Meh like mentioned when you reside in an area where it snows 3 or 4 months of the year you get used to it. Can't just not do anything for 3 months until the warmer weather comes back. Plus snow driving is fun as hell. I'm sure he has a blast in his awd subaru in the snow up there
I just blew a 6.5" K9 on the 1st day! But it wasn't actually blown, the Surrounds on half of the subwoofer came undone. I glued them with some E6000 and it's playing just fine now. Only thing is when I play hard core Low HZ for a song or two the whole car starts to smell like glue. Other than that it pounds.
Hey Parker I bought one of those subs a few months ago and it was wired to a power acoustik va1 8000D amp at 1ohm and I liked it so much I bought another one for my hyundal tiburon and I was not disappointed! It slaps hard with 2 subs wired to 2ohms! The gain is only at about 30% and my rearview mirror moves when the bass hits!
Hey would love to see a test on the Rovkville destroyer. Im thinking about getting one so an unbiased review would def help me out. Thanks for doin what you do man !!
I'd really be curious to see you test the SoundQubed HDS3.2 12. I had 2 of the HDS3.1 12'S and they were VERY under rated, could handle wayyyyyy more than what they were rated for!
Great job on all the videos man. Your channel has taught me alot and is the reason I decided to give the bdc4 12's a chance and I've been happy with them so far. You should consider building and buying more boxes and show everyone the difference between sealed, ported and bandpass... like when you review a sub you could play it in different boxes and see the difference. Plus I like box building vids lol. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
Skar actually makes some really decent prefab boxes. Good quality for reasonable price. With the price of wood these days it would likely cost just as much or more to build one. Of course if you need a certain volume, you may not fine one prefab and have no choice but to make your own. For most people putting one or two subs in their daily driver, it shouldn't be too hard to find a prefab box that is very close in spec to what the manufacturer of your sub recommends
I have the d2 version of this sub wired to 1 ohm on an Orion XTR2500. It's in a 2.8 cu/ft box with an 8in port tuned to 29Hz taking 45 volts (that's 2,025w) on music, and has been for 5 months. And I play my music LOUD.
Yessir. I have a bunch of subs I wish I could do demos on but I work and run a small shop here in Orlando so I don't have much time but I'm glad your channel is growing much respect to you
Love your videos buddy ... keep up the good work and like someone else said test the harmony audio monolith .. that ti style basket and the hefty motor looks promising!
You gotta know what your buying. Everyone knows by now rockville is a good brand as long as you don't expect them to do rated power. If your looking for something that does that look at sundown, Fosgate, Kicker, etc. Parker love the videos. Maybe Rockville will listen and rate their stuff appropriately and make some small tweaks that could make a big difference. Keep up the good work my dude!!

I might be a car audio snob, but after spending 10 years of so after high school working as a car stereo shop manager and installer starting in the mid 90’s, I had my hands on stuff from just about every amp and sub brand that was around after the 80’s, and it was usually super easy to tell which products or entire brands to completely avoid no matter how cheap. I’ve always maintained the rule that with car audio gear you get what you pay for. 5000 watt amps for 150.00 are crap if they even get close.
Same in the 80’s and 90’s if we needed 5k watt amp “good clean power” we was paying $1 a watt. I had 2 DD 18’s 9900 series, old school ones with 4 Memphis Mojos. I probably had $15k and that was on the cheap side being I worked at a shop/DD DEALER.
Thanks for the test. Couple of observations: 1) The BL loss / power compression seems quite bad.... 137dB @ ~400W to 143dB @ ~6000W.... you would expect a 6dB gain at ~1600W, not 6000W. 2) As for the RMS, as the name implies you need to look at the mean value. The test tone at 1400W is exactly what you need to test this as with music you are probably averaging less than 1/3 of that.
If I were in the market for a 12 and was looking to spend about $150 I would at least consider this. Have you ever dealt with the Harmony Audio HA-C122? It looks interesting with decent sensitivity but I wasn't sure if it would hit the really deep stuff judging by its specs. Would love to see a review of it if you're ever looking for something different.
Man what is the bigger speaker at the end of the video sitting next to the rockville sub it looks like a skar, if it is what model is it I'm fixing to purchase on bigger subwoofer for one on my cars and that one looks huge. Also in your opinion which is the harder hitting subwoofer a skar, audiopipe, or American bass all three at the top models?
Continous Program Peak are the three ratings and used by larger speaker manufactures of PA equipment(JBL,Peavey etc). Rockville started out as Audio Savings selling P/A equipment. Its not incorrect or weird. Its just a different way of doing it. These types of systems generally deal with uncompressed music so there are more peaks. Not like the pre recorded music played through most car stereo's which is generally heavy compressed in recording and mastering So with the 3 ratings, the idea is you get an amp that is the program rating, knowing that you have a little extra head room to handle short peaks without clipping to, deal with live(program material) less than ideally compressed music. But you can't pump a continuous sin wave at the program rating it will/should not last long. This also ensures you always have clean power, to extract max long term performance but if abused, enough power to damage or push things out of their happy operating ranges into that realm of failure. BTW I have never heard of anyone using the peak numbers any where but in the marketing department Edit- the reason you see car and home use rms(continuous) and peak(program) is they play mastered music. Which do not have those un mastered peaks to deal with so the over all levels can be pushed higher. So its ideal to suggest a less powerful amp, so they use a different rating system. I hope that makes sense.
