    Watching your speed and the RPMs I am seeing that the z125 is geared a lot higher! I am shifting out of 3rd into 4th at like 45 mph and you are able to wind out second gear to like 42 or something. Very interesting indeed!

    • @CTGromer
      @CTGromer  5 лет назад +5

      I'm geared stock from the factory on my grom (the black one). But I'm not afraid to really wind it out when I'm going for speed. The re-flashed ECU on the bike allows to to rev to 10,500RPM before the limiter stops me. Thanks for commenting!

      DMXRACR looking back at the footage I see what you mean, the position of the cross pad on the after market bike makes me have to tuck differently then the stock open bars. Had a ZX10R, KTM supermoto, harley, R6 and all that's left in my garage is some dirt bikes and a grom lol. Grom is the most fun I've had on any of those bikes. The supermoto came close, but was too big to do the dumb things I do on the grom. I also seemed to attract cops on the supermoto because it looked like a badass MX bike and sounded like a monster trapped in a cave. I couldn't go off roading without cops from the next town coming to check it out. My grom has a stock exhaust on purpose now so that I can do stupid stuff without getting the stink eye from people. @@CTGromer That's awesome, I've heard with certain cams, the valve adjustment had to be tightened down pretty much all the way, did yours begin to run out of adjustment? The reason I ask is, if the valves naturally get loose down the road they won't have any more room to tighten back up.

    • @CTGromer
      @CTGromer  4 года назад +1

      If you can justify the price, I think they would absolutely make the grom faster. The grom only has 8-10 horsepower depending on your mods, so things like body weight, tire pressure, body position matter a lot. Reducing friction to allow the wheels to spin easier will definitely make the grom faster. How much faster? Who knows, but it can only help.

    • @CTGromer
      @CTGromer  4 года назад +2

      I've seen good 181CC kits that yield a lot more power, but thats a pretty big bore. I'd stay stock bore as long as you ca if your concern is long life and reliability. the 181s run very hot and if you have a lean condition at all, you'll overheat it pretty quickly. Not to mention the added stress on the bottom end from a much larger piston. Just my $0.02.

    were the speedometers calibrated first? in my experience some new and used motorcycles, especially some, not all, around 250cc and less from a regular dealership are set about 8-15 mph faster than the actual speed limit. I guess they think if it's a small cc one and the speed is faster they sell better.

    • @CTGromer

    Planning on buying one, in going to keep the stock exaust on it, I prefer a quiet bike while I'll be doing little adventures in places I shouldn't be. In terms of performance I'm going to keep it mostly stock & maybe just install only minor functional mods. The extra 5 miles per hour isn't worth an extra $1,200. I'll get a bigger bike if I wanna go fast. A top speed of 63 is enough for county roads.

    Bro, you have some quality content, and it doesn't seem to be too clickbaity. I subscribed.
    I got a stock '19 Grom a couple months ago. Do you think it would be worth it if I re-flashed the ECU only, and left the stock exhaust? I've been looking at the Cam/Piston/ECU flash package from DHM, but I didn't realize an aftermarket exhaust is recommended. I like stock exhaust because it's quiet. I wouldn't mind making other mods because it doesn't affect noise and fuel efficiency (to a certain point--until the revs hit higher because of the ECU flash, from my understanding.) Or maybe I should just suck it up and get a loud exhaust.

    • @CTGromer
      @CTGromer  4 года назад +2

      What's up dude, I really appreciate the sub and the compliment on the channel! I try to keep the content information dense and not too much advertising. I will actually be reviewing the DHM stage 3 kit with high comp stock bore piston as my next video! I'll also be doing speed comparisons between stock grom, DHM stage 2 and DHM stage 3. I know what you mean about having quiet exhaust. I wear earplugs with my yoshi. It's loud. However, it gives me the most power. If more air is going in, you have to maximize the tune by having more air go out. The best options for you would be to get a Zoom exhaust. They're affordable, and they're relatively quiet if you keep the baffle in them, especially compared to the AR exhaust found on Amazon or the yoshi. Actually, the Amazon grom exhaust is pretty quiet too!

    • @SKITTLELA
      @SKITTLELA 4 года назад

      Oh nice, I'll be sure to watch your next vid! From my amateur research, ECU/cam/piston (plus intake/exhaust) seem to be the best bang for the buck--only downside for me being a loud exhaust and requiring higher-octane gas. Plus the extra $$, haha.
      That makes sense; I think I'll just bite the bullet and pick up an exhaust then. Still under warranty, so I'll probably wait 'til that's up.
      Thanks for the reply!
