You did a great job on the kitty house, one suggestion though.... you should have put hinges on the front so you could access the inside to put straw or blankets in there. It may be a bit uncomfortable sleeping on plywood. But for someone who does not build every day you guys killed it.
The cats gonna scratch up that insulation, surprised you didn't put carpet down on the floors and walls.... With a cat ladder to get to second floor
Or make the whole roof hinged. Think cat cabriolet house. And some catnip to overcome the formaldehyde smell from the plywood...

I learned that side drilling with magdrill one secures it with a rope or something if the magnet fails.

Don’t wack those transfer punches too hard. The point gets mushroomed. (Ask me how I know) lol. I just use them to mark my center. Then center punch after.
Smaller hammer and a light tap is all it takes to mark it. The punches will last a lifetime.
A couple suggestions, hinge the back or roof to help clean it and add bedding, and put lexan so Bombi has light on the top, he'll not use the top if it's too dark.
I totally agree and the clear material would help keep the house comfortable on sunny cold days using passive solar.

Dry Straw makes a better bedding for outdoor cats as they'll come in wet and soak a pillow or towel, which stays damp and cold,or molds in heat. A tiny 'dormer/awning' board over the doorway will keep out all but driven rain too. Great work team. The bus work was nice too ;)
Cat poop issue is solved by several litter boxes, not a house😂

Great job! Love seeing your little guy he is so cute!! And growing up so fast. We kept telling our grandson he he was growing up so fast. Well when he had kindergarten graduation, and told him that. He said to me but grandma I'm still a kid! I giggled to myself and assured he he was suppose to still be a kid , little going onto 1st grade! It made a sweet memory in grandma's heart. He is 20 yrs old now.

The Bombi house needed carpeting and a way to easily access the second floor to vacuum up cat hair, mouse heads and other undesirable things.

you need a cat door on it. 12 bucks at Menards or 6.00 on line, and a overhang over the door why so water doesn't come down the front wall and go inside. and cat door is to keep other critters out and at least some wide tape over roof top at peak to keep water from dripping inside. he needs water and a food bowl in there and a bed.

Love the cat house. I usually build bomb shelters and overbuild anything I work on. Make sure you give Bombi a 2nd exit in case he needs to run from any predators.

We had a cat that preferred a shoe box sized hutch and one that preferred a 5 ft square house that had originally been a dog house. Most just stayed in the barn in the hay, or curled up next to the door (with ample access to a warm spot not 15 ft away) ….cats are basically nuts and completely unpredictable
You did great on the cat house. I've done commercial and residential construction my whole life and I wouldn't have built my own cat a house near as well made. 😅

I build houses for feral cats and I’ve learned that the house needs two doors to enter\exit, if a dog or other predator is at one door then the kitty can escape out the other door, you might not have to worry about predators but we have dogs that run loose in our town and coyotes & fox

When I got my 1st construction job, we dragged my brand new tool belt a mile or two down a dirt road to beat it up, so I wouldn't look like the complete newbie that I was. Way back then we actually drove nails with a hammer and sometimes even cut wood with a hand saw.
