor is an accepted practice for novices in all sorts of hobbies and activities - so why not competitive video games? After waffling for a bit, I decided it would be easier to justify this to myself by making content out of it, so here we are.

I do completely understand that you shouldn't have to clear every angle when making an initial push from T side, especially after a pick. But I think it is worth noting, that coming from a low ELO range, nothing is out of the realm of expectations. You can have all 5 holding Nuke ramp, all on completely idiotic angles, some just standing in the open. I think being in low ELO reinforces this need to check LITERALLY every angle.
I get what you're saying - clearing every angle is a legitimate way to play in low elo - but it also just seems like a way to stay there. it'll be almost impossible to find timings, test your intuition, build on game sense etc. by following this rule.
I know in my games there is typically some base logic to how people play, so I'm fine adding a little more risk to my game unless proven otherwise by the players on the other team.
Great video and coaching as always.
About the rant on 7 minute mark: The positions are different in lower ranks on Nuke. Looking for someone mini is fair given that newer players always have 1 garage, 1 mini, 1 heaven or a site and then 1 or 2 playing ramp. Not saying it's a good setup, just saying it happnes 95% of lower lvl games.
100% There are also "PLAYS" that lower ranked players do that you almost never see in higher rank. Which Ironically... once you get to higher ranks can be good gamble plays on certain rounds because its unexpected. IMO its a very PUG based mindset but lets be honest... 99% of us just play pugs anyway.
@Thrandweel Agreed. Plenty of times, I have seen plays that should not work, work.
There is a parallel to draw with the Crieg and Aug meta; They had been in the game unchanged for years, but higher lvl players just agreed not to use them. Meanwhile, most newer players gravitate towards them because of their scopes but were often told by the majority of players not to use them. That whole situation must have been hilarious as a valve dev to see.
@@CS_Sardine This is a misnomer. A lot of pros are rocking both those guns for situational long angle plays. Works great especially on the native servers. Kind of like how peakers advantage, smgs, and xms are meta.
@Firebrandt Sure, they are viable again in CS2. In my comment, I was talking about the past CS GO meta. The guns had been in the game since start with crazy over powered stats and nobody noticed, because we all thought they were bad. I was making a point of about how we as CS players sometimes fail to see the obvious when it's right infront of us.
@Firebrandt "A lot of pros are rocking both those guns for situational long angle plays."
You are talking about the current meta, right? Or am I misunderstanding you saying allot of pros used to rock them back in the day, 2012-2018?
i love this series your teacher has loads of amazing insights
Just started watching you and this is a great series! I like that the first half is pointing out the mistakes and the second half is talking about what you should do instead
Interesting bit of information for you. On my work laptop, I am not signed in on any account yet your videos are in my feed every week. I have been watching for months and I have finally remembered to subscribe on my home PC to support the channel. The algorithm loves you and the viewers do to, keep it up mate!
Your videos are so great, my faceit level has gone from 4-6 just by aplying these concepts! Keep up the good work
I like to see that you are actually improving. Compared to your first video of this series it's very apparent.
Thanks for the video! This will be quite helpful.
I've used to hate nuke but after practicing it for a few weeks & learning prefire angles/smokes etc. it became one of my favourite maps. Maybe you'll start enjoying it too after some time :)
thanks for making such videos it makes alot sense to me and helps alot. we really need to put in the time to practice everything alot!
Thank you for this, Getting all this info for free is something people should take for granted. Was bingeing these as I was eating some food and after 1 video I found myself watching the rest, Thank you again for taking the time to post these.
thanks for watching!!
13:53 that' something I've noticed doing it myself and like wanting to remove that micro-movement, but not consiously working towards that goal. This can be observed in so many players actually. It's a fear of the unexpected :D
Amazing series, thanks for these uploads. I am noticing tremendous difference in your play style since I started watching these videos of yours. Looks pretty good, mate. Greetings!
These are soo good i watch these like 15 minutes before queuing premier
love the vids bro, keep it up, feels like im getting coached as well
Thank you both for sharing all the very educational lessons. Gr. Rob[NLD]
11:14 the point Pienix is trying to make is that you were already pre-aiming the correct spot but then when you peeked you for some reason swung your crosshair on top of the red box which is an angle that doesn't really exist and then tried to readjust back to the enemy but it was too late.
always look forward to these! keep em comin!
thanks to this series I imagine a little pienix in my head telling me what i'm doing wrong and it makes me play better :)
haha i love that
3:24 I love how pienix had to stop talking there.. he wanted to say "because you guys are trash" or something :D
11:00 what's happening is he's aiming as he's peeking the angle instead of trusting his pre-aim. He says "I need more practice on angle clearing on Nuke," and that's true but what will really teach him how to clear the angle properly is to have him not move the mouse and just get ready to click while he strafes with a/d so that he's using purely pre-aim, and then he would have the understanding of how to use pre-aim whenever he needs it.
