Would this be something you would spend 10-15K on guys and girls? Or what would you buy?
i've spent more for 100k miles slight damage US import last year. It will sum up to 18k~ euros at the end, once I register it.
@@pauliusnorkevicius8647 amazing, are prices typically more there in the US?
@@pauliusnorkevicius8647 amazing, tbh I’m sure it’s worth that too, where about’s are you based? You in the UK?
These are such a cool car and to have one in good condition for 85K cheaper than new is rediculous value. Thanks for reviewing it.
It’s insane when you look at it that way isn’t it! Crazy! 🙌 thanks for watching fella 👍😎
I've had mine for 3 years now..Electrics have been total nightmare, then the whole ABC system failed piece by piece 🙈
Replaced with coilovers with front/rear sway bars and never looked back!..
Its now my daily driver and love it 🥰
Oh damn, glad it’s all going much better now since you changed to coilovers and sway bars (in England we call them anti roll bars) I would do the same I think if I had one and they failed. Glad ownership is now going well for you and your enjoying it.
Thanks for watching Johnny 🙌🙌
I’m just in the process of replacing my rear shocks as 1 developed a slight leak, snd figured do them both together and it’s then done and I used factory mercedes AMG parts from ABC Specislist in Holland.
Half the price, but still main dealer parts and keeps it all original
Glad you fell back in love with yours, because you are right, they are awesome machines
Makes me grin every time I drive it
How is this all going? These cars can be a labour of love …. And highly expensive.. Hope it’s been ok for you. Buddy 🫶
Nice video! Old school power 😎
Definitely, sounds so so good!
I had one of the 2005 models until 2007 before I left the country, an awesome vehicle. Your model here is fantastic, some great memories.
Awesome isn’t it where in the world are you now then? Did you get anything else sporty and fast when you moved?
It really is great I agree, glad it brought back some great memories ❤️🙌 thanks for watching Neil 🙌
I got a 04 cl55 amg. Took out the whole abc and installed air bags. Smaller supercharger pulley and some other stuff. Very powerful car.
Nice, I bet it made a huge difference especially because they start life with a decent amount anyway. What’s it kicking out out bhp wise? Do you know?
@@PeakPerformanceReviews dont know, never dyno it but my best guess would be around 550?
@@300zVinh awesome, very nice gains! Thanks for watching hope your enjoyed. Where are you based? You in the UK?
No, I'm in the states.
@@300zVinh ah cool cool, thanks for watching please stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have you around
Love the video! I have a 2003, such a fun chassis! Btw how did a Walmart Browning hunting decal end up on the back of a Mercedes in the UK?
Thanks fella, please stick around and subscribe as we need more good people like you on here.
Greg the owner is a regular visitor to the US of A I believe so I’m guessing he got it when he visited but I will ask him to be sure haha 😆
I’m part redneck 😂
I lived stateside for several years when I was younger, and a good portion of that time was in Ft Wort Texas, and I actually collect 60’s and 70’s muscle cars, and my buddies in Texas tell me I’m way more southern than I let on, so it’s was just my way of rednecking up my high performance Benz a bit 😂😂😂
Greg? That you?
@@PeakPerformanceReviews yes mate
Sure is
Yasssssd Greg you ledge
Considering that the CL 500 does 0-60 under 6 seconds with 300 HP, the point of having 500HP in this car is solely for Autobahn speeds over 100 miles an hour... that's where the difference would really show....
I 100% tend to agree, it’s exactly where it excels
V8 AMG go BRRRRRRRRRRR
Haha indeed 🙌
I’m looking at one right now with 152k sitting in a police yard. It’s not bad at all condition wise. They’re asking 3500. I really wanna pull the trigger on it but the mileage and expensive labor / parts scares me
Will they let you drive it? Or have you!? For me if you want it after driving it just get it! You only get one go on this planet…. Well at least that’s what I believe anyway. If you like something imo go get it 🙌✅👌
I have this car, in the same colour, which is correct for a Silver Arrow, right?
The engines are in fact hand built by a single person at AMG. That made me feel very comfortable about the engine in my car.
The tech specs are to repeat Greg, 493 bhp, and 516 ft-lbs of torque. They are, in fact, very torque(Y), as I'm sure you noticed as you drove the beastie, right?
