I got a 1911a1 in the second round of the CMP run. Its a Remington Rand frame and slide. My barrel is marked 86 so I assume around then is when the last rebuild was done. I am very thankful for having it.
Nice. I can’t wait to get mine. You should be more careful. You did not clear the gun before you started waving it around. You clearly had a round in the magazine. You dry fired the gun before checking to see if you had a round chambered.
11/17/2022 Received my M1911A1 from CMP Round 3. Service Grade. 1943 Remington Rand frame, NO NAME SLIDE (tag GI rep). I found out the slide is a GENUINE Colt made National Match Hard Slide for competition marksman with matching chrome lined barrel. At first, I thought I had gotten a "mutt" but, finding the Match grade slide/barrel certainly changed my opinion of the unit I received . Thank you CMP. The NO NAME caused my FFL handler to record it as "MANUFACTURER UNKNOWN even with the CMP certificate. I'm USAF MSgt ret, '73-'95 former Security Policeman and Armorer. I'm glad to have a nice M1911A1
Wow! I got a Field Grade and will do a FOIA... on mine as well... never thought of that! That’s (one of the reasons) why we pay taxes! Nice 1911a1! I’m thinking the same thing... my little brother may want one... I may help him with paperwork. I got the cheaper case too, disappointed, but the pistol is nice.
I just received my service grade ‘43 Colt frame at my FFL. I plan to do the FOIA on the pistol also. Out of curiosity, are all of the CMP pistols Army stock? Or is it possible all branches turned in their 1911’s to the Army for disposal? Mine is marked US ARMY but I don’t think I’ve seen a 1911 marked with the other branches.
I believe most all were marked US Army; however, there were some 1911’s marked US Navy. As well, all branches turned in their 1911’s to the US Army for storage, it is possible to receive 1911’s that saw service in another branch; however, most all pistols will not have records before 1975.
Information regarding FOIA Request. According to Army Regulations (AR 25-55) an individual has to make a “perfect request” or the request will not be processed. Part of the “perfect request” requires a “willingness to pay” with dollar amount. The request are free and are of no charge; however, a statement of willingness to pay must be made. Below is the example of what I sent in and represents a “perfect request” I have an M1911A1 pistol, Serial Number XXXXXXX and I am requesting the history of ownership. I am willing to pay 25 cents for the request to be processed. Email address is: usarmy.redstone.ldac.mbx.foia@army.mil
@@reverendreview1777 thank you! I started some research but as in life got distracted. I screen shot this info and will file a request soon. I like the grip idea! Mine is a 1943 frame ..it's a mix match. Thanks again for the content and the information.
I would be oblivious to the CMP lottery if it wasn't for you tube contributions like this. Even so I learned of it after the second round was over. I was hoping to possibly take advantage of the third round if there is one. I looked at the requirement on their website and it stated you must show proof of your membership in a shooting organization. I am a former member of both the USPSA and the Marine Corp League, but neither membership is current. Outside of ROTC's the only authorized club in my vicinity is expensive and requires jumping through hoops. How does one get the necessary qualifications?
There is one I hear often mention; however, I don’t remember at the moment, but it is one you sign up online with and it’s like $25 year. It’s not a difficult obstacle to overcome for round 3 when it happens.
HS barrels were replacement barrels not issues. I'll guarantee it's been refurbished several times probably. Why would yo replace the grips(and mark them yourself) doesn't that ruin the authenticity of it?
Enjoyed your CMP 1911 video. Can you give some direction on how to go about submitting an FOIA? Thank you!
Great pistol, carried one in MP CORP, 1974-77....Great history

Congratulations, I received my service grade Remington Rand in early May.

Hey-it was in Topeka! 🤘🏻
I got my Rack Grade in Round 2, RGN 268xx. Picked it up early Dec 2021, RR frame with original finish but re-parked Ithaca slide.
Nice gun! My field grade came with a Remington Rand slide and Ithaca frame. Maybe we should swap slides!
I was just told mine is a Remington bottom Ithaca slide. Got pics? I may be willing to trade once I give mine a look over.

Can you share the FOIA reply you received from the Army? FOIA request are because you have to be specific of what you are requesting for.
I was lucky in the first round and got a service grade Colt frame & Colt slide made in 1942.

Wrong. HS barrels were standard with Remington Rand and Ithaca

You should try to brush up on gun safety. Your CMP is a very nice specimen.
Looks like rack grade is better than field grade.
Congratulations on receiving this.
What was your number?
I'm in the 31,000 and waiting
I was 26,000 something if I remember correctly
@Reverend Review
Well I may be waiting awhile
