I grew up a v8 lover only. 1st car LX 253-later converted to 308.2nd XB 351.3rd EB 304 and last was a Ford xr8.I now understand that simplicity is the key. These old Holden blue/red straight sixes are bloody brilliant!!Lumpy speedy and bullet proof.
Excellent job, it takes a bit to run a 12 using a 1960's 6 pot. I managed it with my daily driven LC with Black motor and 12 port after many people said it couldn't be done on std street rubber and 106.85mph. I want more of your car :)
Just goes to show you don't always need to boost a motor to get a lot of fun out of it. And like he said it's consistent and a reliable street driven car, I bet it'll go another 10 years 👌🏼
excellent mate. I had an EH with a hottie in it - had a Revmaster 72 cam and it sounded pretty good - I miss hearing grumpy sixes so thanks Wayne and SM
@@AttilaThebung True, but many young ones didn’t understand the power to weight ratio especially around corners . Many young drivers wrapped themselves around trees and lost their lives including a good mate of mine back in 84.
I'm wondering if this might have been my old car? hope the owner reads this, but was it in metallic green when you bought it? trouble getting the driver door lined up? the engine bay also looks like how I had smoothed it out with the welded plates inner front fenders. also it looks on my screen like the fenders are welded to the under door sills and across the front, all stuff I did which I'm sure caused headaches to whoever ended up with it. Anyway, hope the owner comes in! looks heaps better now btw!
hi mate , this was never a green car previously, it was yellow over black sills when i bought it off a friend of mine. all the engine bay smoothing and the rust repairs to the lower guards have been completed by myself and are not welded to the sills, sorry bud but its defiantly not your old car..
Your car looks great and runs fast too! I really like the fact your car can run on the road. I'm looking forward to building an inline-6. It will be my first time working with an inline platform.
I can’t find ANYWHERE, what kind of horse power people are getting out of a naturally aspirated 202 with tripped Carbies. I’d love if anyone know what kind of power they can make would enlighten me.
wow I so should have been a boy that car is amazing and the man also. Sad story……..When i was six my mother borrowed her best friends brother's Torana ,,,,,, it was worked…..he made my mother (an awesome driver) promise not to let his sister drive …….but my mother broke her promise and let her drive, she crashed near Tweed Heads and my mother died (29 years old). Strangely i have grown up loving driving cars….. the faster the better.
good to see someone who doesn't need a turbo LS to have some fun
Agreed. It's become the new 350 Chevy. While a good motor, it's grossly overused.

I love how this has a 6cyl. different to all the v8s that get thrown in toranas these days. and it's quick still!
that's a awesome tozza mate. Glad to see a old 202 set up with triple carbs. well done sir, well done
Nice to see a 6 still in it and not a Ls motor
Awesome to see man Old School 6! I've had both the 202 Blue & Ford 250 xflow. If done right can be little Wepons to drive. Different type of fun
That is hauling the mail for a 202ci pushrod straight six! Nice car!
Was just told of this awesome car, older vid, but great car.
awesome lj reminds me of my old lc running 12.70@112mph over 10 years ago. so much fun
What a fantastic car!
Damn that's quick for an atmo 202....With a dirty old 9 port head??? Good Work!!!
230 horsepower running 12's is no joke.
wolf8218 all bout that power to weight
Torana means "To Fly" in the local aboriginal lingo. They fuckin do that.

Old in line 6 for the win.

Nice work I like the DellOrtos
My god that’s tough ✌️
So much win. Love straight 6 motors.
tayhutt yep can't beat the smoothness of a good straight 6!
I have a LJ, I want this motor...
when do we get to see the turbo taxi again? keen as scotty!
awesome I love fast v sixes

I have been told about that accident before by my father. I am near tweed heads. Sorry for your loss.
So clean.
Sweet
lack of cross flow is a little disturbing, still cool car
Is it just me or are the Aussies more American than Americans?
but for how long
Looks like a heavier flywheel might get you out of the hole better
1/4 mile times or 1000f?
1/4 mile. We don't race much 1000ft stuff here in Australia. But we do have a bunch of 1/8th mile tracks
If you had a heavier flywheel it wouldn't bog out of the hole.
I know it's a 45+ yo chassis, but that was a lot of drama for a high 12.

What RUBBISH
