Why are there so many drumming experts who know sod all about drumming? Josh Freese is is a monster drummer. It’s why he has played with so many bands...including Nine Inch Nails my band.
That’s why I was thinking, especially because Sting doesn’t always play the full bass line. It’s great to hear the master himself go all out. I’m sure playing that line while singing is a very difficult mind-body exercise.
Ironic! He says he doesn’t have any interest in sentimentality or nostalgia when it comes to the work of the Police but still raids the back catalogue in the guise of a solo artiste!
Dang Josh plays with a lot of great bands. Saw him a couple of times live...once with 'The Vandals' and once when he was with 'A Perfect Circle'. Great drummer, for sure.
Josh is the man. If you see that dude at a NAMM Show - stop and talk to him, great guy. You will learn tons. His Dad was a band director at Disneyland...he has seen it all and had good Jeff Porcaro and Vinnie stories too.
@vigango Recently i also noticed Paul McCartney's drummer in Sting's band during a live performance, Abe Laboriel Jr. Anyone know him? Always plays with 1 tom (hanging) and one ground tom...
Honestly pretty indistinguishable from the way The Police were playing it during the reunion tour. A lot of the songs were "Sting-ified" to sound more like his solo live renditions with added solo sections, key changes, altered tempos, new intros, and a more "pro" sound to it. Sounded great with a lot of the later post-Zenyatta Police material but really robbed a lot of the urgency of the old stuff
Watered down version of the original, played by great sessions guys, that completely bored me so much so..... I had to go and see the Police live to see how it's really done.
Some weird comments about the drumming here. I wonder if you played the music without the live footage, and said it was the original members of the Police performing... Would any of the "Stewart is better than Josh" people be saying that the drums aren't as good? I doubt it. (Nothing negative meant about Copeland at all, though)
@jerseyjamrock Sting used pick all throughout the Police years... and only switched to fingerstyle later on. Enough already about the pick vs. fingers ... It is such a tired cliche comment. pick vs. fingers are just two different technical styles of playing -- yielding a different sound. Police material more often that not is better played with a pick AND on a fretless.
It’s a different arrangement fellows not meant to sound like the studio recording . Josh is a very good drummer . His hero is Vinnie Colaiuta who is one of the greatest drummers in the world and has toured many times with stings and countless others
Cant you see people that the drummer doesnt have any capacity to improvisate? he doesnt do nothing different, that sounds good. he just does a poor simple job.
Josh is doing great on drums; could use a more uptuned/tight kick & tom sound but yeah, I'll take it. Both of those guitarists should be fired, though.
The music's just fine, but now the soul patch...glad he didn't adopt that full time like Springsteen. It's about as effective as an earring for making old guys look cool. He has the body of a 30 year old guy, and is a good looking guy...he doesn't have to try hard to look cool.
Shot out to Josh Freeze on them drums.
He knows damn well to honor Stewart Copeland and I think he does very nicely, here.
yes!
Josh Freese on drums..outstanding session player!
agree, even tho it's in a lower key, Sting being at his age and all..sounds fantastic and tight
@@ronmercer7766 sting was over 60 years old in 2005?
and now in 2024 is Foo fighters drummer.
This is my favorite Police song!
It's a prophecy... literally ❤
I like how he alternates between the original studio bassline and the simplified live one in this version.
Why are there so many drumming experts who know sod all about drumming? Josh Freese is is a monster drummer. It’s why he has played with so many bands...including Nine Inch Nails my band.
Because they never met YOU! The drum whisperer….
Experts everywhere for every f*king subject🥶
God almighty, Miller's guitar work is just mesmerizing.
Have to disagree , over playing his part . Makes me appreciate Mr Summers guitar work on the track .
Dug the hell out of this interpretation.
I recently listened to an interview with Freese. This was his first-ever live performance with Sting. National television. No pressure.
sting plays and sings like no other... the timing omg
Who’s here after Rick Beato Interview.. Shout out to Freese killing it on the drums
Not an easy job to sing and play this bass line at the same time!
Reverted back to the pick on this one, I see. No harm no foul, whatever brings the live show to fruition.
A rare pic in Sting's hand.
The epically syncopated Bass Guitar is CRIMINALLY low in the mix.
That’s why I was thinking, especially because Sting doesn’t always play the full bass line. It’s great to hear the master himself go all out. I’m sure playing that line while singing is a very difficult mind-body exercise.
Sting! I love you proper.
thank you very much Tato, beautiful song
Damn, love that snare sound!
Ironic! He says he doesn’t have any interest in sentimentality or nostalgia when it comes to the work of the Police but still raids the back catalogue in the guise of a solo artiste!
Melhor band de rock. Todos os tempos. The police. ! Sou fan de Sting. Melhor música. Material world.
ohhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyy goooooooood
I luv it thanks 4 the magik keep sharing this great performances thanks :-)
Dang Josh plays with a lot of great bands. Saw him a couple of times live...once with 'The Vandals' and once when he was with 'A Perfect Circle'. Great drummer, for sure.
Sou fan do Sting. The police. Tenho 47 anos. Curti toda essa época. Fez parte de minha vida.
Not the same without Stewart and Andy, that was the magic of The Police...all 3 of these guys
fantastic
Brillianttttttt
BAD ASS SONG HELL YEA
good quality... thanks!! I like very music from this tour...
Spot on...