Thank you for that explanation! If they are going to make subs for car audio they should get on board with how the rest for the industry rates car audio stuff so it doesn't confuse people. How are you doing bro sorry to bother you thanks for all the great information I was wondering about the Rockville subs do you think it would be OK for a low power stock electrical system want some good sound we don’t want to spend a lot of money
Well yeah idk how a new sub could break in when its snowing it.. things get tighter when its the cold i noticed subs breaking in wayyy easier in the heat as long as you dont cook the coil
It does have black glue on the voice coil, if you look closely you can definitely see glue in between the wires. I have these punishers and checked myself.
i have a pair Rockville 10" W10K9D2 on a Boss Chaos class D 3600 watt Monoblock wired to 0.5 Ohm and basically just about everything is about maxxed and the do great for what i thought was a very reasonable $ . I give them @ thumbs up . and as far as the speaker class as i can tell the 10" is better all around than 12 or 15.
What would be a good ht sub that can take a lot of real power and play really clean like a kappa perfect or TC sounds type stuff I was eyeballing these destroyers for my crown ce4000 to slap around 😆
So I want some help if that's possible... So I want to have more bass than I have right now but don't have the room for it. so I have 2 12inch Kenwood road series ohm single voice coil subs ran in parallel inside of a ported box tuned to 34 Hz, I got them on sale for like $50 each a couple months ago they are 250W RMS each my amp is the Rockville db16 (2000 Watts rms@ 2ohms) and I want more but I need the extra room now, so I am thinking of getting a single 15 inch sub around the $300 price point so I was looking at the sound quebed HDX3 15, rockville destroyer 15d2 or get the skar zvx-15v2 but I want the most sound and deep lows but I also need the room for other stuff... I can make a custom box but want to know what you guys would recommend. Thanks in advance!
Honestly im still running 4 12 in punishers with no issue's, but they're probably getting about 700 watts each. I am going to replace just because i originally just wanted to see if they failed as bad as the K9 series. Now i think im going to run either 4 crossfire 12s or ct sounds. They both offer a 12 in similar size as the punisher, so hopefully which ever i go with fits in the box ok
I got 2 rockville punisher been beating for a couple months they do get smelly when they beat for hours but still sounding good I got them on a rockville 4000 w 1 ohm amp 1000 rms 2 both they seem to handle it ok
which dual amp inputs do you use and are their studs long enough for Taramps or is the set screw halfway off the stud? THX! (I have 2 Taramps Bass 8Ks)

Another good video Parker your turning into one of the best bass heads on RUclips 🤟
What do you need the holes were there in the speakers just screw some screws in there
It does have black glue on the voice coil, if you look closely you can definitely see glue in between the wires.
What do you think about vac.tube amps for car audio
Really good videos my guy.. question do you sell boxes?
Nice to see Rockville stepping up their game.
Great video, for 1400 rms and the price point seems to be good, you make awesome vids bro
Would like you to review seismic audio GF line. Cheap enough and if you believe their specs, should be a budget banger
Does it have the same basket as a K9?
so how much rms does this sub actually have? real rms. Trying to figure out what to set my gain to.
I haven't seen you do the db drive wdx g5 or any of the wdx line that would fit peoples budget like to see how the do in real world testing
Bro Rockville 4oow 8in powered sub was my first , the cone is all aluminum its a badass lil guy they aint bad at all
love watching videos like this !
Good video Parker and not bad sub. You should try out those gravity subs see how good they are
Honestly im still running 4 12 in punishers with no issue's, but they're probably getting about 700 watts each. I am going to replace just because i originally just wanted to see if they failed as bad as the K9 series. Now i think im going to run either 4 crossfire 12s or ct sounds. They both offer a 12 in similar size as the punisher, so hopefully which ever i go with fits in the box ok
My sub had the black aluminum voice coil with black glue its one of their 2023 batches
I got 2 rockville punisher been beating for a couple months they do get smelly when they beat for hours but still sounding good I got them on a rockville 4000 w 1 ohm amp 1000 rms 2 both they seem to handle it ok
I picked up 2-15"d2 punisher with 12000.1d amp and wow am amazed
Is this better than the BDC4 or XFL12??
which dual amp inputs do you use and are their studs long enough for Taramps or is the set screw halfway off the stud? THX! (I have 2 Taramps Bass 8Ks)
Are they for sale or barter trade
What was the name of the first song you played? Great review btw. Been looking at Rockville for a min. Nice to see a non bias review
Any thoughts on the old power acoustic MOFO
Have you tested the JL Audio 12” subs?
What watt amp should I get for these?
Definitely not a terrible sub. Nice job!!
I think the sub is ok for the money. Kept it at 1400 or less. Do the Harmony Audio Carbon 12 next. I have 2 in 5 cu/ft tuned at 28 hz. They're an awesome budget sub. Love the vids bro
