    I'm currently waiting for my Round 4 CMP. I have a Round 3 service grade 1943 Remington Rand M1911A1 with a GI replacement slide (from USAF National Match Hard slide contract). The Army Odrnance crossed canons have an "MR" over strike for Mount Rainier Arsenal. No other arsenaling indicators. Roll marks and inspection initials are legible. I am very satisfied with this one.
    My lady, through her service organization, was eligible and received a SPLENDID Colt frame and Remington Rand slide that rivaled auction level pieces I had seen. She wanted a 1911A1 from that era to honor her deceased husband, who was a P.O.W. in WWII. As a waist gunner on B-17, he was shot down on his first mission over Germany surviving over two years in captivity.

    With these kinds of guns it is nice when they have some wear and blemishes. It speaks to the fact that the weapon has real history.

  • @rexhinlo3398
    @rexhinlo3398 8 месяцев назад +3

    That discoloration is the result of "fast tracking" the manufacture of the slides for the 1911s during that period. These slides were cyanide-dipped at the front end and at the rear to harden them. I would hold the same for the bi-coloured magazines.

    I believe you have a Type 3 slide on your Field Grade. The roll marks extend almost to the slide serrations on a Type 2.

    I genuinely think buying a Tisas 1911A1 ASF is the better route than buying one of these for most people. The tisas is a true replica of the Remington Rand WWII contract pistols and it costs a whopping $400 new.

    I brought both M-1911 Colt and Remington Rand in 1986 and Remington Rand for $325.00 in original excellent shape. When I took it to the range a lots of ex-military person keep question me at the range with simple question "Is this gen legal?" I brought with my FFL collector license but not registered with the state to my permit.

    Informative video!! However i have 2 that i obtained in the last 5 years that are in original condition without being re armored!! 1st generation Colt 1917 and a 1944 Ithaca with a colt frame.

  • @KoonceTodd
    @KoonceTodd 9 месяцев назад +2

    The discoloration isn't abnormal. It has to do with how they hardened that slide, and how the parkerizing takes to it. You'll see it on lots of them.

    All these videos about pistols made 40 to 60 years ago like they are the holy grails. 1911 pistols are not high value, they were demand made to thump that which they did and still do. I have a 1911 that was made in 1959 and a Tisas bought 1 year ago.They both go bang so that’s it with a good cleaning and oil job.

    1. ANAD 4 73 = Anniston Army Depot April 1973. Anniston Army Depot is the designated Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence (CITE) for tracked and wheeled ground combat vehicles (minus Bradley), towed and self-propelled artillery, assault bridging systems, individual and crew served small caliber weapons and locomotives, rail equipment and non-tactical generators.
    2. You incorrectly disassembled your 1911. Always wear eyepro. Pull slide to the rear. Set pistol vertically. Push in Barrel Bushing and rotate clockwise while pushing in the Guide Plug, so it does not fly out. Remove Guide Plug and Recoil Spring etc.

    Nicely done video! One of the best videos on CMP 1911 pistols on RUclips, along with the one Hebe’s Guns and Gear made where he shows an all original Ithaca 1911A1 that was a U.S. Navy issue, and was documented to have been on an LST in WWII in the Pacific.