Your friend's car is in perfect shape. I was fortunate enough to locate one in a similar shape, having been owned by a man who loved cars as I do who took excellent care of the one I bought.
I bought my wife a CLK 550, which we drove to check out the one I bought. Here's a hint about my wife: she drove the CL 55 HOME!
So much for the first five being mine, LOL!
I am not sure where your friend saw his first one of these cars, but I saw my first one when it was the Formula 1 safety car. I saw it and said I would buy one when I could. The instant I saw the one I bought I knew it was coming home with me. And it did!
Great video, gentlemen. Thanks much!
These are my added bits. Sorry, I had to do this.
As far as Greg being into American "muscle cars," these cars are what I would consider German "muscle cars."
The only thing that can be bad is exactly what Greg said was the hydraulic suspension system. As he said, though, as long as the systems are cared for, the system will be fine. If the system is abused, not cared for, then you'll get hurt.
I bought my car from a man who had every single piece of paper on my car from its trip across the Atlantic Ocean until the Mercedes-Benz dealership reviewed the car for me before I even came to see it. The review I requested was far above and beyond the standard pre-purchase inspection, which cost me $650.00
My dad was the historian of a world class Concours, the Amelia Island Concours d’elegance and so I called the gentleman who founded that show and asked if I could speak to his lead mechanic about the type of car inspection HE WOULD WANT DONE FOR THE CAR IF HE WERE BUYING IT. So, he sent me a custom inspection to have it done to the car. Also, he knew the car, not my car specifically, but the model and year of the car, so he knew exactly what to inspect. The service department was rather surprised when they received my inspection points. Regardless, the car passed with flying colours.
Here's a piece of information most are unwilling to share, but I couldn't care less. I paid $15000.00 for it. I think I paid the exact right amount for it. It wasn't too much or too little either.
Also, when you have driven the car enough, you know how to use the transmission in the manual mode, which I prefer to use with the stick. I am getting more comfortable using the buttons on the steering wheel, though I still prefer the stick. That's just me having grown up with manual transmission cars, both on the road and the race track.
Petrol consumption in the US is a bit like this: about 16 mpg overall. I get about 19 to 21 mpg on the highway. I generally am fairly conservative as a driver on the road primarily because of two reasons: I live in a rural, farming community , and I have spent a fair bit of time racing. If I want to go fast, I'll just take this big beastie and head to the track.
You can easily get a rise in your times if you do your own shifting. Also, if the owner of the car was not sitting next to you or if Greg were doing it himself, you would have better times. Those are only my opinions as I have better times in my car, and our cars are identical.
I’ve asked him to chime in on this one fella!
Haha I love that! Gotta love having a Petrolhead for a wife too, I’m with you on that haha but yes it can mean the cars go missing haha.
Wow that is cool and I don’t blame you after seeing it in F1, they are lovely cars and I loved my drive in it.
Thank you so so much for watching and the kind words, please stick around and subscribe as we need more good people like you on here 🙌❤️😎
@Peak Performance Reviews You bet, SUBSCRIBED! I do have a bit of crazy news about my petrolhead spouse. She bought a Mini Cooper S Countryman and sold her CLK 550 Cabriolet for almost nothing. I was in shock. Then again, this is why we NEVER, EVER, EVER finance vehicles, if we can possibly help it. So far, in 15 years together, we've been able to maintain that concept.
Americans are the worst at getting ripped off on their vehicles, wouldn't you agree? They have always struck me at being the worst at being able to judge a car's value or lack of value.
I hear so many of the men say how women in America know nothing about cars. Well, then teach your daughters, your sisters, your wives, and your mothers about cars for goodness sake. Or am I simply out of touch about this idea? I am truly curious to hear an opinion. My wife knows about engines, brakes, tires, wheels, bearings, etc. Even then, Princess Elizabeth learned how to repair truck engines during World War II; you know that's bloody true! It's history!
If a princess of the realm can learn such a thing, why can't a wife, daughter, sister, etc.
I honestly wasn't to get an opinion back on this topic.
Thanks again!
I always thought Americans got better value cars…. Well I suppose not over here mind. Haha no problem, great speaking with you. I’m gutted I’ve only just seen this reply, YT hid it from me 😫🤷♂️
Really weird how people who are interested in the same cars also have the exact cars in their garage. I mean I have a 190e and a Charger in the garage and I was thinking, what are the chances of that?! Havent got the CL55 yet but that is super weird.