so cool seeing your progress. you are legit better in every aspect of the game, and its noticeable also. remember in the very first video, he was showing you how to clear b on mirage. on thing that stuck with me he said short and sweet . he peeked every angle without making any steps . its helped me a ton instead of walking into the angle. i walk up to the angle then AD/DA
Yes!!! This is the thing, I straight up could not do that without making noise. I can now! (Even though sometimes I still mess up and make steps, it’s way less frequent)
@@xboxlasagne what kinda keyboard do you got fam

this is actually such a good resource for learning.
yo bro, love ur content
My idea about the crosshair moving over the target,is just reaction time.
You just notice it a microsecond later.
And viewing it in the replay makes it look even longer tbh.
But the videos have helped me a lot.
Thank you for the awsome content!
Thank
My reaction time is definitely slower than average, that i can agree with. But I have noticed in many scenarios a huge difference in my reaction speed when I clear something without thinking vs when I clear something expecting to see an enemy. Unfortunately it has proven really hard for me to maintain that sharp focus when clearing, I tend to go on autopilot. Trying to work on it. Thanks for watching : )
12:45 I think it would've been useful here if Pienix explained the different methods of clearing certain angles. In some situations its totally fine to clear one angle, then pre aim the next one before peeking. But here you have info they pushed lobby, so it would make sense to have your crosshair hugging the edge of the angle as you peek around the corner in case a player pushed up like that one did. Similar thing can apply to clearing out certain off angles in some scenarios, you don't always want to peek adjust crosshair peek over and over again.
Great content bro. Thanks heaps :)
thank you for watching
I haven't watched it yet, but I am sure it's a great content so I left a like already
Great video as usual :)
Thanks again!
My favorite series
: )
I have about 9k hours, hovering around 20-21 k in premier and I took some really nice stuff out of those videos. Keep em up.
I love when people tell me this!
Please keep these coming
good stuff, subscribed!
thanks!
Great videos bro!
Appreciate it!
26:53 I'd like an experiment to call this in 4k elo and make a documentary of what happens😂
Best content by far.
At 14:00 minute mark I totally understood this, sometimes I prepare myself for a clear just because and not actually thinking someone is there. So my brain is trying to think two steps ahead without processing the information im looking at.
yep!! i have a big problem with this clearly haha
Trying to get faceit 10 definitely need a little coaching aim is my biggest issue can’t wait to contact this guy after work
Great video, pienix keeps proving to me how good of a teacher he is.
Btw, how are u downloading ur games? Here in Brazil at least my CS 2 doesn't have that option. I like to rewatch my games so I can analyse my mistakes, but recently I've not being able to download it.
Arrived here from the mirage videos and I'm enjoying a lot your content lasagne, keep up the good work man.
thanks! this isn't a demo, it's just a screen recording.
If you are interested in that kind of thing I recommend you just play faceit, its free after all and gives you access to demos on top of a better anticheat.
no need to feel embarrassed or anything you are trying to better yourself in the best way you think possible and it will pay off I think if you apply things you learn here and there . I've been enjoying the series, curious what rank you are in premier now?
i think i was around 5k when i played this game. (the videos lag about 2 weeks behind the present day) close to 7k now.
well im glad you are progressing I have some of your same bad habits with movement and crosshair positioning on a spot back and forth someday well be smooth like butter =p@@xboxlasagne
13:56 so I do this alot on accident, it’s not a mental thing for me a least, sometimes my mouse arm will literally twitch if someone “jumpscares” me or it will over react to the recoil because I’m not used to spraying. Almost like an involuntary micro adjustment in my arm
Im lv 8 and my brain goes very often to autopilot which is clearing/flicking angles. I know its a bad habit. But sometimes it helps me getting warm after not playing for a long time... I definetly have to work on this :'D
I have an idea. Ask our couch what are the rules that he lives by in every match when on either the ct or t side. maybe there are rules that if you break them they statistically put you in a disadvantage. Would be great to know
I asked my couch but it didn't answer
More seriously it's a good idea
Here's one, if you are last alive, don't just take out flashes of nades. You will inevitably get punished with a nade in hand on timing way more often than you should. If you wanna make an exception to that, then press your nade key and throw immediately, don't hold it out and then throw it after a slight delay
I am always playing mini what do you mean :D if I play nuke there is always one garage one a, one ramp, one outsite and me mini but we switch it up sometimes depends on the enemy team and the money situations
I feel like ramp is such a disadvantage for Ts so I dont got there when solo queueing because there's no way to throw any utility to give me an edge it's just a 1on1 duel where the CT has positional advantage and T has peeker's advantage
0:18 I camp a lot behind the gray box, why do you think that there would not be anyone?
