I have 4 of the D2 Punisher 8's in a 4cf box tuned to 35hz on a Taramps Smart 3 Bass wired to 1 ohm. They take all the power the Taramps can push so I'm looking at getting a Smart 5 or even larger.
Not going to lie, performed better than I thought it would, also sounded clean 🤔 didn't hear any mechanical noise, curious to see how it does in a box🤙
This is what happens when you use a clean signal within rated power. Most of these subwoofers work just fine, just gotta work within the true performance constraints (Pick 2: Price/Quality/Performance). … He did mention that was some sound from the surround on the 20-30 hz range.
@Phi Mobile Sounds I understand how it works, but I appreciate it. My current system is 4 Crossfire xt3 18's, Crossfire 16k at .5, 135ah c-max 16v, Crossfire 2000.4 all Crossfire mids and highs, subs are in a 4th order wall that I built. I really hope you don't send a clipped signal to a sub, especially free airing, I was simply referring to any mechanics noise while the woofer is functioning within its parameters 🤙
@@holeshotinspectionllc2412 definitely did not want to assume, just adding my two cents … but a humbled to see that you have such a setup. Very impressive!are there any demos of your build? … I’m trying to get a better understanding of 16v setups.
@Phi Mobile Sounds absolutely I'll send a comment from our other channel, I didn't take your comment in a bad way, I'm using a external regulator with my 02 Durango I run daily at 15.7-15.8 and I turn it up to 16v while competing, after reading my comment I do see how it sounded, sorry bout that.
Love your channel, been subscribed since the beginning. I just wanted to say I'm running 4 10's Rockville Punishers in a 03 Suburban on a small 3k taramps for the time being. I've been running them for a year with no issues.
I haven't ran anything from DB Drive since 2009. Yes, for the price they hit really hard. People don't believe I'm running 10,s on just 3k. It's tons of people that love certain brands. I try just about anything.
These look great on paper. But is it another k9 disaster? We dont know. Been considering these. Not a lot of info or videos on them and rockville can be full of crap.. Thanks a lot mbe!!!!! Good work brother.
@NoB.S Audio Thanks for the input brother.. i up with a couple audio legion 10s. But going to go with these for a truck. Thanks to your input and this video. They seem really impressive from what ive seen. And the price is great on them Appreciate it
hey, i have a Cadillac XLR, there is a storage space right between the seats that i can squeeze a box in and have the port face the cabin, What 8" or 10" sub do you recommend to give me the cleanest output in an either sealed or small vented box. I was thinking the kicker is q class 8" because it's like a 10" almost or the q class 10". what are your thoughts? and yes I know it's a drop-top, but I'm not looking for the loudest setup, just enough that I and my wife can enjoy my music, which is mostly jazz and some RnB
A ported box has to be much larger than a sealed box even if it's the same model sub example a 10 inch q class might go in a 1 foot cubic box sealed but ported needs 2 cubes that's just a example .
Suprised as well.. You are my favorite builder on youtube, been rocking with ya for a couple years now. Building my own box and when I calculate port area needed do I use the total cubic feet before subs or after? Keep it real. Much love from Oklahoma.
Hey mb I need help man I've got 3 cerwin Vega VMAXX 12 subs box 5.25 cubes how much port area would the subs need I can't find any good info thanks buddy
Is that 5.25 net or gross, I would definitely not go any less than that net so they can breathe. That's the minimum requirement listed net. Looks like you're going to need an 8-inch aeroport for those 5.24 cubes to end up at 10.65 in2 per ft tuned @33. Do you have everything needed to build the box? I honestly wouldn't do it if you haven't before, that is a box that will end up needing 3k min, and will need to be built tuned sealed and braced correctly. I just hate seeing people waste so much time money and effort to only end up with a bad sounding or torn apart box. Hit him up, it's worth it.
@@johnnycorn7225 that is net I thought about going 6 cubes I can do it I've done a few but like you said I've spent a lot on it and want it to sound good and Ive got a 3k going in until I get a 5k what would be good port volume for these on 6 thanks man
@@tabathaturner987 if you took that box up to six cubes a 10 inch port would give you right at 14 sqin per ft3 which would work but would need to be twenty-three in long to give you a 35 Hertz tune. That means you're going to need a box that is at minimum 33 wide or deep. You could still use the 8-inch but that would only give you about 9 per f3 which would work fine, but I would go with the 10 inch if your wanting to knock the lows
Oh I forgot big props to you for choosing cerwin-vega too, one of my favorite old school brands, and those vmax subs represent ( also the shorting ring greatly improve sound quality)

Id go with Punisher because of the huge gap for the coils to cool. I have a K9 10" Version 3 and this thing shakes my car into pieces! The Punisher is the K9 on Steroids!
