    The cartridges are 45 AUTO, as is the chambering. The gun is a 45 ACP.

    Nice one!!! Mine is a 1911 Ogden Arsenal rebuild. Frame is 1919 Colt. Everything else is WW2 or later (RR slide,arched MS housing,short trigger).

    Just to be clear all 1911 pistols were retrofitted with the A1 style scallops and mainspring housings along with the extended bearvertail to protect against hammer bite.. my service grade was made in 1914 by colt and it has all the A1 trimmings. Awesome gun and amazing history!

    I finally got mine around January this year. Its has a Remington Rand slide n frame. The frame has Anniston arsenal rebuld markings. The slide is a little rough showing evidence of being tossed into a parts bin- several times BUT i have an extra Remington Rand slide in much better shape. I paid about $1000.00 for my 1911A1 and im very happy with it. If only I could find my leather sholder holster from the 1970's........😣 Mel

      Mel Chung glad you got one. There’s a lot of others still waiting....sometimes the anticipation of what your going to get is the best part.

    In addition to arsenal rebuilds, the pistols were some times cleaned in bulk and the parts mixed up before they were re-assembled. So if you get a slide and frame that match, you are lucky. And even then the slide may not be the original. But they are a snapshot of exactly how they were issued and used by our military. I'm picking up mine today.

    Your 1911 looks great! I’m sending my packet to the CMP tomorrow. I didn’t luck out with the M1 Carbine lottery, so I’m hoping on this round 2 of 1911’s. Thanks.

      I didn’t luck out with the carbine lottery either. I think you’ll have a good shot at one of these. Good luck!

    I was looking at some of these on their auction site. Are a lot of these recoated or refinished? I knew that some people had gotten some that way. Was yours? I know on the auction site they don't really say too much about the finish except the condition.. Thanks

    • @durbinfamily9409
      @durbinfamily9409  3 года назад

      Yes, I’d say many of the pistols have been recoated, but not by the CMP. A lot of the pistols including mine have been rebuilt by one of the many arsenals that rebuild firearms for the military. There’s probably very few CMP pistols that are in total original configuration. That doesn’t mean that they’re not still as issued and valuable.

      @@durbinfamily9409 I see. I collect Luger's and P 38. I know with those guns, refinishing takes away from the value a lot. I don't have much experience with WWII 1911s. I'm assuming original finish is better. But is it that big of a deal as far as value compared to other firearms? Thanks! Your gun looks amazing.

      @@Teleman01 I think it always effects the value if it was done by someone other than the military. In this case, just like the 1903, m1 Garand, and m1 carbines, many were re-arsenaled and put back into use or stored for the next war. Even the re-arsenal markings can be collectible. I’m sure if you can find one totally original it’ll be worth more money than one like mine. Thanks I’ve been enjoying it.

      That's the difference between service grade and the lesser grades. Sevice grade means just that ... it could be put into service. Rack and field grade are usually original finish