Josh is the man. If you see that dude at a NAMM Show - stop and talk to him, great guy. You will learn tons. His Dad was a band director at Disneyland...he has seen it all and had good Jeff Porcaro and Vinnie stories too.
Do you know of any specific interviews with Josh Freese? I’d love to hear some stories from him. Love Jeff porcaro and Vinnie Colaiuta too!
perfecta.
Linda música. Vou canta la com uma banda de amigos.
He's so good
Great version 👍!
@All4Seasons Thank you!!
Dominic's guitar sounds great here.
*this LIVE version way much better*
great guitars! ^^
@vigango Thanks BRO! Music Always
@vigango Recently i also noticed Paul McCartney's drummer in Sting's band during a live performance, Abe Laboriel Jr. Anyone know him? Always plays with 1 tom (hanging) and one ground tom...
Massive police fan, but this version is nice
I agree...great sound, great performance !!!
I love how vandals official commented on this video 3 years ago...trolling on random josh freeze videos hahaha.
40 years later, there looks to be a solution, darling
Good drummer

This is different than the album version but still great.
Watered down version of the original, played by great sessions guys, that completely bored me so much so..... I had to go and see the Police live to see how it's really done.
Lol!
Magnific ass always...!!!
What thickness of pick sounds best on a '72 Jazz bass?
Spirit without energy
It's the lounge version.
Josh Freese with special guest Sting!
Josh !
The man..!!
Could someone tell me who is the second guitarist?
Give us the list of the 18 hidden songs?
Is there a band Josh Freese HASN'T been in? Damn, hard working dude.
Yea, in mine

Isabel that Josh Freeze un the drums...?!
I prefer the old version of this song
This is a good version , but there's still Mr Stewart Copeland and Mr Andy Summers missing.. cheers!!
@jerseyjamrock Sting used pick all throughout the Police years... and only switched to fingerstyle later on. Enough already about the pick vs. fingers ... please....who is the drummer????
tk
The bass is still just as good though different players are doing their own version playing this song.
A good but slightly different sound...
I agree. Quite like it in this chord.
Who's the bass player???
Some English guy...
Not sure if anyone below has asked already, but is that Paul Pesco on guitar?
Dominic Miller
@@sheercerebralpower Thank you!!
falto!!!! nao é a mesma coisa
Not sure if trolling
@jerseyjamrock Because your opinion is wrong. You need to like this version, although the original version is the best.
who is the second guitar player? Miller is part of the band ok, but never seen the other
Shane Fontayne
@@vigango thanks a lot
Josh Freese! the best
Lo siento pero no quiero escuchar este temazo sin Copeland
Who is the bass player?
Ray PB. Just some lad from the North East of England, called Gordon. I think he'll be quite successful one day!
Never liked dominic miller's playing but now I know why, what he did to this classic police tune is unforgiveable!
i like his playing on fragile and his work on sting first 90s record. check out rich beato interview where he interviews sting and dom.
Why the gum chewing?
stew's drumming is unparalleled the feeling is just wrong sorry Sting
Why no Copeland?
Amen, Copeland owned this song .
It’s a different arrangement fellows not meant to sound like the studio recording . Josh is a very good drummer . His hero is Vinnie Colaiuta who is one of the greatest drummers in the world and has toured many times with stings and countless others
Lol!
Josh freese!
Bhakti yoga
Sting practices Yoga
LOL
It’s good but the same as the old trio
Brasil ama the police
Sting with a soul patch? LOL!
Smells like teen spirits, isn't it?
Cant you see people that the drummer doesnt have any capacity to improvisate? he doesnt do nothing different, that sounds good. he just does a poor simple job.
Don't know - but he does resemble Stewart Copeland a little .
For some reason that lead guitar seems jarring and thoroughly out of place here, really unusual
Josh is doing great on drums; could use a more uptuned/tight kick & tom sound but yeah, I'll take it. Both of those guitarists should be fired, though.
All the posts sayin the drums were off are wrong in my opinion,,for me the drumming was fine,,,the guitars were a little off for me
Fantastic song, great musicians, but Dom Miller always looks like he's seen a ghost and shit his pants lol ;-)
Wagner do RJ. Penha.
Great performance, by a great band. I saw the reunited Police a few times, and they weren't all that great. At this point, I prefer this band.
I only saw the dvd of the reunion tour and I have to agree with you . I saw the police in 83 syncronicity tour and they kicked ass .
His Vegas lounge-act vocal performances of the old songs, are tragic. He doesn’t know how detached from the real world he has become.
Meathead Perspective..."JOSH FREESE!"
Great song. Has been done better live by The Police.
While this guy is right on the money, I have to go with Vinnie Colaiuta. Still, I prefer Stewart Copeland for flat out enthusiasm...
Sorry Sting only Copeland can play them drums!
as a drummer myself he did a fine job yeah!!
He's not bad at all, but Copeland is on a completely different level.
I was about to write the same thing before I saw your comment. These songs by Sting are all so watered down without the original players.
Copeland is an all time great with up there Rich, Peart and Bonham
without a doubt!
28 pessoas de péssimo gosto deram deslike.
Wahouuuu, best drummer of sting period ... perfect copeland style
The music's just fine, but now the soul patch...glad he didn't adopt that full time like Springsteen. It's about as effective as an earring for making old guys look cool. He has the body of a 30 year old guy, and is a good looking guy...he doesn't have to try hard to look cool.
Sorry but just not the same without Stew and Andy
Don´t try to play like The Police.
he earns a crowd better than this