Broo I love Ur synths, what are your thoughts on the asm hydrasynth explorer?
lol thanks - I never played that one but it seems pretty cool
@@xboxlasagne Watss ur fav outta your collection!!
big fan of my novation peak i love making patches on that thing and the built in effects are actually quite good @@migerrancan554
10:03 - I do this too much as well. I think it's because as you are edging sideways, your brain wants to counteract that WASD movement with a mousemovement to get the crosshair in the right place. In 3D space this ins't that hard, but on screen, unless your mouse sens matches the WASD movement speed and the range at which you are trying to aim, then its easy to over adjust. So I guess it's just about practicing moving your crosshair with WASD rather than the mouse for fine adjustments that will fix this..? I know I try to move my mouse far too much.
interesting theory, could be
It's a different world in the lower elos, you will see some crazy shit
quite true
Hey how far have you gone elo wise?
Because I got a feeling you should clear almost everything sometimes unless your enemies are playing properly
But otherwise im curious how your elo has improved alongside your skill's improvement?
i calibrated around 3.5k, made it above 7k a couple days ago and then lost a couple in a row
11:15 youre talking past eachother. youre saying he moved his mouse left too, while he keeps understanding- and seeing it as if its just the movement of his strafe to the left only😅
also while its important to learn the right tactics, its not always wrong to play and expect things from lower rank players that you think seems to be a mistake hes doing, like the mini talk. But great vid, hope to see more overpass
Question: in my lower elo games there is always an CT awper or with an AUG guarding ramp from headshot and he will destroy us every round because my teammates don’t trade me and he’s really hard to kill with one shot for me… any suggestions how to take ramp?
work on your angle clearing and/or rush his ass down with your team. tough with randoms who won't run in with you though!
I have the same problem of thinking someone isn't at an angle for whatever reason and therefore doing a double take or weird aim like you do lol. Not sure what it is but brain vs screen is definitely not the same lol
dawg i do it so much. STILL!!!!
13:48 I think another way to explain this situation is that you are playing on autopilot. Like you knew you had to clear it but at the same time you weren't methodically clearing it.
yeah exactly.
Low elo always has a mini player but higher elo usually not
you dont need to repeat the part from the intro once the intro is over.
Thanks for the video, it's going to be very helpful. Your content is good too. Besides CS2, are you going to bring more Valorant videos?
never say never!
Uncommon on high rank can be common on low rank though. Just saying.
Super siiii
lmao NA ropz
First! 😅
whats your elo rn btw?
around 5k when i played this game and near 7k now.
@@xboxlasagne awsome progress ive been stuck around 8-9k but recently started 5stacking and got to 11k its like when i play with othewr ppl i get more focused and kill more its wierd
This coach clearly hasn't played against my friend. He hides everywhere.
Silf sahbootaige
one thing i dont like about this is how he assumes that people in low elo play the game correctly. you cant predict stupid
I would argue that he knows how to rank up and his advice will work more often then not.
you can predict stupid, its way easier than predicting smart... the idea of not being able to predict stupid is a fat copium
mf says obviously no one else in gonna be there but the amount of times people do what he thinks is un common is highly common in low elo
If someone is holding bad nonsensical spots then you adjust to their shitty play for that 1 game after you die to it.
You don’t clear that spot for the rest of your life because one bad silver held a rat angle on an off timing. That just makes you bad too.
@Syrupstorm yeah bro ok. You do you. I could say the same do it and when you see their habits and positions stop doing it as often
Not checking corners because you expect it to be clear after a kill is how you get 3Kd from behind by a double stack.
I strongly disagree with the “stop checking corners” just because you killed someone in a location. 2 people play same spot enough of the time in hopes of getting positive trades for me to agree with that take.
No offense but what rank are you? I'm like 4.5k just wondering if it's worth double checking.
@ClickingHeads at your rank, clear every angle. Drill it into your brain. At much higher ranks (faceit 9+) it becomes a lot more common for people to play smarter than stacking 2 angles. For where you're at right now, focus on clearing EVERYTHING. It will get you free kills.
@notrobert8284 this is fair what rank are u sir?
@@xXxC0nSUm3rXxX1337I’m only about 6k in cs2 but I was dmg in GO (still not even high) but I agree with him saying clear most angles at this rank the only exception that comes to mind would be places you know the timing of from spawn when hard pushing on T side that you know they can’t possibly be at yet
I agree, they could definitely be boosting another player on boxes and baiting for them.
i think his sens is just to high, thats why hes moves his cross hair so much
ive played you lmao im right in debussy on steam