It just tends to happen doesn’t it haha it is mad! Thanks for watching fella!
If you have the traction control on you won't get the correct 0-60 time for this car, it pulls so much power out of first gear with the TC on that you piss away a second of time easily.
We tried both and couldn’t quite get anymore. I believe Greg did say he needed to do something with the gearbox and it since has felt much better. None the less I was suitably impressed! Thanks for watching fella 🙌
It seems odd watching a car review and recognizing all the roads. Then seeing the Browning decal.
Do you know of this car too? Thanks for watching 🙌👍
@@PeakPerformanceReviews Yeah, and I know the mad Arab. 😊
@@TheDustyShed haha brilliant, lovely guy too isn’t he 🙌 was a pleasure to do the review, I’ve known Greg for some years now (many many) 🙌👍 thanks again for watching, please stick around and subscribe as we need more people like you around on here 😎👌
ive got one too. 2003 . 95k miles.
How long have you owned it for and what colour/spec etc? Same as this? You’ll have to forgive me though despite talking to Greg the owner a lot I wouldn’t know what specs and colours were available!
@@PeakPerformanceReviews it's a cl55amg. so 500ps and 700nm torque. silver with anthracite interior. pretty much all the add ons. I have the original price options booklet from.2003. list price without options was £93535 otr. plus around 7k of option. keyless go. blind. distronic etc. currently having front brakes replaced that somewhere in its history have been messed around with. but overall a lovely car. touch wood it stays good. and there is plenty of wood to touch
@@chrisw6640 that’s amazing, lovely spec there thanks for coming back to me.
It was such a lovely car all around and I really enjoyed my drive.
Hope your enjoyed the vid and stick around and subscribe as we need more good people like you on here 🙌👍😎
One surprising point is that the steering wheel is not wood
As in it should have it or it would look better with one? I don’t know as it’s not my car but it’s always interesting information.
Greg the owner is very well informed so I’d be surprised if he wouldn’t know but sometimes like they say you learn something every day 🙌
Thanks for watching appreciate it and the comment 👌❤️
😂nice
🙌
I got this car cl55 amg kompressor 2003 it’s a love hate relationship
Haha how’s it been in general have you had some issues? It’s a cracking car 😎🙌
@@PeakPerformanceReviews the suspension was a killer... I’ve had that done... the trunk seals were leaking causing the ecu under the rear passenger seat got wet... causing the wire loom to rot etc... once I see the no malfunction on the computer it’s a dream come true for a about 2 weeks
@@ayeshayaseen408 older cars often are a labour of love haha! Overall good I’m sure though
the brakes are 8 piston for u to know :)
Great information and not one both me or the owner knew thank you Paulius I really appreciate that.
Thanks so much for watching hope you enjoyed, please stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have you on here! Need more people like you on here 🙌
@@PeakPerformanceReviews done. Btw I share the same feeling as the owner of silver CL bcs that w215 body was like a high school crush u were always was dreaming of once u saw it... And it took me close to 10 years to grow on me (also some fighting with wife to convince her about the buying) to finally click that buy button in Copart :D
@@pauliusnorkevicius8647 that’s awesome fella! Thanks for sticking around! Such cool fun cars and having a sound like this is a big bonus too!
Can't even do a 0-60 time take your foot off the brake next time 😂
Damn you do well to see my feet from those shots haha 😆
I wish it was the case, there almost seems like some kind of a pre load delay on the trans before it launches which makes it lag but move and start an elapsed time which costs the car about 0.5 seconds ish at a guess.
@@PeakPerformanceReviewsis that on page 6 in the racing drivers book of excuses 🤣
@@mjh00124o only page 4 haha
this or e55amg 2003?
Not too much difference as such but yeah I like this personally, E55 has its load carrying benefits but I’m a sucker for the C 🥰 thanks for watching fella, please stick around as I’ve got a feeling you’ll like another planned video of mine …… it’s an AMG again that’s all I’ll say …. Oh and a classic one too 🙌👍✅
@@PeakPerformanceReviews:) thanks man! do you know if there are any issues with air suspension?
Sorry I only did see this reply I think YT held it 😫 did you get one in the end?
it's not 2.3 ton.... it's 1,85....
Some sources say 1920kg and even 2.3, do I say it or the owner? It was so long ago now
